Hello everybody!
I made up a new version of pof's USPL, which is explicitly for the ELFIN 128/256 MB devices. So now you can flash SPL in step three without bricking your ELFIN, as USPL for ELF used to do.

This version is based on the ELFIN 2.20.0000 SPL and was patched the same way as USPL for ELF.

I received a "corrupt image error" at step 3, i rebooted the device and is working fine like nothing has happened, any clues?

I have this ROM installed:
RUU_Elfin_CHT_OPEN_2.20.753.1B_4.1.13.51_03.07.90_ BLUE_Ship_Reduced.exe

IPL 2.20.0002 and SPL 2.20.0000 both remain unchanged after running elfin-uspl.exe

Can someone please clarify this for me.
I bought my cellphone from Vietnam, and it is unlocked. It is windows 6 prof, and I am very serious about flashing my baby to 6.1. When I was in Vietnam, I was using VietTel, t-Mobile, and in Mexico using Telcel.
BUT I bricked my iMate Sp3i before, and didn't want(CAN'T afford) to brick another one.
The question would be.
Because it is unlocked. Do I need to CID Unlock my Elfin P3452 before upgrading to 6.1? Thanks in advance.

after runnig 2 steps successfully in pof's app, if rom update fails then i think it does not brick all the time.. atleast not 99% !!

is SPL temporary updated means after some update again CID is locked?
or it is permanent?

ok.. so it is done on my elfin... so i think.. didnt show me any errors... the ruu worked like a chram too and at last it showed me "Congratulations" :D but my question is how do i confirm if the cid is really unlocked... i dont wanna flash a good rom and get my touch bricked :(

HI dear,
I have an ELFin with IPL 2.20.0002 and SPL 2.20.0000. I have tested the procedure to make a CID unlock cretaed for the ELF and for the ELFIN but they doesn't work on it.
Using the procedure for the ELFin it stop it in the second step at 75% with an imege of a pinguin on the display and a little green note. I have just ENABLE-RAPI the device.
My ELF is brand HTC....does it need to be CID unlock to flash with another rom, right?
There is someone who know the solution to my problem?

hi, i have done quite a number of times but it just doesn't work.
step 2 completed but screen still shows the penguin.
hardreset, go into the tri color, ruu run, flash 100% but ruu show that there is an error ...

my mistake ... IT WORKS!!!
tried for the 5th time... what the heck, new phone, i can always go for a refund.
install certs & rapi again. power down, remove sim card and memory card
boot up device, connect to pc, run uspl again. VIOLA, finally success!

In step two, your device will be TEMPORARILY CID unlocked. This state only lasts until next reboot. So if you flash a working ROM at that point, all is fine. BUT:
What if the ROM you flash does NOT work? THEN your device is bricked and you can only get it back to life with an official Update of the right manufacturer.

hey djvw brother... my bad man.. i was under the impression that the cid is unlocked once so i always run the uspl prog before any flash.. :( sorry dude.. good work.. now i'm going to do the uspl thing right till the end and not worry before every flash :D

I have been posting in an other thread about this problem.
I am trying to put a french wM6 on my US Touch. I went through all steps pretty well, I have benn using both Elf USLP from POf and from djvw. I flashed the french rom, it works actually but I did that 3 times with 2 diffrent french Roms and I still have the same problem: when I disconnect my Touch from power (or from USB cradle) it truns of in about 2 minutes which is normal but then it reboots itself. After half an hour, it doesn't turn on any more and I have to reinstall the original Rom.With the last french rom I have installed and after using djvw USPL, I haven't got the impossibility to power on yet, but it still reboots itself over and over. Someone told me that this issue happens because I didn't do a "full flash". Actually, when I check the bootloader, my SPL has changed to 1.something but my IPL is unchanged. Why does everybody else succed to full flash and I don't? What do I have to do to succeed a full flash? Thank you for helping!

I have a Rogers Elfin that has SPL/IPL 2.21. You said earlier in this thread that it's safe to flash the 2.20 USPL onto a 2.21.... but it is a lower version. What are the repercussions of this, if any? Will my boot loader now say SPL 2.20 and IPL 2.21?

There are two USPL's...

These are the valid SPL's I tested
P3450 (128/64MB): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320155

If you have a P3452 You can use the P3450 USPL if you quit at the end of stage 2 but you are better using the P3452 USPL.

If you have the P3450 and it doesnt go through to the grey-white screen then you need to clean the handset down first before reloading certspcs and enablerapi


CLEANING DOWN YOUR PHONE AND RESTARTING WITH NO VENDOR CUSTOMISATIONS

REMEMBER: REMOVE YOUR SIM CARD AND SD CARDS BEFORE DOING THE FOLLOWING

Step 1: Hold Down the Red and Green Call buttons and press the reset.
A message warning you that you are about to format your storage is displayed:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press Action to restore manufacturer default or press other keys to cancel.Step 2: Press the centre button (you will see a message saying that the FAT partition is being formatted and the device will reset and load the OS for the first time)

Step 3: Prompt: "Tap the screen to set up your Windows Mobile Based device." - Tap the screen, complete the alignment and set the date and time

Step 4: Tap the next button on the Date and Time Screen

Step 5: Tap "Skip" on the password screen

Step 6: GET READY TO MANUALLY RESET YOUR PHONE avoiding all customisations!!!!!

Step 7: Tap the screen then immediately as the OS loads the today screen a "customising in 3 seconds "OK" dialog is displayed, PRESS RESET before it can take effect - Your phone will reset loaded with a clean ROM with no vendor customisations.

Once you have a clean handset, reload the Cert_SPCS.cab and EnableRapi.cab by copying them to the temp directory on your device and running them CERT_SPCS first. Then once loaded reset your handset again.

You now have a clean device ready to receive the right USPL. Make sure you choose the right one for your handset!!!

I'm having the sticky Penguin problem too. Here's the things I've done:

1. I hard reset, stopped the customization procedure just before it began.
2. I synced with activesync
3. I installed cert cab first and rapi cab second.
4. I soft reset
5. I synced with activesync
6. I ran elfin-uspl
7. Step 1 and Step 2 completed.
8. I got to the penguin and it got stuck there and I never got the gray screen.
9. I tried this 4 times now, 1 in XP and 3 in Vista, I never get past the penguin.

So what could be wrong?

Aaahh... Now I've solved it. I had taken out the SIM card just as a precaution. This time I put in the card and turned on the phone. I started the procedure again and this time I got the gray screen. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but I guess the phone must be active for this to work...

And what happens if you've got a call during the whole unlocking???
It is said clearly that nothing should disturb the process!!!
That's why we are adviced to remove the SIM card!
And the "desired" screen is usually white and blank!How did yours was gray?

You're right, it's advised not to have the phone on while flashing, but on my Elfin, it simply didn't work with the phone off...

After I got my screen to go "white" blank, there is a checklist in
"Follow instructions below for pda to update process".

On Part 2, it says "Establish a activesync connection to your pda phone".. And I'm not sure how can i make it the activesync icon go green again.

As I remember during the step1/2/3, the last step specifically says if your pda has a blank screen and the activesync icon to be grey, then continue on.

I tried continuing on with what I had and ended up with "congrajulations" and that was that. However, when I checked the spl, nothing has changed. Any help or suggestions would be great, thank you ><. :o

What was your SPL before?
If you had a different SPL (meaning different than 1.11.0000 or 2.20.0000 , according to which one you used)
and you still see that in bootloader, then the unlocking didn't work.

ps:I think that the only way to find out if your unlocking worked
is following this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347700) and check the line:
g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel = ?
*If ?=0 => Touch=CID_Unlocked => Able to flash any ROM or Radio Update through Bootloader
*If ?=FF => Touch=CID_Locked => Try CID_Unlocking again BEFORE flashing anything

I tried doing the procedure from reinstalling Cert and Rapi and now i'm back to the penguin logo that is stuck at 75% at step 2~ ...

And one more important thing I would like to point out is do you need to hard reset in order the update to work? I mean does it have to be a hard reset? Cuz I dont' want to customize my screen and other things....

That is showing that the CID_Unlock probably worked!
But:

So far, I managed to get the white blank screen again, but I'm not so sure if it did work since I cannot establish an activesync w/ my pda. :o

I was wondering if the updating process takes less than a minute to finish because the estimated time is about 10 mins.

It worked like a charm!
1st time it said the image was corrupted and restarted the device. 2nd time it completed all steps correctly.

--> Step 3 took less than 30 seconds to complete.

My SPL before was 2.24.000. Now it´s 2.20.0000

I'm freaking out! I launched it and got to step 3 where it launchged the ROM update but there was no activesync connection.. my touch screen was just all white and it failed... I soft reset'ed my phone and it shoes RED, GREEN and BLUE bars with "IPL 2.21.0002" and "SPL 2.21.0000" and it doesn't get past that... what do I do?

Tomsn, USPL is not for unlocking the SIM, it is used for only unlocking the CID so that u can flash cooked ROMs to ur mobile

htctouchp is mostly right - but I *always* remove the SD Card and SIM card before I do any flashing (mainly because most flashes assume this as a base line and because I read somewhere that you always should).

I put together a list of do's and don't collected from all over the forum and the Wiki on CID unlocking and applying the USPL here:

Following these steps will allow you to apply a USPL to your phone and add ROMs, it also perfectly prepares the phone for SIM unlocking although you may wish to reload CERT_SPCS.cab and EnableRAPI.cab and reset again before you try.

But when I Try to put this ROM on a locked device with your USPL they give me the error:
For a Unlocked Devices, I have a procedure to RUN the attached SPL before ROM Update.
So, my question is: "Can I merge this SPLs? Can I modify USPL to support up to 128MB ROM? How can I do that?"

I have been posting in an other thread about this problem.
I am trying to put a french wM6 on my US Touch. I went through all steps pretty well, I have benn using both Elf USLP from POf and from djvw. I flashed the french rom, it works actually but I did that 3 times with 2 diffrent french Roms and I still have the same problem: when I disconnect my Touch from power (or from USB cradle) it truns of in about 2 minutes which is normal but then it reboots itself. After half an hour, it doesn't turn on any more and I have to reinstall the original Rom.With the last french rom I have installed and after using djvw USPL, I haven't got the impossibility to power on yet, but it still reboots itself over and over. Someone told me that this issue happens because I didn't do a "full flash". Actually, when I check the bootloader, my SPL has changed to 1.something but my IPL is unchanged. Why does everybody else succed to full flash and I don't? What do I have to do to succeed a full flash? Thank you for helping!

Hi a colleague persuaded me that he could flash the rom on my Elf Touch using profs Elf USPL. It turns out my phone is an Elfin ELF030050
T-MOB005. At first the phone did work but it started turning itself off I kept turning it back on until it got to the point when it would only return to the three colour boot loader screen. I have tried boooting various roms via usb and SD card but to no avail & I cant seem to trace an original rom. Has anyone any idea's?:confused::mad:

using this ELFIN_USPL.rar, I've done:

remove SIM card and MicroSD card
hard-reset, do clean-device procedure, soft-reset
run Cert_SPCS and EnableRapi, soft-reset
run elfin-uspl.exe
pass step 1 and 2
screen goes white-blank
press enter to follow update wizard,
got ERROR [260]: CONNECTION error, says: the update utility cannot connect to the PDA, make sure the cable/craddle connected properly
soft-reset, windows loaded successfully.

:confused: if it's not connected properly.., the screen will not change by itself isn't it..?
and I've tried this many times already.., same result.

help anyone..??

note: this phone is for my wife. I owned a HERMES, 838pro, and I've flashed so many ROMS in that Hermes successfully, and I still use it till now.

when i get this kind of error, i usually restart those services, disconnect the phone from lap top, reconnect...may be u can try to change ur computer

Here are some thoughts concerning d1ete's issue even though I don't use Vista:
1.Did you try another usb cable and/or another usb port?
2.Did you try the process in flight mode?
3.What is your setting for "Allow usb connections"?
4.After hard reseting take the battery out for 1'.
5.Are you ok with the drivers (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291723) wanted for vista to run RUU?

I bought my cellphone from Vietnam, and it is unlocked. It is windows 6 prof, and I am very serious about flashing my baby to 6.1. When I was in Vietnam, I was using VietTel, t-Mobile, and in Mexico using Telcel.

Yes you need to cid unlock. sim and cid are two seperate things. after i sim unlocked mine i still had FF on my matty program. be careful there is no offical rom for the mdatouch aka elfin aka efl030050 so if you brick it you out of luck until later this year. when tmobile comes out with a rom

u can not use that ROM, it doesnt match with ur CID. this WWE ROM is for CID DOPOD001. so better not use it as such. although u can try this:
1. extract the ruu_signed.nbh
2. leave the IPL and SPL from the dump, take other parts and recompile them with HTCrt tool.
3. flash the ROM

Okay, now once and for all:

This is what step 3 is for:
In this step your Bootloader will be overwritten by a patched one, so that your device will be PERMANENTLY CID unlocked. That means, you can flash ANY ROM EVEN FROM BOOTLOADER. There is no need to use USPL again for your device, until you overwrite the bootloader (only official updates do that).

Running Sprint HTC Touch

I have tried this on 2 different computers, both XP. Everytime it stops at 15%. I can actually hear the phone make a sound right before it stops at 15% and the device freezes. I have been working on this for about 6 hours. Any advice?

I have put the ELFIN folder on the C drive...hard resetted device..w/o customizations...installed rapi...soft reset, nothing so far has worked.

It's a CDMA phone, these can't be unlocked with software. I think you have to check at a store or something while GSM phones are unlocked by SIM unlock and allow you to jump networks by changing your SIM card.

but this d'ont work on my device.
after flash this update my ipl & spl to 2.26.0000
i have white screen end all
but cid is locked yet
at that time i return ipl&spl to 2.23.0002/2.23000
with original rom.
maybe i wait any program update
for example:Wizard ServiceTools
i have v4.2.2, but d'ont work too.

I believe there's no reason why it shouldn't work, read the instructions from post #3 in the thread I sent you, download and install EnableRapi.Cab (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=92913&d=1213560044) & Cert_SPC.Cab (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=92914&d=1213560044) on your device ( if you went back to your original Rom you have to install them again ) don't forget to remove storage card and sim card, do a soft reset and begin the process, it worked for me after 3 times so don't be afraid to try since you can return to the original Rom ;-)
You can try also Uspl 3.07 or 3.10.

By the way Wizard ServiceTools is for wizard phones and not for Elfin !

Hard reset and in customization soft reset again.
I install cert_spcs and Enable rapi
than restart than take the microsd and simcard
than run elfin_uspl and elf_usp_2.26.0000
but can not be success always when haret installing ,screen turn white and disconnect to pc
I use vista , must i try in xp?
I did not run Touch_Unlock.exe because of viruses.


What I miss , or is there an other method for CID unlock

i tried the first time, and got everyting wrong, so i hard reset ir and it was fine again.
but on the second attempt i would no pass th 75% on the second step.
i has to remove the battery for the htc respond.
can anyone help me?

Hello All.

It's true, my phone really dead.
I dont even get to BootLoader, the only thing that i have now is the response sound when you connect a new device to a computer.

the usb pocket pc driver is installed.
still no bootloader screen availabe(black screen)

wen i try to upgrade the rom i am able to connect to the mobile bot i get the Generic locked CID error.

This happened when i tried to upgrade to a 6.1 rom version.


i can connect trougth mtty and the lock status is FF


Here is the question?

once that aperantly the phone is dead, is there a possibility to recover it ?

I received a "corrupt image error" at step 3, i rebooted the device and is working fine like nothing has happened, any clues?

IPL 2.20.0002 and SPL 2.20.0000 both remain unchanged after running elfin-uspl.exe

trying to unlock CID on HTC P3452. Phone turns freeze and the dos screen shows step 2/3 15%..... and that's all.
Tried lots of methods and it didn't worked.
