Assembling with SYS from the the official WM6.1 Kaiser - orefkov. Entire soft from the system part of vindy and OYEM of soft is left as is. Size PagePool'a - 6 MB.. Installation.

1. BEKAP!!! Since y axis you changes, then to use complete bekapy of the system, type Sprite Backup, SPB Backup is impossible. You will preserve PIM information (contacts, bells TP) with the aid of program PPccPimBackup.exe.

2. CID Unlock. but according to me the response is very slow if u click on a application takes more time to repond even in navigation of ontacts everywhere and this rom is fully loaded and lite it has everything loaded

The response time is okay in my device. But the device takes more time to boot. And also the rom is a fully packed one...not lite version...nyways enjoy the new rom....:)

guys, we should thank mun_rus and orefkov for this upgrade... its their creation... Well, this upgrade was created with the oem & sys folders as is and only the .vm and xip was greloced... the gene wm6.1 kitchen which mun_rus is working on...

i did a lil remap of the packages inside this and deleted windows live (which doesnt work anyways), some useless tsk files, some images, transcriber, stock games and windows update (which also doesnt work).. added a few usefull packages and got a rom with good storage and with working packages :)

i have a rom which is customised to my needs friend.. i dont know if anyone wants to go for it.. its kind of my first cooked rom, so there may be bugs too.. like for instance, gene hangs on the screen alignment mode.. u ve to reset 2-3 times and wait for the touch to enable (it works though) if everyone wants then i'll upload and share the link.. got a slow connection so will take lil time

Active Sync for emails does not run with ROM as well as this issue was with WM6. Certificates could not be installed on WM6.1 and windows default certificates are also not available in this ROM. Please resolve this issue.

Active Sync for emails does not run with ROM as well as this issue was with WM6. Certificates could not be installed on WM6.1 and windows default certificates are also not available in this ROM. Please resolve this issue.
Solved. Just create dir - Windows\System\CertDtls

Usage:

Copy file ruu_signed.nbh from your ROM to this folder.
Run file make.cmd
After it work, if in this folder exist file ruu_signed.nbh, copy it back to folder with RomUpdateUtility.exe, and flashing your device.

try this..

go to settings\system\usb connections and disable advance network functionality

then try to sync over gprs.. sometimes syncing exchange over activesync doesnt work (happen with me 95% times, even with my new shipped touch)

OK, I've moved from the WM6 ROM to the WM6.1 ROM, followed all of Orefkov's instructions and am pretty much in the same state. ActiveSync wont connect.

Some observations:
- ActiveSync throws up an error with each connect (Support code: 0x80072F06)
- When I view any SSL site (like https://mail.google.com/ I get a security warning saying names don't match)
- Some Root certificates do show up this time. I also added my company's Corporate Root CA certificate (.cer) - but ActiveSync is still failing
- It might be that the required list of Root CA's is not getting installed or is not packaged in the first place.
- I know my company uses CyberTrust for its servers but it doesn't show up in the list of installed CAs.

According the MS, (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/915840), the list of Root certificates that are installed on a Windows Mobile-based device are:
The following root certificates are installed on a Windows Mobile-based device:• Class 2 Public Primary Certification Authority (VeriSign, Inc.)
• Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority (VeriSign, Inc.)
• Entrust.net Certification Authority (2048)
• Entrust.net Secure Server Certification Authority
• Equifax Secure Certification Authority
• GlobalSign Root CA
• GTE CyberTrust Global Root
• GTE CyberTrust Root
• Secure Server Certification Authority (RSA)

Most of these are not available in the WM6.1 ROM.

Will it work if I download and install the Root CAs manually? Can that be done?

Will try this out...in the meantime, someone .. please let me know if I'm going down the wrong lane here..

In the original 5 rom, everything was fine and i had a hotmail account in my inbox,, but now i cant sign in to windows live and i cant create a hotmail acccont in inbox.
is there any remedy for this ??
i need it badly. or do i need to install anything more..??

And one more thing the task manager is showing the processes but they cant be killed?? how can i kill the processes using the same task manager?

windows live messenger need the wince.nls,maybe.

the xip in wm6/wm6.1 for gene has the same wince.nls as wm5 .

try to replace it,and then it's work well.

I guess the problem lies with wince.nls. Problems with the file seem to prevent SSL proper SSL connections and downstream issues with ActiveSync over Exchange servers that support only SSL. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307593)

BTW: switching the wince.nls file will not work as wince.nls is a ROM module program. Got this from an msdn blog: (http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/default.aspx)

"There are two main sections of the internal ROM of a device, called FILES and MODULES. You can copy anything you want out of the FILES section.........The programs in the MODULES section of ROM are specially processed before getting put into ROM. Most of the headers are removed and the addresses are fixed up so that the programs can run without having to be loaded into RAM first. This saves RAM and performance later on. What this means to you is that even if you could get the bytes out of ROM, you wouldn't be able to use them. The binary has been stripped down and customized for that particular device."

when i try to install the file it says " intermediate or root certificates were not successfully added to the device . Please restart the device and try again . Programs requiring a certificate chain may not work properly .:)

Tried everything in this thread including the cert fix and installing addtional root certificates. The root certificates all appear to be installed, but when I try to sync with Exchange, I get the 80072f06 error. This happens both whilst connected via USB or gprs.

This is in my view the most serious issue with the available rom for the Gene.

hey there,

i successfully upgraded my GENE with MW6.1. its kool and fast. but i m having some problems.

1)Its not showing SMS properly. making a combined group for each contact.
2) No new SMS sending option.
3) Net Framework 3.5 installed but not working.
4) Few apps like SmileySMS, Kegens, SKTools not installing.(kegens give rutime errors even after installing net framework)
5) Mobile volume has decreased.

Oh my!! Looks like you just replied to my very very very old post :p

I gave up my Gene long back and before jumping on to Diamond wagon was on ElfIn. Since the HDD crash last month lost all the kitchens I used to work on so neither, do I have any backup of the Gene ROM nor do can I cook now :(

But I can tell one thing, after cooking, playing around with the ROMs and XIPs, I feel the processes of all the devices ROMs & XIPs are just the same. Its only the offsets and addresses that matter the most

the radio version shown in screenshot is 2.79.90... but after i upgraded this rom my radio version is still the same.. y is it so...? do u hav a suitable radio version for gene... my current radio version gives lots of problems it doesnt receive calls n messages at times... i use radio version 2.71.90..

I have a HTC P3400 and when i ran the ROM utility and while checking on Update - The version i get to update is lower than what i already have.

Any clue?
