I tried to do the things you describe. I did not succees. But let me first tell that I installed the wrong, it was a UNiversal 6.1 upgrade for my blue angel.
What I see on my screen is serial v2.05 and also usb v2.05.
Hard reset does not work and also no soft reset and I can't come into the bootloader mode . So I don't see the 3 colors. What to do?

try the WLAN Authentification fix it will fix connecting to most wlan networks - this was taken from aximsite :) also works on universal and some HP models, this fix does not fix wlan turn on from comm manager, first you have to urn it on from wlanmgr and then you can use the comm manager to turn it on and off
also install it only on the device, and reboot after instalation (i think the cab will prompt you to do it but anyway)

No problem, i am hoping more people to test it to various Wlan networks to see if it's worth including in my next rom, i test it only in my home network now and it works flawless.

I tried syncing ONLY the contacts, then added the calender in options. (suggested in another post)

2) items that I have received from someone else.

Any item that I add to either the XDA IIs or my PC and do not send to anyone else WORKS PROPERLY.

Tweaks:

.NET CF 3.5 Speedup - by aksd

1. Install NetCF3.5 on your ppc.
2. Open a registry editor, I use Reso Regsitry Editor
3. Goto HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETCompactFramework (this is usually the first entry)
4. When you open this you'll see all the .NET installed version change the DWORD value of 2.0.7045.00 from 1 to 0
5. Change the DWORD value of 3.5.7283.00 from 0 to 1.
6. Press power to enter the standby mode (wait 15 sec and then proceed to the next step)
7. Press reset
8. Viola! you have a faster PPC

note: Most of the applications depending on older .NET CF may not start at all



Here I differ from xplode.

Step 4 suggests to disable old dot net framework, I propose to keep both the frameworks on for the reasons 1. They are already installed so why not to use both of them 2. Framework 3.5 does not replace framework 1.0 and 2.0 so why to disable if they are already installed and make some of the programs cry.

Same here, I use the old Cab for MMS and it works perfectly... And for ActiveSync works fine as well, must say that I don't let the EXTROM install, I only take some of the cabs out there that I want... not the CF...

Xplode, your rom has a problem with video recording in camera. Then you stop video recording camera just disappears, and you can not run it again until soft reseting the device (if you use camera for photo it works well)! If it helps all 6.1 roms have the same bug exept the Glass_ROM_19199_WM6.1hoangdat_VT_pp16!

Anyone able to post up the original ringtone (the normal phone ringer windows mobile default) as the one in this ROM says it's corrupted.

Also, I installed an old MMS cab and the old MMS enable cab and I have the MMS server tab in my options. havent tested sending an MMS yet though.

if I change my notification (sms rongs, incoming calls rings etc.) it is all rogiht for a minite. Then (don't know when) if sms come, it doesn't ring, same with call.. i must reset my notification, and then it's all right, just for few time.. Can someone help me?
Btw. I had this problem also with WM 6 from Helmmi same like with WM 6.1 from Xplode :(

Thanks Xplode for this rom it has got speed & is stable. Programs do not jerk as in other Roms. Net CF 3.5 does help in speeding up some programs and version Net CF 3.5 can be installed into a storage card & takes up about1.5MB of storage space too. With the registry tweaked to Net CF3.5, as 1 does not cause any problems for programs that run on Net CF2.
The screen orientation icon on the system tray cannot be activated

But I can't start the program to configure it.
I don't have also the normal option "running programs" under "settings" - "memory".

Does anyone have a solution to that problem with HTC TaskManager?

when i start playing, thear is still still a skipping problem.
playing videos doesn't work well.
there are massiv frame problems.
and when i connect a bluetooth stereo headset, thear is still the skipping bug

Maybe you can try moBlue v2.0 is a bluetooth freeware application that makes your WM device able to save incoming bluetooth file transfers to whatever location.

I have used an mp3 as a ringtone for about 3 years now on my BA. I have used several 2003SE ROMs and several 6.0 and 6.1 ROMs as well and my mp3 ringtone has worked flawlessly with all of them.

I upgrade to this rom but i'm not seeing the HTC HOMEE.... and i'm also seeing old stuff from the last rom that was on my phone. Any idea?

Follow the initial boot instructions and delete hive and format storage. (hint: this is done using the camera/media player button and the record button after a hard reset and using the mail button to confirm the actions)

I have to admit, that I am new to upgrading my mda3 to wm5/wm6. I just spent about 3 hours reading wiki and threads in this forum and filtered the info that xplodes 6.1 upgrade seems to bee a good upgrade idea.

I admit that I only read the first 28 thread pages (yet) and probably I am just outing me as a moron, but I can't find the info if this upgrade has any prerequesites. So the burning questions at the moment are:

Can the upgrade be performed from any prior WM Version (2003SE,WM5,WM6)?
Or do I for example first need to upgrade to xplodes WM6.0 and after that upgrade to this 6.1 version?
Do I need extrom or should I merge extrom to storage prior to upgrading?
Even if it might not be necessary to have extrom to do the upgrade it might still be a good idea to have some?!? If so, how large should extrom be?

You need extrom in one and only one case: you plan to test WM5/6 and go back to WM2003.

In general - extrom is not visible/not accessible under Wm5/6. It's only waste of space.

Just for everyone who gets an error when trying to unlock/unhide extrom with xda-developers_Unlocker - at least for my german MDA3 the path to the exe in the lnk files (located in /windows/startmenu) are wrong. Edit them to reflect /Programme/ instead of /Program Files/ and it works ;)

Well, I've tried the wlan patch and worked with Zyxel HW660 from Telefónica - Spain. The encryption I use is WPA-PSK TKIP, before the patch doesn't work, after the patch it connects well and quickly.

I just copy my mp3 to Windows/rings (4sms just to windows) and there is no problem with it..
When I choose a MP3 Ringtone and press ok it automatically loads the default WindowsMobile Ringtone. I don't have problem with WMA Ringtones but I want MP3 :/

Well i have no problem with mp3 ringtones, they must be in \windows\rings, \my documents\my ringtones, \storage card or \storage card\my ringtones. I use the last one :)

first of all thanks for this fantastic rom, I really love it.
And as I am now starting to customize my BA with 6.1 for my needs I have some questions:

a) What's the difference between the automatic cusomization installing the cabs from the sd's extrom directory or by installing them manually?
Is the only difference, that I can't uninstall them when install during customization in the usual way that I can uninstall normal cabs?
Or are the installations during "customozation" installed to some other location too?

b) When I for example don't want AdobeReader to be installed (I want to install it so sd-card later), do I only need to remove it's line from the CFG.TXT in the extrom dir?

I have a problem! The rom is very good! But the syncronizatin with Actvesync 4.5 has a problem!

I have 350 telefon nummer in Outlook!
The actvie syn conect to the pda the exporer is good! But the syncronisation is wrong!
This error coms at the and:
Desktop synchronization cannot be completed. Reduce your mailbox size by deleting some itmes and folders and try again

i followed the steps u mentioned on how to download the OS.....after step 7 i.e. to perform the hard reset....on the screen it displays Serial v2.07 and when i removed the SIM Card and SD Card and restart it again it's showing the same thing....please guide on this problem......i cannot perform hard reset or anything. hi. i've been reading about this wm6.1 for quite some time now and im thinking of upgrading my wm6(also by xplode). i'm just hesitant to do the upgrade coz i've read somewhere that some apps will no longer work on this version of wm. i have installed quite a lot already, and i dont want to sacrifice that over just a few feature upgrades on the wm6.1. oh, by the way, what ARE the new features? i only read the threaded sms. what else? how about speed and performance, is it any good? and the wifi and bluetooth problems, are they fixed on xplode's wm6.1 version? thanks to whoever replies to my questions and i hope i can be convinced into switching to wm6.1.

@incubus72 WPA2 is currently unsupported by the BA WLAN driver, this is the only setback, there are reports from users that they are able to connect to WPA2 protected networks but these cases are very rare ....

@zhenius Which apps does not work ? Wlan and bluetooth works fine here (after installing the wlan fix in post 2 in this thread). Well you can read others posts here about stability and speed (IMO this rom is as fast as WM 2003 if not faster and a lot more stable)

I am not sure if it's related to ROM or my blue angel is about to die. Following are the issues (I have applied all the patches from post #2).

1. I am not able to access the Internet using T-Mobile WAP. It connects me to the network but then not able to browse the web sites. I had been using these settings for more than 2 years now.

2. Communication Manager says "No data connection exists" for "Data Connection" option, so I am not able to turn it on/off.

i've read that those apps that doesnt work only need a .netCF(im not sure if thats correct.:)) to be installed. i'll have to read more on that. about the wlan, its on some recent posts that there is a problem with wlan. i have problems with it on wm6, its a bit tricky to turn it on, same with bluetooth.

turn on or off? or are you referring to airplane mode? if so, what i did with mine was instead of clicking airplane mode, i manually turned off all transmitters, namely phone, wifi and bluetooth. and it stayed off until i turned it on again. i had to make sure of this since i had to fly somewhere. if you pressed airplane mode, it will just turn on again after a while :)

I'm going crazy when trying to manage multiple bluetooth connections with two or more BT devices . It seems that there is no way to have two BT devices connected to my BA at the same time. That was possible for sure with WM 2003...

Hi I have downloaded the 6.11.00 test ROM OK but I wanted to get the EXTROM from this 6.10.00. I have tried 2 mirrors and both give me the file of 39652KB and I get "unexpected end of file" error when I try to open (extract) it.

The test ROM was fine to open so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I even remembered to put in the password...

I have a strange problem after upgrading from 2003SE to this rom - at least I just realised it and never saw this before.

In PocketOutlook, PocketInformant and Outlook 2002 all birthdays and anniversarys are exactly one day early - and no, I did not set all those x-hundred contacts up with one day early birthdays ;)
First I thought this was a problem of my quite old Outlook2002 so I today installed birdiesync and synced everything with Thunderbird and Lightning and voila, the Birthday and Anniversary Fields in Thunderbirds Addressbook (with Thunderbird Extension MoreFunctionsForAddressBook to be able to see those fields) show the right dates - still Pocket Outlook and Pocket Informant are off by one day (e.g showing 14.4. insted of 15.4.).

This was not the case with my Windows Mobile 2003SE installation.

Did anyone have the same problem and knows a solution to this?

On my computer (xp) the timezone is GMT+1 and on the blueangel it's gmt+1 too.

And btw, the birthday and anniversary date fields in contacts are my problem, not the result of this (the wrong birthday entries in calendar are just caused by wrong dates in contact fields).

And really funny is, that birdiesync gets the right dates on my pc and outlook 2002 on the same pc is off by one day too.

You can flash the new rom without an SD card and you get a very clean rom :).
After that you have to install all the apps you need via ActiveSync or other sync program.

The SD card is only needed if you want to make it easier to install those apps because you can write the required lines in the cfg.txt in the EXTROM folder of the card therefore it will be a one-step process to install all the apps.

For more info look in the EXTROM folder of the downloaded rom package and check the cfg.txt

Check DST/timezone/time/date between PPC and PC.

Since birthday is usually set a 00:00hs. if your PPC is on DST with -1 hour it would alert a day earlier.

Thanks heaps it worked like a charm even though I was sweating a little due to it being new but now its great. Picks up WiFi on my Time Capsule as before could not. Thanks Explode and will endevour to learn as much as I can from this forum and the people that support it.:D

now everything works but the radio. every time i try to make a call it says "A Wireless must be attached to use the phone".

the Phone was an originally US Cingular but i'm using it with US T-Mobile service. does anyone know which radio version to upgrade too? and where i can download this.

extract BA_RRPT_Radio_11500.exe and get radio_.nbf paste it to the folder where my rom is extracted, remove nk.nbf from that folder and run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and it should be OK, BTW are you sure you have Blueangel but no Harrier ?

10.Allign screen
11.Wait for the instalation of the cabs from the EXTROM after that the device will soft reset
Congratulations, you are ready to use your device

Notes:
If you have problems or errors with the upgrade utility kill activesync, remove the SD and sim card and retry. After upgrade is completed before pressing the soft reset to exit bootloader insert your sd card in order for EXTROM to kick in. Anyway you can use the rom without any extrom
The HTC Home theme is not included because i have no permission to use it

In my MDA III Blue Angel shows "Serial" at the top and "V2.05" at the bottom when it Enter into BootLoader.

Is it posible to update it?

Yes it is possible but it would be much slower than via USB.
Are you using a cradle or a serial cable to connect to the PC?
The cradle connects via USB so you should use that way to make the flashing process faster.
But if you use a cradle connected to the PC via USB and your device shows "serial" you should check the connection because it should change to USB if you put the BA in the cradle.

But if I misunderstood and your question is regarding to updating the "V2.05" I'm afraid the answer is NO.

Just start over again... back in boot loader and might wanna consider trying a different ROM version once...

Did you follow the wiki completely, so you emptied the registry hive and all while booting?

i installed the new rom (thanks by the way) but when the installation finshies and i hard reset i cannot get out of the the splash screen (blue, green, red) screen . i can get back to bootloader but not to the actual OS. what am i doing wrong im on radio 1.06 g 1337.38 d6.10.00.wwe

any help would be great

I have a few questions...
1.how can I set my QTEK9090 (XDAIII) to send MMS messages if possible at all
2.I have problems with roaming - when phone changes provider it blocks until soft reset
3.can I set device button to another funkcion - permenatly, that I do not need to configure it every time after soft reset?

Very nice rom. Work like a charm for me. Only the HTC audio manager give me some problems. I will add all my music on the playlist but I tried a lot without result. The First I started he take only two songs. I tried to reinstall but he still take two songs. Someone can me tell how to fix this problem. Thx.

The only way to rebuild the playlist is to delete the songs map, then to upload him again on my sd card. Only after remove and reinstall audio manager, he recognized all the songs on my sd card. But when I add a song it will not be add on the playlist automatically. I will become mad about this. The WMP 10 on this rom play very well, and I think to abandon the audio manager.

I'm just upgraded my BA to WM6.1, the installation was finished and according this thread i have to give the BA a hard reset.
Well so far no problem I'll put the 'Clean registry hive' and 'Format storage' on Yes and the Enable KITL on No.

But now the problem, i cant leave this screen when i push the email button to leave the hard reset screen nothing happened!
Now i can't come into WM, i see only 4 stripes coloured, blue, green, red and white.

I hope some one can help me to get my phone at work again :confused:

Thanks a lot for this rom. I upgraded my BA from 2003SE to this one and it's GREAT.
But, any version of Skype that I install doesnt work, although it is successfully installed.
I unstalled it into the BA itself - not the storage card, and it keeps telling me that:

"couldnt find all the necessary files to start skype. please try to install skype again. skype will now quit."

I was looking at the forum but couldnt solve that.

I just upgraded to WM6.1 and installed Office Mobile. Outlook seems to be working fine when I'm in "messaging." ActiveSync won't let me select contacts, calendar, etc. and tells me that outlook isn't installed on my SX66. WTFO?

I have Arcsoft's 5.0.31.7 and I don't see my text messages anymore....

I don't believe that Arcsoft has anything to do with the Radio Rom version. Make sure that you have the latest version confirmed to work for your rom (whichever that may be). Good luck!

I'm using 1.15 Radio and the WM6.1 package that introduced this topic (with the exception of Arcsofts MMS Composer: I'm using 5.0.31.19) on an AT&T SX66. Although I'm not victim to the missing SMS/MMS that was mentioned in the first thread (there are a couple .dll's I found), I am experiencing a problem that is being posted throughout this forum from numerous users. None of them had received an answer that I'm aware of.
