Notes:

Known Bugs:

The comm manager icon in system tray does nothing on tap - solved see the attached cabs
WMP is skipping when playing MP3 - solved see the attached cabs
Wlan has problem with authentification and does connect very hardly to a protected network - solved see the attached cabs
Camera app crashes after recording MP4 video - working on it (actually it records the video but can not preview it in camera app, but you can view it from any multimedia player which is mp4 capable like WMP, TCPMP, CorePlayer ...)

Yes i have seen other WM6.1 threads in the forum (in fact there is a lot of them, specially from pdaviet), but you don't mention for instance if you are using "wifi driver v2" or not, nor if any other speed or stability improvements will this ROM bring versus your WM6 ROM, i meant.

Also any know issues from BA's WM6 solved, etc.

Just a thought.

I found the same wifi-issues like in pdaviet-roms 191999. Wifi isn't really happy to connect to wpa-protected networks. As workaround you can turn on wifi, configure your network settings, turn wifi off without connection. Than turn on wifi several times and wait. On my BA ist will connect after 2x turn on/off most of the time...

Will test other nice features of wm6.1 now...

Unfortunately I can't start CommManager by tapping small round icon in the right bottom corner of Today. Actually CommManager starts, but hangs - UI never appears.

Other problem is that this ROM (as all of WM 6.x I saw) does not work with external Bluetooth modem, e.g. my Nokia N95 phone.

Any idea why WM5 can work with external modems but WM6 cannot?

now ive seen different wm6 version: 1 with a page pool, one without and so on and i'm asking what's that page pool now? :S really confusing me. i had wm 2003 and didnt removed the extrom so i have 16mb less for the storage. i've bought a 4gb sd thinking to install everythink on it, but even if i install to storage card, application take me some space to the phone memory.... (temporaney internet files too) so i would like to know too if there is some registry hack to tell application to install directly to the sd.

can anyone tell me the difference with page pool and not? and if it's better to go back to wm2003 and remove ext rom , then go with this 6.1? :)

just find 2 bugs...

1st is a common manager bug.
can´t turn off phone.
i have to tap 3 times before phone turn off.

2nd is a bluetooth problem.
i use HTC audio manager, because the media player has the sd bug...
everything work perfectly, but when i connect a bluetooth headset,
the audio manager has the same error like the media player.
i tap play, but the reamning time panel jump just form 1 to 2 and than back to 1 and i can hear no sound.
when i disconnect the headset, everything work perfectly again...

exept this problems it´s a great rom !!!

Sorry Xplode... I've tried ALL releases 19716 and 19199 and in ALL I notice problems in connecting to wireless networks.. in many cases can't even connect especially in WPA, WPA2.

The only 6.1 ROM that supports this driver is in the endind links in this post.

As you say... before instaling the wifi v2 all roms beave the same in wireless... (easy connecto to adoc and WEP and big probs in WPA; WPA2 no even being able to connect).
AFTER installing wifiv2 never more had an issue connecting to any network WEP and WPA... (the same networks that before I could not connect)

PS: In think that many ppl have probs with MMS, I never managed to configure and use MMS in my BA, With this ROM 19716 MMS IS OK!!! I finnaly managed to send one MMS, couldn't bellieve!!


The strange thing is why dis driver only works in this specific ROM 19716?????? no other 19716 or 19199 supports it...!!!!!

I just upgraded. This is great, nice work :)
But i have a problem, and this was before i upgraded.
I thought upgrading would solve it, but it didn't. For quite some time i haven't been able to connect to internet or do a wifi connection. On the comm manager says "No data connection exists", it's greyed out and there's no way to turn on the data connection. :(
Can somebody help me with this? I would really appreciate it

xplode - great work! This is a very nice and fast ROM (ok, the black color is not really to my taste but that can be customized). It has a few minor bugs but otherwise it works great...

Thank you for your ROM.

I have installed it on my BA and it went smoothly. My problem is that when I try to install any external apps, the screen goes black and after 30 - 60 seconds it allow me to reboot it, but the R & D are showing as 0.00.

Have to perform a Hard Reset and the the R & D are showing the correct versions.

Problem, is that my BA constantly crashes.

Any ideas ?

typing from my ba :d and 4gb runs fine since i bought it :D:p it's a memoq brand non shdc 150X but runs a bit slower rispect on a card reader on pc...

I have problems with GSM network too.

When i lost signal for few moments (eg. 10 min), i can't reconnect to network. Reconnect failure attempts crashed GSM module (i can't even "Turn Phone ON" manualy). Helps me only reset.
I don't have this kind of problems on WM5 (i use it until yesterday).

Upgrade.exe is self extracting rar archive which contains everything you need to run the upgrade utility, and it is automated to run maupgradeut_noid.exe after extraction to temporary folder. Upgrade.exe is not in the EXTROM folder it is in the main directory of the rar archive which you downloaded

the sd card insertion wont have an effect, it's for auto installation of the ExtROM contents after the loading.
i'm still new to HTC phones/ppc's but in my opinion, why install a BA rom (xda 2s) into an xda 2i or 2? (btw, since u said its an xda ii, not sure if you're using a 2S.

I had installed xplode's 6.1 ROM but I dont find any appreciable improvement over his 6.0 build.

Infact I notice MMS missing profile, battery discharge is fast, no improvement over WiFi.

Many times I had to reboot the device prior to activ sync with PC as PC could not recognize the device.

Yes I didnt need to run any fix for sound.


Reverted back to 6.0, happy again :)

i suggest you inquire in the himalaya section about your case (isn't himalaya also O2xdaII?). there might be people there who made the same mistake as you, or know what to do.

thanks for clearing that up. maybe you didn't notice, prior to your last post, that your "s" (for xdaIIs) wasn't where it was supposed to be (it wasn't even there in your second post) causing the confusion on our part.

i suggest you reflash to a BA rom you're comfortable with. it's weird why your unit behaved like that. maybe your Upgrade.exe file (28,743kb) wasn't downloaded completely/correctly?

So far you have been answered on every question you have asked. Nobody is ignoring you. xplode asked you a question regarding the d610 WWE that you said you are seeing and you have not responded to that. You have given two different types of device for answers. If you have not tried to reflash this ROM then I would recommend trying that. If that fails then flash a different ROM either WM6/WM6.1 or whatever you have previously used that worked. Make sure after the initial reset you push the two buttons and clear the hive and format the storage as well. Failing to do that will cause you problems. I have never had my BA hang at the 4 color screen, but I have had it fail to accept a flash once, I simply reflashed and all went well.

thank you very much for your new rom, i just started playing around with it and i really like it....

especially, i like the attached EXTROM folder with all that cabs...
but there are sever questions regarding the EXTROM, i want to ask:

i am just wondering, what excatly happens when i install the upgrade....?
what are those exe files doing? (cusTSK.exe, DelDetect.exe, ...) ?
and what, if i want to hard reset the device? will the cabs install again? or are they all deleted after first installation?
if i want to change the cabs, can i just delet some and/or add others?
are there any risks when modifying the EXTROM folder...?

ps: since the upgrade, booting the phone takles much longer.... after entering the PIN to unlock the SIM, the BA freezes until the SIM gets a connection with the carrier.... is this normal? any tipps for speeding all that up?

1. Install NetCF3.5 on your ppc.
2. Open a registry editor, I use Reso Regsitry Editor
3. Goto HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETCompactFramework (this is usually the first entry)
4. When you open this you'll see all the .NET installed version change the DWORD value of 2.0.7045.00 from 1 to 0
5. Change ethe DWORD value of 3.5.7283.00 from 0 to 1.
6. Press power to enter the standby mode (wait 15 sec and then proceed to the next step)
7. Press reset
8. Viola! you have a faster PPC

well it changes the default .net cf for WM and this way WM uses and depends entirely on .net 3.5, which speeds up the device and stability

Upgrade HOWTO:
1.Download the archive below
2.Extract it to folder in your computer
3.The password for the archive is blueangel
4.Copy EXTROM folder to your SD card (customize it if you want to)
5.Put your device in bootloader mode - For help with this step read here
6.Run Upgrade.exe to start the upgrade procedure
7.After finishing the upgrade wizard soft reset your device to exit bootloader- For help with this step read here
9.Hard reset your device - For help with this step read here
10.Allign screen
11.Wait for the instalation of the cabs from the EXTROM after that the device will soft reset

The band selection cab doesn't work on WM6, only on WM2003.

You need to downgrade to WM2003, install the .cab, select 900/1800 network, and then upgrade to WM6.

i'm sorry but no one has found an alternative at the moment. a workaround is to set messaging in the today screen... this informs you how many unread SMS's you have.

Does anyone have any trouble with the volume? My BA seems a bit low even when it on full blast. Whenever I make a call, I have to turn on the speaker to hear anything. Any ideas of the fix?

hi there more, i tried 2 flash the 2003Se Rom and putted the network in 900/1800, the phone worked just fine, then i flashed the last 6.1 from xplode rom, and the same problem... NO SERVICE, cant find network, i mean the defice finds at leats all networks in Brasil but he cant connect...

I've never used WM6.1, but i can assure you that using WM6, either Helmi's or Xplode's ROM will work with this.

Check if your battery is fully charged or if is old and needs to be replaced, this affects OS stability and the ability of BA to connect to networks.

Also, when in put the phone into manual GSM search, does it find Vivo or 72410 or 72411 or 72413 ? If it does, band selection is not working.

it's been almost two years and i've already forgotten about it, hehe...

i didn't delete the ORIGINAL WM2003SE ext rom..so only have 49mb memory as opposed to 64mb

my current condition is:
Storage = 30.10MB (In use = 21.46MB)
Program 109.12 MB (In use = 35.86MB)

and in storage card, it doesn't have 'RAM' or else..just 'storage card'

where is the xplode's latest ROM extrom installed? is it installed in STORAGE CARD or PHONE MEMORY?

where is the page pool reside? does page pool was created automatically by Xplode's latest ROM?

Other problem is that this ROM (as all of WM 6.x I saw) does not work with external Bluetooth modem, e.g. my Nokia N95 phone.

Any idea why WM5 can work with external modems but WM6 cannot?

I have the same problem, i have an Nokia 6230i and an Siemens S45... and thats very importent for me, so i dont can use any WM 6.x Rom...

I suggest you to start a new thread for your topic. Every topic should not be linked to ROM thread. It would be good on our part if we refrain ourselves to just ROM related bugs / info / queiries into this thread. This is just my view.

BA was always able (and i believe it remains with this ROM) to connect to Wifi networks using WPA security using TKIP encryption.

What it is not able still is to connect to WPA2 and/or with AES encryption.

I had same problem but solved it with flashing CE OS 5.2.19716(Build 19716.1.1.0) ROM and installing Wifi driver V2.

Is there any way to connect to WPA2/WPA-PSK with this ROM?

do you use dhcp server to asign address to the clients on SE555 or you use static IP?

if you dont use dhcp server you must manually enter IP adress and DNS address on your BA

try see if you getting IP address on your BA when you are connected to SE555

Try looking in the WifiV2 and the 19716 compatible rom for the diference... (hope is of use this idea)

I followed the steps in wiki and xplorer to upgrade to his latest rom(1st time to my sx66). It boots and works fine, however there is no extrom version and shown blank. Is this because I change the extrom when I follow the wiki? Besides, is there any side(or bad) effect on using this extrom(sw cab)? I followed the xploree's step to use sd to install the extrom(sw, cab), so now I don't know whether this extrom installed correctly or not. :confused:

I am having one problem and one question, and I really hope, you can help me now.... ;)

THE PROBLEM:
When restarting the BA, I notice that after entering the PIN for the SIM CARD, the phone freezes until it gets a signal/connection to the provider's net. the freezing also occurs when enabling the phone via CommManager when the BA has been already running.... so always after entering the PIN to 'unlock' the SIM CARD, the phone completely freezes until getting a connection.in former versions of WM, i could continue using the BA after entering the PIN. the device was looking for a connection in the background....
anyone experienced this problem?
any help's very much appreciated!!

This is the same as RAM in your desktop/laptop computer. It is used by the Operating System and programs to run, but it is not a storage location.

Bottom line, your BA is doing exactly what all of these devices do. You cannot change it, (unless you install a ROM that uses a RAM Disk), but will will leave that for a different discussion. (Or you could do a search in here for RAM Disk)

Strange thing. I notices the extrom version with radio 1.13 When I had flashed the 1.15 the version number was gone and it still is.

I thought being smart and use a empty SD card to put the EXTROM on, reset and it installed. But taking it out not much was left. Where is this stuff stored? I wil put it on the card I normally use with my BA. Can I only use .cab's on the EXTROM or also .exe?

There is no default setting for GPRS here, yu got to set manually. You cant change those colorful stripes during bootup.

grab a htc network wizard.cab from the forum somewhere and choose your country and provider.. eg. country: indonesia provider: telkomsel.. and the wizard will set up automatically for you... no need for manual work...

My mistake, I forgot to enable all incoming beams. Now all work as expected. The only problem I have found on this ROM is the wifi problem, and sometimes all my mails has gone, and I had to a program to recover it.

Xplode, I saw something that maybe can help. In all WM6.1 that I had try I had wifi problems, BUT last night I try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376938.

I realiced that the rom in question have the same wifi problem to turn on from the comm manager I can be "temporaly" solved when one click at the "Turn On WLAN". After doing that for the first time whe can turn off the wifi from the comm manager and we can TURN ON again from comm manager all the times we want.

My point is: WHY only AFTER clicking on "Turn On WLAN" the comm manager's wifi problem is solved. Well I think that the answer can be that the virtual links, just like that. I mean, is like when we use linux and sometimes one virtual link is missing and we only created againg. I don't know if I explained myself.

The big problem is, if that is the problem, then how can we permanently create the virtual link?

That is my ponit, please correct me if I'm wrong, I just want to help.

What you say is indeed correct but that's been the issue with all ROM's, the problem XPlode is now looking into is that once the Wifi is connected, you can't connect to WPA/WPA2 networks... And that only the issue with 6.1

this rom, it's the only one that allows me to install the wifi V2 driver (after I turn of phone, beam and everything) and succesfully connect to WPA afterwards...

When I install the V2 driver on your ROM (even after turning of phone and beam) I can't even connect to wifi anymore....

i Think that it will be better to release stable rom 6.0 with stable wifi, i mean that is loos of time makink new roms 6.1 and up, better try make 6.0 or 6.1 with working wi-fi becouse almost in all roms its dont work ;(. Well yes, but with this ROM you won't be able to connect to WPA, that I know, XPlode is looking into it but I can fairly imagine it's not easy to find...

i found trick
1. tap beam on setting, check it. do not turn on with com manager, start from setting menu.
2. go to bt connection, then turn it on.
3. send file or receive files
4. work!

i dont know how, may be xplode can explain it, or just open your registry and modify it. xplode, there another way to simplify it? i mean just turn beam on your comm manager, not from setting menu.
