Mogul GPS question

Hi. I just wanted to know if it's possible to use the GPS features of the mogul by upgrading the radio, and nothing else. I've already tried to flash the radio only to a dummy mogul i had and ended up bricking it. I wanted to see if that was a clumsy mistake on my part, or is an upgrade absolutely needed.


P.S. sorry if this question has already been asked on the forums. I tried to use the search feature to check and couldn't find the answer to this particular question.:(

The radio update only provides an interface to the GPS hardware. Drivers, etc. are part of the ROM update. As such, you'd either need to update the rom as well, or somehow hack the necessary drivers and software into your current install. I am no expert on the feasibility of doing that, but my intuition is that it'd be much easier for you to just update the rom.
