Tried it - still very slow on my Trinity WM6 compared to opera mini. Also I encountered many freezes of the ppc and had t soft reset.
Maybe it's not meant to be used on qvga screens at all.
Will still wait for the final release.

Try typing "about:config" in the address field (without the quotes)
and you can customize maaaaaaaaaaaaany settings including screen
size with Adaptive Zoom Settings. So you optimze it for QVGA Portrait
or Landscape screen. You can also change Cache Location and much more!!

To get this version set up properly type opera:config into the address bar. Then go to Adaptive Zoom hit default for everything except "Virtual Screen Width" put this to 960. This will set it to the same settings as 9.0 v.331. I'm still playing around with this setting to see if I can get QVGA screens to do the smart zoom to text like on OperaMini.

You you can change many settings there including Adaptive zoom, however that is only PART of the solution to getting Opera to properly fit to screen on a QVGA device.
These VGA optimized versions limit the paragraph width to VGA dimensions... not QVGA ones... It is possible to make some adjustments to the adaptive zoom settings to compensate for this.. but for many sites it is not enough. We need to be able to adjust the limit on the paragraph width... like it does in Opera Mini.
I know this could not be done in the config section of Opera Mobile 9.33 ....can it be done in 9.405? There is an option to turn the "limit paragraph width" on and off, but not to adjust the actual width.

ah.. you're right.. I had my adaptive zoom min overview set to 30 to get it to zoom out for a better page view like 9.33, but that seems to screw up the paragraph width. Looks like there's no easy way of getting both the full page view and the fit to width.

I have two problems with this:
1. I would like you have a left-handed landscape mode, but Opera Mobile always changes it back to right-handed.
2. On the Google page in the upper row I can click on my mail address to get to the Gmail Inbox. But Opera Mobile does not open the url behind this link: It recognizes an email address and so start my mail program (flexmail). Can I change this behavior?
edit:
3. When I enter a "space" into an input field two spaces will be added instead of one.

I have been through opera:config - same difference - with a reasonably fine tooth comb but can't find anything. Shame, with the space issue, the ability to map the search utility to Google would make this very useful.

Using the 9.405 version created over at ppcgeeks. It works great, and is uninstallable and all. For beta release, it works well. I've found a couple sites that don't work, but overall, its' quite nice.
The primary issue I do have with it whenever I enter ANY text into fields (i.e. login and passwords), it enters in an extra space. E.g. if I want to enter "text", it actually types in:
" t e x t" (note leading spaces, and ignore quotes)
Its not a HUGE issue, just an annoyance. I can remove the spaces. Though it gets tricky on passwords since they are masked. Have to remember its always a leading space, not trailing.
BTW, this could be the issue some people are having logging into sites.
Anyone esle have this issue? Any fix for it known?
I'm using PCM Keyboard, though I think it happens with any SIP method.
UPDATE: Oops, I just noticed the post a few above this where someone has the same issue. OK. I haven't tried with the default. I used PCMK and HTC keyboards. Hmmm, ok I guess this is a minor workaround for now.

Is anyone else finding that word completion doesn't work? It works when entering names for bookmark folders but doesn't for fields on web forms. Also although I don't get a space in between each letter, when I press space after the end of a word I get two spaces. Does anyone else see this? Another thing with the zoom facility. It would be better if it had the option of having a system like opera mini as the double click can cause problems if you have a webpage with a javascript keyboard (like the password entry on citibank website). If you tap the virtual keys too quickly the screen zooms in and out. On the plus side, I do like the way password fields display characters briefly before changing to an asterisk (like Symbian). The standard WinMo password entry can be problematic if you are using handwriting recognition as you can't tell what letter it thinks you wrote.
It's a shame you don't get obvious visual feedback when clicking a link. Sometimes the screen goes white and a blue progress bar appears, other times it just sits there with the link highlighted in grey for ages and you don't know whether you clicked it properly. The screen going white is annoying - it would be better if the current page just stayed displayed until the new one is ready to load. I'm sure I'll end up buying this because of its compatibility with most web sites but there's a lot that the free opera mini does much better.
Hopefully these sorts of issues will be ironed out with the official beta and subsequent releases. But who knows when that will be ....

Again I switched back to Opera 8.65.
This bug was too annoying: If I minize Opera Mobile 9 and it loads something in the background the smooth scrolling feature won't work anymore. The image stays the same while scrolling and then jumps directly to the new scrolled position. This makes the navigation very hard and I had to restart the application.

Well, OperaL.exe is the loader file that displays the splash screen when Opera boots. Opera.exe is the actual Opera file.
Have you tried adding both of those? I dunno. That's my suggestion. I could be way off.

Well, OperaL.exe is the loader file that displays the splash screen when Opera boots. Opera.exe is the actual Opera file.
Have you tried adding both of those? I dunno. That's my suggestion. I could be way off.
Thanks that seems to work.

This is a great browser, but i really hate being redirected to WAP sites (like google or espn), is there any work around? I cant seem to find the setting.
type opera:config on the url bar and search for agent
you can figure it out from there ;)

Hi to all Opera users
Please visit this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486502
The idea is to have in one thread all the different versions of Opera 9.5 circulating all over the forum, to get easy acces to them.
Please feel free to share about this and hope all can contribute
Thanks,
