I understand that someone recently released a ROM that makes it possible for Pocket PC Techs to upgrade RAM for the Universal/JasJar.
Is anyone working on a new ROM for the Hermes/8525/TyTn which would make possible a RAM upgrade?
Thanks,

I think the Universal has spaces on the board for extra RAM chips (uses same RAM chips as Blue Angel, which surprised me) but that the device doesn't use it unless a ROM which is specifically designed to make it do so.
Haven't heard anyone mention any extra room on the motherboard of a Hermes but I'd love it if there was - one of my 2 Hermes has poor radio and 'd happily cannibalise itto double the memory on the newer one. :)
(By an odd coincidence, Blue Angel, Universal and 2 Hermes are the devices I own and I will cannibalise the BA in this way when it gives out.)

I have discussed this with a technician who told me that the impediment is the ROM, that a cooked ROM would permit a RAM upgrade.
I sure wish someone would do it. I like my 8525. Great:) reception, great speakerphone, and easy to type on accurately.

I'm hoping to get the attention of a talented programmer in the forum!

Again, I have it on good authority that a new ROM would permit a RAM upgrade for the Hermes. There must be someone with the skill and interest to do this.
The Hermes is a great phone, compromised only by the RAM issue , in my view.

I doubt it would be a feasible thing to do since there is very little in terms of free real estate on the board??
The Universal had the headers and pads to hook on new chips and as this thread suggests the ROM upgrade was modified to use the added chips.
TBH the ROM would be easily done as with the uni but the physical room for the ram chips wouldnt be there?
