View Full Version : Playing Music With Windows Media Player With The Screen Off

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone has a solution for my problem.... I can't seem to get the music to play when I press the power button on my phone. There has to be a way to make it so the screen with blacked out/turned off and still have the music playing. I use my phone as a music player while at work but having the screen on for that many hours, even on the lowest brightness setting drains the battery fairly quick.

I don't doubt that the solution is super simple!

yeah have a look in the options and head to where u map the keys, theres n option to toggle the screen.
I've got my kaiser set so when I press the middle nav button the screen goes off.

I have an ELfin running cloudifa's shadow 2.1 rom and my htc plays music on standby as-is.

When the headphones is plugged in, you can switch the screen off with the powerbutton ;) Now you know that too :)

just add this value in the BDR :

"HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences"
parm name="UnattendedPlayback" value="1" datatype="integer"

no soft reset, this work fine !

I am running an enhanced Touch with a stock ROM on Rogers in Canada and have no problem turning the screen off. First, I start WMP, click on "Play" then push the power button down for 1 second. The screen turns off and the music keeps playing, however, if I want to change the track or volume, I have to press the power button again first to turn the screen back on. This works with both the OEM wired headset as well as my BT Stereo headset.
