May be useful:
In short: there is no need to press Camera + Record quickly. Just press and hold them before reset.

Details:
Put left hand below the device
Put 1st finger (thumb) on the right side of the device
Put 2nd finger (index finger) on the camera button
Put 3rd finger (middle finger) on the record button
Hold the device in the left hand
Press and hold camera and record buttons. Hold them all the time.
Put stylus into reset hole and press reset (using right hand)
All the time hold camera and record buttons.
Wait for color stripes with menu
Release buttons.

Next steps - as usually.

I use an even less hassle-free method. I found that there is always a time lag after the colour screen appears before the menu displays. So all I do is do the normal reset and then press and hold the record and camera buttons until the menu appears. There is no need to do that in too much of a hurry. You have ample time to leisurely turn the device to a convenient position after doing the normal reset.
