Am I able to use other GPS programmes on "The Cruise"? Other than TomTom, that is.

Yes it will run any GPS software for Pocket PC e.g Co-Pilot or Route 66

Yes,
Mine came pre-installed with CoPilot.
I installed a demo version of MemoryMap a few weeks ago.
And yesterday I installed a demo version of TomTom.
I'm also using GoogleMaps with full GPS integration.
I guess I like maps!
No problems to report
