I am currently testing the guide mentioned in "Development and Hacking" for upgrading your .NET Compact Framework from 2.0 to 3.5. I am testing it on C_Shekhar's WM6.1 ROM. It has installed and I have changed the settings but cannot notice any speed boost by eye just yet. I haven't benchmarked it and probably won't. It doesn't appear to be any slower as the current Shekhar rom is amazingly fast already.
I will test it overnight (it is 3pm in Australia at time of posting) and let people know how it goes.

Does anybody know what the benefits of the new compact framework are?
Can they be used with our roms? (I guess I'll find out soon!)
If it can, and it is a benefit to have it, is there a way to remove the old 2.0 framework?

Anyway, the thread is here:

EDIT1: Bah humbug, apparently I am unable to uninstall the previous CF 2.0, so it won't make much of a difference being able to use this one over the top. It can probably be used to speed up a clean rom, that doesn't come with CF 2.0, unless it is somehow cooked into the new WM6.1.

Afaik .Net CF 3.0 is part of WM 6.1 and therefore .Net CF 1.0 and 2.0 are included as well.

Hi Sascha,
I think you will find, if you follow the steps to look at your current version in the registry, the version that comes with C_Shekhar's WM6.1 ROM is in fact the .NET CF 2.0 version still. That is what I found on my version (the new B version of the WM6.1 ROM).
