OK you guys are putting out some killer roms and I can't wait until I get a little more experience to start cooking myself, but for now I'll just be a follower. My question is: I want to try out all these different roms, but it is a pain reinstalling all my favorite apps. Yes I have sprite back up, and I do make backups of my configurations and apps, but I've read that you should only use the backup with the rom that it was backed up with. In other words don't use a dutty rom backup with a new alex rom. Is there a way to make a backup of the configuration ie. apps with the way I like it and try it out with different roms without having to reinstall apps each time I try a new rom? I hope this makes sense... Thanks in advance and keep on cooking, as it will not be long before I'm in on the mix.
Thanks,
JMan

It only took me 3 tries using the SEARCH function to find all the past info you will need for your thread.

I know that it is very easy for people to say "use search dammit", and sometimes search is not all that helpful...but this is one case where a little bit of leg work would have got you the answer.

Here are the search terms that i used to get at least 2 really good discussions on this.

rom backup settings programs

Try there 1st.

Sorry bro I must admit that the main intent of my post was to praise the local cooks here for their roms and then just tagged the questions with it. I'm usually pretty good and reading before I ask, but in this case did not and was going on prior searches that advised only certain backups with certain roms. Sorry to start off on the wrong foot this morning/week and I'll get back to searching and reading. No worries I hope..
Thanks again,
JMan

No worries here :D

Hopefully I was not harsh...I tried to make my reply not so.

Seems like a whole lot of quick and harsh flaming of late when someone does not search, or read the sticky. Certainly some of that flaming is deserved, but we all make mistakes....or miss the answer with searches etc.

I try to be a kinder, gentler replier.

Again, no worries here. i am really glad this forum is here and I learn something new almost every day!!!!

I really dont see a point in all this flaming. i understand all senior or old users of this forum that they get annoyed with noobie questions. but instead of flaming, you could just ignore the questions, if not actively help. 90% of the times telling people to use google will not make them use google. it will just make them reply to you and telling you various reasons why they didnt use it or they used it but with no use. so help or rather keep your mouth shut.
this has nothing to do literally with the discussion above, where @kwickone was a nice and helping person. respect!

No Worries or disrespect at all from this side of the pond... Will not be the first or last time I ask or do something stupid here I can promise you that...
I'm pointed in the right direction... I'll figure it out...
Have a good one...
