I second that :-D

Although a case in a different (more personalized) colour would be nice.

Where can I buy the case that McDoPDA just showed?
It looks quite nice although I personally prefer not to keep additional SIM cards in the same case (in case of theft etc.)

I don't care for the hanging style case with colored stripes in the video, but the other case.....
The HTC SHIFT Horizontal Leather case is more of what I am looking for.
It looks like site is not for retail purchasing :(

I have e-mail them ans ask whether we can get the case individually, if that's not possible, depends on how many people here want that case, I can negotiate a wholesale deal and sell it back to you all. Now just need to wait for their reply first.

I am not too sure whether an enclosed case is a good idea. My shift gets quite hot and has crashed before now due to everheating. I wonder whether thats the reason it is designed to be removed from the pouch. I have used either an Orbit or a laptop for a few years and I am a bit self conscious about the standard case that comes with the shift as it looks a little bit like a ladies purse. Maybe, I need to get a bit more in touch with my feminine side.

LOL :D I was thinking the same thing about the pouch case. To me also it looks to much like a ladies purse or in my case "a man's bag"
That is the main reason I am looking for replacement not because the orginal case is not good quality it is but because it reminds me of a womans hand bag.

Hi I would be interested in the horizontal one, for the right price?

Hi ALL, I have contacted them and got the reply, they can't sell it to individual, so the only solution is wholesale, minimun order is 50 unit, each will cost 35 pounds without shipping. If there are enough people who want this case, i can arrange the wholesales, otherwise i guess we will just have to wait....

so drop your e-mail down if you wish to buy one and we will see

Thanks for the link that is a nice case, I would love to see a brown leather case option but still worth getting in black.
I tried to place an order but it appears to be out of stock :(

This case has "some" good attributes but it also has some stupid ones in my opinion. The fact that most sides of the device are unprotected is stupid, I put my Shift in the glove box in between using it and I can just see the other stuff in my glove box rubbing up against the sides of the shift, I am looking for a flip type case instead of the original case but I think it is simple, its all in the name "CASE" I need to find one that encases my shift so all of it is protected, not just top and bottom.

I must admit, I like the case - it seems to be much more useful than the original slip case (and also looks better).

However, I'd also agree with seal on the protection of the sides. While I can understand keeping the plugs (and the power switch) uncovered for easy access, I would like to see better protection for the other parts, especially the corners.

What I find quite funny is that they suggest combining the case with their magnetic car kit. I am sure this car kit works well with the usual PDAs or portable navigation systems. I just wonder how long it would take for the Shift to go flying. It is somewhat (3-4 times) heavier than a standard PDA / phone .

I just got my case from proporta, nice case, now my shift is sitting nicely inside and i don't need to take it out to use it because it's a flip style case. I think this is much more useful then the original one since you need to take it out of the case to use it or charge it. Quality of the case is not bad, but could be better, afterall, you are only paying £20 for it. I will keep an eye on other more expensive manufacture and if another flip case comes out, i will make the purchase.

I prefer stay with the HTC case instead of having problem with the sides of my Shift.

I just got my proporta case :) it is made of average quality leather with is fine with me since the cost is resonable only $35.00 USD. The case basically fits just like my HTC advangtage case. With the advantage I got the invisibleSHIELD to protect the shell of the advantage.
invisibleSHIELD now has one for the HTC shift, i just ordered it.
http://www.invisibleshield.com/laptop/htc/shift.php

I get these invisibleSHIELDS for all my devices the shields cover the entire device and they hold up for the life of device. They also add some extra gripping power once applied. The shields are very thin I have continued to use the same case or carrier I used before I installed the shield after I have installed shields on. I am not sure if I will use the invisibleSHIELD for the touch screen on the shift it dose come with it, but I find that the screens are too shiny on my other devices if use screen protector from invisibleSHILED. I prefer it for only for exterior shell of my devices.

I think I will like the combination of the proporta case plus invisibleSHIELD for my uses. I plan use the shift in the car as well and have to take out of the case to place in a car holder. I also like carrying the shift in this proporta case it looks more like a thick noteboook now and not a man's purse.

here are some pics of my shift in its new case. I will try post more once I get the invisibleSHILED on it. I also show put my advantage in the screenshoots for comparison.

Please try out the invisibleSheild on the screen and let us know how it works. Im curious about getting one as a replacement screen protector. The HTC one is all scratched to hell on my Shift. Im curious is the invisibleSheild takes away from the inking/touch screen functionality at all.

Thanks :-)

You might also consider this "man" bag. I have been using one now for 6 months. I carry my Athena in it, but have checked it and verified the Shift fits.

The bag nicely organizes extra keyboard, mouse, usb wires and power charger. It has room for my glasses case, a flashlight, screwdriver and most everything I need when I make service calls. No need to carry anything else.

I'm using this one to carry my Shift :
Tumi Small Messenger Bag (http://www.tumi.com/travel_luggage/new_arrivals/category_search/small_messenger_bag/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=97482)
You can put your Shift in a vertical position (I'm still using the HTC Leather case) in addition to charger, mouse and external HDD...

Hi i also second ur opinion regarding the same case... though i have expressed my views regarding HTC SHift in another thread as well, i'll express my case specific views here too:

Keeping my kind of a multitasked life style in view (a medical doctor, a business man, a GPS System's Consultant, etc) - i would suggest u all to buy a Case Logic HDC-2 case ... it fits the shift well in it's original cover, fits in its charger, usb hub, a portable laser mouse, my stationary kit, my digital camera, a portable DVD writer, my mobile travel charger, candys to give me instant energy if reqd. and small nit bits like my 3 types of visiting cards, etc.). I normally carry the bag around with me in my car or on travel. Let the bag primarity lie in the car/hotel room as the case maybe and take only the shift in its leather case along while going for a meeting or to meet a client etc. and use the other bag contents as per need. But let me tell u that carrying this small kit has helped me out in so many conditions that i just cant thank HTC for making such a good device and to Case Logic for unkowingly creating such a good case to carry my stuff. (Case Logic HDC-2 is actually a HDD carrying case... but it fits the shift and it's accessories just right!) (see the pics)

For me carrying the shift in a harddisk carrying case gives me all the more comfort because i feel if a case is designed to protect a HDD, it can protect my Shift well!

And another thing: this bag fits perfectly and tightly in the space between any car's front seats ... so it stays there intact inspite of any bumps or pits on Indian Roads during the rainy season! ;-)

Yes I recommended also Case Logi HDC-2 is small and very protective, with many pockets, good for travel, and not that expensive-you can buy it in PC World for about 20 £,

Hi,

This forum is awesome and I apologize for not contributing as I should!

But better later than never...
For those with specific needs there's the option of having it custom made.

You can choose size, material, type (flip, full cover...etc), hot stamp your name or image on a patch and have it sewn on onto the case... to sum up: whatever you may want.

Probably there's other options but the one I found is this:
http://www.brewer-cantelmo.com/store/item.asp?ITEM_ID=17&DEPARTMENT_ID=27

Downside: it wont be cheap...

Best to you n have a nice weekend!

I just ordered the proporta case, it seems to have a very nice look, and is flip-able, meaning you don't have to take out the shift completely. Something that might be useful to people who often use their shift for a few minutes only.

Lucid,

I have this one already, it is really very handy. Recently I have got my Mugen power battery, and I have modded the case to fit my Shift in.
First problem was that I couldn't close the case. I have cut away the magnet clip, and made it longer from another old case which I don't use already. Than I straightened the side holders of the case, and put an additional leather layer inside for better friction. It holds still very well, see the photo's below. Not a factory quality but I am happy with it !
