Alright so everyone can prob agree... We have all these sweet ass phones that we mod ourselves to give it our own touch. Well don't you hate it when people go to see your phone and they're all like, "Hey let me see that, it looks sweet!!" blah blah blah... then they go and look in your text messages. Kinda annoying when I let someone play with my device and they try to get into my personal business.

Well basically what I am asking with all the talent out there... Is there a simple program that someone(s) would be willing to try to create that makes our SMS passcoded. Basically anytime you want to go into your messaging folder that includes your inbox, sent, outbox, drafts... that they need to enter in a simple 4 digit passcode. I bet I'm not the only one that would like this program....

Thanks in advance!

i would love to have something like this...not just for sms but for all programs. i remember my first cheap phone (motorola) they have this feature to block/allow apps and be passcoded. it would be great to have something like this....just a question as if its a popular request i guess....:(

I have been wanting this since I pulled my Tild out of the box. Couldn't find it so I eventually bought this;

It's okay, but as I said in another thread it can be a little *clunky* to use. And I know I paid WAY TOO much for something that should eb relatively simple.

Been trying this out for a while today... works pretty good... Just kinda plain and boring looking though. So if anyone is still up to the challenge to make something very similar but maybe a little more modern looking.

Hey all,

I agree with the fact that this type of software could be in high demand. I am not a developer myself, but I did design a Wisbar theme called VistaMobile (http://www.protogenlabs.com/notebook/36/vistamobile-pocketpc-vga-theme-finally-completed), so I would definitely be willing to skin the program if someone could do the coding. I really love this whole PPC scene (started with an MPx200 Smartphone about 3 years ago, now using an HTC Uni), and I really want to give back and be a part of something more than the VistaMobile theme I had created.

I should also be able to host the file with a dedicated page on my protogenLabs site, if any developers are out there and wishing to team up.

That might just be wishful thinking, but regardless, it would be great have a stylish version of this type of program. More and more people in North America are finally getting used to Windows Mobile being somewhat mainstream, so I think it's a good market ready to flourish!

Sorry if I went on a bit of a tangent, but I'm all for a program that would do this sort of thing.

PM or contact me from my protogenLabs (http://protogenLabs.com/contact) page if you are a dev interested in partnering up with a designer for ANY projects really...

Thanks!

it's called Ez Secret SMS and works great but on VGA devices the password keypad is unusable

We need a simple software to ask for a password when entering messaging. That's it, no funky lists and fluffy software. May the Force(of developers) be with us

glad to see everyone agrees with me, its nice to think that this is something that everyone would enjoy as much as me. So developers check this out! If your a developer or someone that think you might be able to take this on... leave some feedback on here instead of just reading then leaving... again thanks everyone, we'll be waiting!

There's to be no talk of WAREZ on this site.

You should try reading the rules

11. Don't get us all in trouble

Don't post copyrighted materials or do other things that will obviously lead to legal trouble. If you wouldn't do it on your own homepage, you probably don't want to do it here either. This does in no way mean we agree with everything Hollywood, the record companies and the software piracy lobby try to impose on us, it simply means you cannot break any laws here since otherwise we'll end up dealing with your legal hassle. Please use common sense: respect the forum, its users, and those that write great code.

i don't think so... i think a simple password prompt for accessing SMS/Email messages would be cool.. problem is, all the software currently out there is bloat and full of extra stuff that most of us don't need.

this can probably be done with mortscript but again, it requires additional installed programs..

i'm still looking around, but there isn't much in terms of what we're looking for.

now if we could only get some interested coders in this thread to whip something up :cool:

eye on privacy is a good one... theres alot of other stuff like a "safe sms" inbox that stores txts you don't want other people to see when you enter a 2ndary password. It can also lock dialing functions, call history, contacts, calender, tasks, and notes.

Then it gets into some really paranoid features that no one will ever use unless you're 007.

The pin screen that comes up when you go to your inbox is very finger friendly but the one that comes up when you go to the program to set the password and change settings is not.

I've just written a reallybasic one with mortscript soon to be posted in the accumulations thread, but i have a very simple workaround:
using file explorer, go into windows\start menu\programs and delete the messaging link. then create a mortscript which does nothing but run messaging but call it something obscure that know one would think to click like the certificates page in settings, how many people ever open that?
so you can quickly access it if you want

I had this idea too.
we can prompt for password. but them problem is if the text messagin application live open this script wouldn't prompt for password again.

the solution is we create a non-end while loop so another mortscript live in memory after a period of time it close text messaging app and prompt for password again.

messaging password (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=76528&d=1205929104) is a simple script for opening messaging, you will need morscript to run it (link in my signature) the password is currently set to 1234
see post 286 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2038184#post2038184) for more details on how to change the password and how to add or use for other programs

I came across the thread by accident, and got me thinking...
I like the previous version, by can't remember who now. but fancied more of a password than loads of selects input boxes, so came up with this.

i'm no programmer, so code may not be perfect.
also not tested loads, but is more of an idea at the mo, see if anyone can build on it...

at the mo, it works first time, just having trouble (or not waiting long enough for the timer to reset) with it asking for the password the second time.

well here it is

#password.mscr

#settings
#turn on or off, 1 = on,
ch_on = 1
entered = 0
window = "Messaging"
password = "1234"

while (ch_on = 1)
if (wndActive(window))
while (entered = 0)
# wait for program to load
sleep 50
if (entered = 1)
else
pass = input ("Enter Password")
#checked password
if (pass = password)
entered = 1
sleep 1000
while (entered = 1)
if (wndActive(window))
sleep 50000
else
# entered = 0
endif
endwhile
else
entered = 0
endif
endif
endwhile
entered = 0
endif
sleep 1000
endwhile

by the way not think it's that bad since it was wrote on the train this morning using my uni lol

I didn't read trough to page 3 :(
but I whipped up a similar application, CF.NET is required, it works the
same as the above.
I've included a version of my shortcut creator to create the new lnk

you can include any exe/lnk just mention it in the FileList.ini
password can be entered in the settings.ini

how does it work
create a lnk to LockDown.exe with an argument e.g. msg
select the icon to be used, I used the one for tmail.exe (to make it look the same)

msg is mentioned in the FileList.ini to be linked to \Windows\tmail.exe

using the link will show lockdown which needs a password, default is set to 12345

Let me know what you think.

Yeah, i know, this is because it has to load, I might look into it
e.g. having the program running and looking for window names...

but first i need to figure out how to do this :D

Is there a way to shrink it all by about 1/3 i've got a square screen, and needing to scroll to stick a PIN in may be a pain.

Thanks for the App though, works well, does the job :)

but this program is not meant for that, its to make sure people don't just go read your messages when you hand over your phone, anyone with a little windows knowledge and time can circumvent this program (this version)

for sure!
It has some features which look interesting though.
There is also one Ez Secret which I have not given it a shot.

Funny, I remember a little program (in Symbian though but anyway) that could move messages (at the time they arrived) and also alter details (time of send etc) It was cool :)
