Hello,
Go to HTC CLUB :

Hot fix for TyTN II photo quality issue
If you zoom in on a captured photo and notice grainy, maze-like patterns within the image itself (this problem is caused by too much sharpness enhancement being applied in bright-light environments), please download and install this hot fix to solve the problem. Sharpness parameters within the photo will then be reduced with only a minimal loss of image sharpness.

Thought that it was a fix to get beter camera software overall :p
_Alex_
7th March 2008, 09:42 AM
I wouldn't be surprised if this fix is already included in AT&T 1.62 ROM release and possibly in Nadavi's 5.04 camera CAB which was ripped from the Polaris.
Remember folks, this is an upgrade for TyTN II Camera, which means WM6.0 HTC ROM 1.56, released in August 2007. If you remember back, the last HTC 'fix' (bluetooth) was already in AT&T 1.60 ROM.
Guess we'll need to wait and see, since the links are down...

It's not a camera program. It replaces some of the drivers. Camera feels much smoother but it felt like it was going to freeze every once in a while.

I've just downloaded the cab and I thought I'd share my findings:
CIF.DLL is version 3.21.00. All other CIF.DLLs I've looked at are branded with the version of the ROM (e.g., v1.62 for AT&T ROMs, v3.08 for vodafone WM6.1 leaked ROM).
So this seems to be newer than any ROM out there (and eludes to a future HTC WM6.1 3.21 release)
CIF.DLL was *NOT* found in Nadavi's 5.04 Camera cab, so in the future, he may want to include this one.
ModuleID.DLL is just HTC's setup.dll, that checks to make sure it's being installed on the correct HTC device.
It is superfluous if you choose to integrate this cab directly into a cooked ROM.Hope this helps!

May I ask how do you know that? I didn't want to install the cab, so I've extracted and copied both dlls to Windows directory.
Now, according to what you are writing, moduleid.dll is unnecessary?

Now, according to what you are writing, moduleid.dll is unnecessary?
The text strings within the DLL itself show it's clearly an installer.
It's not found in 3.08 or 1.62 (those are the roms I have extracted right now), and if you want to do the research, I'm sure you'll find it's not found in any other extracted ROM
There are no calls from the new CID.DLL to it.
I seem to recall a similar file with the HTC bluetooth fix. I couldn't verify this, because I threw the extra bits away and only kept the important part...You can validate my claims until you're satisfied or you can just trust my findings.
Hope this helps!

Yes, but JPEG is a lossy compression format, meaning that when you compress you will lose data. So when you reduced the size, you also changed the image quality... So any image reduced in size will always look worse than the original in JPEG format.

Makes a noticeable difference in quality of photo and the camera video smoothness, though the autofocus is slow (still).
The burst mode seems better too.
Haven't tested in sunlight yet but from my experiences I would recommend it for the chefs.

just copy the cab file anywhere on your device when its connected to your PC via activesync, then launch the cab from file explorer. It may ask you whether or not you want to install to device or storage card, and you should pick device, but other than that, you will not be asked anything else. Just run it, let it install, and soft-reset. The location you place the cab file in on your device makes no difference to where to installs.

Lets be realistic
All these cabs and little tweaks may help a little, but we still have a camera that is piss, compared to other camera's on mobile phones. Still hoping for a fix.

It depends on which phones you are comparing with. Most phones I know have a similar bad camera (including E90 which may be slightly better). But there are just a hand full of phones with a significant better camera and none of them are Windows Mobile devices.

Hi guys, I just did a before/after test to see the effect of the HTC TyTN II photo quality patch. I'm attaching two files, one before and one after applying the patch. These are 100% crops (no resizing) of the two 3 MP images.
Notice the maze-like patterns in the sky which are completely eliminated after applying the patch. It appears that the patch causes a slight reduction in detail, but overall the images after the patch are more pleasing to the eye and less grainy than before.
I think the patch is worth it.

Edit: Note that this patch is only for the old WM 6.0 ROM. If you're using the new WM 6.1 ROM you don't need to apply this patch because it's already in there, and you may screw things up if you re-apply it.

I have WM 6.1 too.
You didn't read DrXDA post:
"Note that this patch is only for the old WM 6.0 ROM. If you're using the new WM 6.1 ROM you don't need to apply this patch because it's already in there, and you may screw things up if you re-apply it."
So, if you have WM 6.1,
Just install: "Nadavi_HTC_Camera_5_0_4_2915_00.cab"
and
Do NOT install: "Nadavi_HTC_Camera_5_0_4_2915_00_NEW_HTC_FIX.cab"

DrXDA - are you positive this is ONLY for wm6.0? Users in this thread have signatures stating they are using a custom 6.1 rom and claim the cab works for them

After reading a bit, it would be nice to have all the fixes for the HTC camera in v4 vs v5 so that the scroll wheel could be used on our Kaisers/Tilts while in camera mode.

Anyone was ever able to get zooming in/out working while video shooting with KAIS130 TyTN II?
