Hey DCD, just tried out the 1.0.1. I have a Telus Vogue. Flashed fine. :)

- The backlight settings worked for me....I can change the backlight while on battery or plugged in.

- Trying to activate the cube gave the error and needed a soft reset.

- Opening device information opened fine for me.

If there's anything else that needs checking, let me know.

Thanks for the great work! :)

On your 1.0 rom I was able to go into HKLM\Software\OEM\Tflowsettings (or something like that) , and set enablecube=0, which disables the cube when Tflo is installed. This also fixed the problem with the down-up swipe on your rom, however it did not fix the left-right swipe in the mail program. In your new rom 1.01, this registry key is gone. All else is great. Thanks for your work. Maybe adding the old key and disabling the cube will fix the error (at least the down-up). Oh, and you don't have to soft reset when you get the error, just click the center hardbutton. Thanks.

Dustin

Here is the reg entry :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363285

Hah, adding the reg fixed the downup swipe. I'll test the left right swipe now.

Edit - It does not fix the error for the side swipe in the mail or any other application that supports it. Maybe another reg key is needed, although I don't have all of the old keys and I don't feel like flashing the another rom. Can anyone tell me, or get a screen shot, of all of the keys under /hklm/software/oem/tflosettings? Thanks.

DCD,
Nice work!

With reference to this change...

03-01-08 removed multi-NAI (tethering detection) stuff from sprint

Could you please point me in the right direction to remove this manually?
Can they really detect tethering?

Has the missing button from the contacts cube bug been fixed in this release?

Edit: It looks like the version with T-Flo and Cube still intact was scrapped for this revision?

TFlo is actually still active even though it's not supposed to be. I can still scroll. Can someone please give me the TFLO reg entries? Thanks.

I installed this Rom on a Bell Vogue and its working fine. I just wanted to know if there is a way to enable or install the TouchFLO and HTC Cube? I searched around here and PPCGeeks and could only find cab files for the HTC Home, Album, Audio Manager, etc, but not the actual TouchFLO interface. Does anybody have a link to the latest version?

yes they can detect tethering with the stock rom, the connection xml sets up 2 connections. a registry key multi-nai is set = 1. this sets up a second NAI which is used for internet sharing.

i removed this stuff from the provxml files in OEM and let internet sharing use the default NAI which is what your phone uses for data. now all your provider sees is your phone using data.

sprint was the only provider of all vogue dumps i have that does this.

just curious if anyone is experiencing any lock-ups with this rom as with the other 6.1 roms? such as after a long phone call, using pie/opera for a long time, a long press on the on-screen keyboard, etc...?

thanks.

there is a reg entry referencing rilphone that gets deleted too, yes, but not rilphone.dll itself.
i removed it from the same provxml file, forgot to mention that one earlier.

So, is a 'non-stock' ROM safe from detection?
And, if not, how do I keep them from detecting me?
ie, which specific registry edit needs to be checked/made?

Thanks,

has anyone else tried user customization yet?

i tried it (for my first time I might add), and nothing happened once it was booted up.

i have the sdconfig.txt file, with all the right syntax. it is not unicode. i flashed twice, and once (weakly) tried to edit the dcd uc sys folder by adding an initflashfiles.txt in there to add sdautorun.exe and autorun.exe to the \windows folder but...still nothing.

any ideas anyone?

Yep it works. I'm doing a hard-reset right this second and it's installing the cabs from my SD card just fine.

You sure you have SDConfig.txt on the root folder of your MicroSD card? Also, your MicroSD card MUST be named 'Storage Card'.

It looks like your file is the problem. I know the format of this file is VERY PICKY. You have 'LOCK:Enabled' when there should be a space reading 'LOCK: Enabled' ...right there the prob is in the first line and it doesn't run the rest of the script. Also, try removing spaces from the file names of cabs (I don't think this is a prob though) Here's mine.

Thanks for the great ROM, definately the fastest ROM I've used (until I added a bunch of crap via User Customization) ...I also made the pagepool a bit bigger and all runs fine.

The one thing I'm missing though is under start menu->settings->buttons, You can reconfigure 'press button 1', but there is no option to configure 'press and hold button 1'. Every other rom I've tried has the option to configure 'press and hold button 1'.

zayz,

Go install Point UI or SPB Shell 2.0 and you won't care much about the Cube anymore.

DCD,

I think there are some alarm issues with your rom. It vibrates when it first goes off, but never rings. If I tell it to sleep for a little, it will then ring. I'll do a little testing later.

Hey dcd. I posted on this a before. There is a missing registry entry for the press and hold button option. I copied the reg entry and have posted it for you.

Forgot to add the path. HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys. I used Resco Explorer to import this key automatically to the registry to save time.

Thanks! The 'press and hold button 1' is now assignable! Be sure to add it to 1.0.3 dcd :)

And as for the alarm, seems to work fine for me...the built-in alarm just sucks though, I'm using Spb time for my alarm clock.

Also, there are two backlight icons under the system settings page. This isn't really an issue however, within PointUI it calls the wrong backlight settings page which has no control over the backlight level. Thanks.

Also, I really don't know what does it, but most 6.1 roms including this one give me random freezes throughout the day. Apparently this is a common problem on 6.1 cooked roms, although people say jakdillard's stock cooked 6.1 rom has no freezes. I am testing now.

When installing your java application, The file "jeodek" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try installing or restoring the file.

dcd,

i have been dling your roms, then modifying them only a little bit, then re-compiling/building them with lattisimo's kitchen, then flashing and using them.

i was wondering...could using his kitchen to put your rom back together somehow be screwing something up in any way/causing any negative effects.

ie if i stuck your nbh into his kitchen, ran prepit.bat, ran buildos to select anything that was there, then ran buildit.bat and flashed it...would it be somehow any different? can using a different kitchen change the internal workings of a rom?

thanks a lot, and anyone else who happens to know anything about this feel free to chime in :) thx.

DCD,
I have been running this since the day that it came out. I have not seen any problems at all except one simple one. While making a call, I have to hit the end button three to four times before the call disconnects. It makes no difference if I am hitting the soft "END" key or the hard one. I installed Poorlyduck's vista dialer and the problem has went away.

Keep up the good work and I can't wait for the kitchen!

sorry if this is a pain but...what reg modifications have you made as well? i had plenty of lock-ups on this otherwise smooth rom and would love to be able to use it without them...until then i have been running no2chems vogue wm6.1 rom bulid 107 and had some but definitely fewer lock-ups.

thanks a lot.

1.)Not a one.
2.)Since the day he released it.
3.)I'll try:

Apps:
SPB Shell, diary, wallet, phone suite, and weather
MemMaid
Pocket Informant
Splash Shopper
PoorlyDuck's Vista Dialer

Reg Tweaks:
low vibration
Battery hack
power hack

Also note... I have NOTHING installed on the card. I learned my lesson with my Q. Never again. Everything is installed to memory.

I hope this helps.

hmm ok thanks i appreciate it. how much messaging/texting would you say you do? that is DEFINITELY where the majority (though not all) of my lock-ups occur. when either typing a message with the htc kb, or just trying to access a thread.

I would say about 2-5 a day. More email than anything else. Have you tried changing keyboards? I have never used the htc one. Tried different ones on for size and liked the spb full screen one the best. So far so good.

Mine freezes about 1-2 a day. Overal a very fast rom, but I hope there will be a more stable version in the future. I was looking for the most minimalistic rom available. I just need threaded sms. And HTC home plugin. The rest I don't need, no music etc. I want it nice and clean.

I think this is the closest I have gotten to my goal. Thanks Dcd!

if you want a nice clean rom, i would recommend downloading no2chems wm6.1 vogue rom build 107. its pretty clean. it does still include the cube however. it also has internet sharing and/or remote desktop (cant remember), but you can always separate the rom and delete those folders real fast.

also on ppcgeeks (and now here at xda) is dereknjenny04's latest rom. running on build 19202 (newer than this one). (jakdillard also released just the original rom tht ships on a vogue except with 6.1 build 19202 on ppcgeeks). supposedly omj's latest rom is running on build 19716...the newest ive seen for a vogue yet. those 2 roms you would have to clean out yourself but...that way they would be the latest and clean (no2chem's is sort of outdated now).

I'm quite confused. My about page says I'm running CE OS 5.2.18124 (Build 19199). I've had the same ROM installed for a few weeks. If the version numbers are going down, how do I have 19199?

OK.

The new WM6.1 builds generate the CE OS 5.2.XXXX number based on dsm file in MSXIPKernel in xip part. On my previous ROM, i probably forgot to update the dsm. So the actual files are 19199, but it doesnt report 19199.

The build numbers are not necessarily going down, it just seemed 19716 was not aligned with the final builds.

Non beta, I have seen, in order, 19181, 19188, 19199, 19202, 19209.
The ROM dates of the ROMs these were ported from seem to indicate that they are now following a logical numbering scheme. 19716, however, did not. 19209, the very latest, is also labeled AKU 1.0.2. All others in question were 1.0.0.

I noticed dereknjenny04 has a 19209 ROM posted, it is the very latest OS build I see currently available for your vogue.

Have you had any success removing the "junk" from the ROM? I am talking about touchflo and home and any other htc preloaded crap. It seems that all of the other cooks are only interested in including software that they like and nobody has cooked a truly clean ROM. Would this be possible?

At this point, I think - or am of the opinion - that DCDs base is the most stripped-down of all the WM6.1 offerings. His RUU_Signed.nbh file is ~53mb, which is 4mb smaller than no2's.

I think DCD has mentioned that he doesn't have a Touch/Vogue, which may be why he doesn't push out updates very often ... that, plus as you can see from the lack of activity in this thread, the demand for updates just doesn't appear to be there. :)

THIS is really exciting. After installing and working with it a couple of times, this is, IMHO, the most configurable kitchen for the touch/vogue.

I can get rid of TouchFlo, the cube ... I can build a rom with no dialer (not that I would want to, just an example) ... completely configurable.

Thank you, DCD!

actually, given UC autorun, i can see reason to build a rom with no dialer/camera/comm manager/etc. you can keep a clean core and you dont have to reflash if you decide to change a component.

i have a question for you.. i had the stock rom of Sprint HTC Touch and when i try to send sms in Arabic (Unicode sms) the other party receives _____ or &&&&& but if someone sends me a message i can read it fine... i flashed to Hutch's dumped rom and now i'm able to send Unicode messages without any problems... what is the reason for that? what are the files that are responsible for encoding sms?

you input would be highly appreciated..

p.s

this is also applies to the newest titan's rom as well but only on Sprint ROM not verizon's ROM..

Hmm ... I would have never thought of that; primarily because I haven't seen many dialers, and things of that core nature, being passed around or generally available as installable CABs.:(

Of course, I could always try to learn how to build CABs out of the OEM folders. :)

It looks like the version in Start -> Settings -> System -> About still reads 1.0.2 dcd.

The version in Start -> Settings -> System -> Device Information does indicate dcd 1.0.4 as ROM version

I don't know where this information is changed and, quite honestly, don't care about the cosmetic issue. I did want to mention it, though. I know what a perfectionist you tend to be, DCD.

Awseome effort. Very much appreciated.

I haven't had one single issue with this ROM and now kitchen, since I started using it over the weekend.

Oh, wow. Talk about tunnel vision on my part. As made my comparisons to other offerings, I never thought of trying that option out, as I never expected to use it.

It would be interesting to see what happened, if you select all of the same options in the kitchen, except for the cube. Just to make certain that it isn't one of the other options causing the certificate error.

I mention this, because I also received a certificate error after a flash, but when I re-created the ROM, I was not able to reproduce the error.

P.S. It's just not the same, reading your posts, without the benefit of your avatar.

Thanks for the great ROM DCD - I've tried all of them, and like yours by far the best.

I am running into a problem, however. I used the kitchen to create a ROM, however JBed Java Emulator will not launch in the ROM. The icon is there under programs, the EXE is under the Windows directory (I recopied all the files from the OEM in the kitchen to be sure, didnt work before or after). I can't figure out why it won't launch. Anyone have any idea? I would love to use Opera Mini and the Gmail Java client.

Would appreciate any help!

as long as the error message is the foremost window, pressing enter/center on the dpad will press the "ok" button for the msg and close it. the phone is not actually frozen, the touchscreen just becomes unresponsive because he has disabled touchflo and the cube. this is a known problem.

dcd is there any way that you might release a version with touchflo and the cube enabled/implemented?

or is there any way that we can enable it ourselves with a kitchen or after flashing?

In the dcd_1.0.4 Kitchen, there is a section with the heading Biotouch. There are four items in this section, which can be included/excluded based on check-box selection.

1) Biotouch config - Altell
2) Biotouch config - Sprint
3) HTC Biotouch 1.0
4) HTC TouchFlo 2.0.28554

So, I would suppose that a Sprint user would check the boxes for list items 2, 3 & 4 in order to fully enable and configure TouchFlo.

Yes, the Touch now has a radio, as opposed to the original version, which shipped without a radio. :p

If you are wondering about the work that ImCoKeMan and perhaps others are doing to attempt to port the Rev.A and GPS radio from the Titan to the Vogue, then you'll want to check their threads. AFAIK, CoKe still has a bricked Titan and Vogue for his efforts.

I didn't install the OEM cube and TouchFLO. Here are the ones that I installed and they are working great for me so far.

How is fTouchFlo working out for you? Last time I tried it out it didn't have support for all functions like native touchflo.

Yea, I hate to do that ... by all accounts, they should have to register, hit the PPCGeeks home page, etc. etc. ... direct file links are convenient, but are a leech for bandwidth. There are folks who will download things just because they can and a direct link makes it easy.

Oh well, thanks for placing this in your folder.

Best regards,

I'd like to try the Rom for Bell,
but I can't download it.

When I'm on the fileshex site, after 30 seconds and clicking to Download, I get an "internal error"...

1) download the kitchen from my link to ppcgeeks ftp.
2) extract the kitchen zip file to somewhere.
3) go inside extracted kitchen, run buildos.exe, select what components you want in your rom (including your carrier!).
4) wait for buildos to complete and say "done" at the bottom. (if you get an error, check the bottom tray of buildos and see where the error was found. most likely, there are some duplicate files. you will need to either uncheck the package that caused the problem, or delete a few of the problem files within a package.)
5) run buildnb.bat, wait, then exit out of the buildos that it brings up.
6) wait till buildnb.bat completes, then go to the ruu folder, change the pagepool to the desired figure, and flash away!:)

good luck.

fast and clean is just the way dcd cooks most of the time. that is the way most ppl like it; that way they can add what they want and only what they want - to keep it uncluttered and fast.

the radio is what connects you to your provider, "no radio" means...this rom doesnt include a radio with it; it wont flash a new radio. basically dont worry about it. the radio that you already have running (and you have one or else you wouldnt be able to do anything) will work jsut great :)

and you can just download cabs for all the stuff you want like htc home and such...or their respective oem folders and drop them into the kitchen.

good luck!

ok this is just a little strange.

would you mind telling us in chronological order what happened? im confused with when/how many times you installed c++ as well as when buildos worked for you. thanks.

yvesgazin, based on what torx said, try just running buildnb.bat first, then selecting your desired components in your rom with bulidos when buildnb.bat brings it up and tell us what happens.

i just didnt know at what point in time to do the change, before doing the buildos or after... because once you press the green go button in buildos, it'll create, then you close, and buildnb.bat takes over and continues its little process.. so i just didnt know when to do the pagepool change.

Find the RUU file, change the pagepool size and the do the download manually.

Being a flash junkie I couldn't wait till DCD added verizon to this kitchen .. so I took a shot ... unlocked the vogue with the onlocker ... took the vzw carrier stuff from the 6800 kitchen ... copied it to this kitchen ... cooked a room ... voila ... works great ... connects quickly to the internet ... phone calls are great ... works faster and more stable (so far) than the original rom .. not sure if I'll get the card data going away thing with this rom but so far ... so good ... been about 24 hours and hasn't gone away yet ... before this rom it would go away every night after the spb automatic backup at 3 am ... popping the card out and putting it back in would restore it ... but I didn't even have to do that this morning ... one important note ... the nuetools audiopara config that worked great on the titan, will cause much feed back unless it's left on the lowest settings ... I reburned a rom without that and am just using the audiopara.csv file ... all is well ;-) ...

Thanks again DCD ... I for one love your roms ...

Also thanks to ImaCoke for the great unlocker and making stock roms available ... you know ... for if we have to send it back for some reason

Please enlighten us.

Well, I can't remember every step, but here is what I did... and if you screw up your phone, don't blame me! This was all done under Windows Vista 32bit running on boot camp on a Macbook Pro...

I grabbed this dcd's vogue rom and kitchen 1.04 and unzipped it

I grabbed dcd's 3.0.4 titan kitchen

I copied "dcd_carrier_vzw" from the titan oem directory into the "OEM" directory for the vogue kitchen.

I renamed the dcd_carrier_vzw to dcd_vogue_carrier_vzw

I renamed the config.txt file in the "dcd_vogue_carrier_vzw" to something else so it wasn't seen by the script.

I then ran the BuildNB.bat in the root of "dvd_vogue_kitchen_1.0.4" and let it do its thing, and then configued what I wanted installed with the "BuildOS" util that will pop up. I picked a few things I wanted installed, and then unchecked "Sprint" Vogue Carrier, and scrolled down and selected "Verizon", and pressed the "PLAY" button at the top. It ran, and I closed it and the script will continue.

Once finished the rom flash util will come up, and just follow it along with the phone plugged in obviously, and once its all done your phone will reboot a few times and you will be running 6.1 with your customizations from dcd's kitchen!

PS.. if your stuff gets broke, don't blame me!

All I did was take the vzw carrier folder from dcd's titan kitchen and put it in the oem folder for the vogue kitchen ... figured if it didn't work ... I'd just reflash the original rom ... worked great though ... flashed a few times until I got the right combo of oems ... I also removed the non vzw carrier folders ... I know ... kind of risky but what the heck ... it worked

as for the wireless sync cab ... I used the one for the 6800 and while loading I got an error I didn't understand ... just told it cancel and after it finished it worked great ... I'm a happy clam ...

DCD:

I LOVE your ROM's man! I have made the switch from xv6800 to the xv6900 and love it,... but I really miss wm6.1. I've got my skins the way I like it (finally have enough memory to install WA3 and WAD) with the whole iPhone thing.

Any chance that you could include the Verizon carrier specifics? I'm just not bold enough to follow the instructions above.

cybrwulf: How's your Bluetooth connectivity? I had all kinds of quirks with my Mogul ROMs from DCD when I paired with Moto S9's. I often had to go back into pairing mode and restart them,... then the BT radio didn't seem to have very much distance,... I could only get about 15' away from the device. Right now my range is awesome,... can do about 25 - 30'

Thanks!

I couldn't bluetooth beyond knowing it was enabled or disable fine from the HTC software but I never got any further than that. I had issues getting the Arcsoft software to work correctly on VZW. I used a newer 4.2x build of it and I can send MMS just fine, but receiving didn't work for me even after setting it up correctly so I am back to the standard VZW load for now.
The other issue I seemed to have is the keyboard and dialer randomly popping up when clicking certain icons, even though they weren't supposed to...

I'm sure this was asked before but I can't fing it in this post.

Attached you see the selection I use to create a ROM. Nasically, it's allmost stock Alltel but with some small things left out making the phone more responsive.

The only thing that does not work is the cube's fast dial screen (the one where you can put 9 contact to dial).

None of the buttons there react to anything (finger selection, stylus selection...) but the two other cube sides (pictures, music and videos) and the one with all the program links work perfect.

Any ideas.

About what ... the kitchen works great ... and I'm on Verizon ... just use the oem folder from the titan kitchen for vzw carrier in the vogue kitchen ...

Here's some observations about the resulting rom ...

1. I've only been running it for 2 days now ... but the sd card corruption doesn't seem to be prevalent in this rom ... so far

2. I don't like the cube so I didn't install it ... no issues with errors as noted with other carriers ... I'm not sure what the vzw carrier stuff has to fix it ... or if it just hasn't showed up yet

3. The rom is fast .. and so far very stable

4. the only issue was with the xv6800 wireless sync ... did start getting errors so I did a hard reset and used the cab from a post above ... worked great and those errors went away ... my thanks to the poster

5. battery life is so so .. I ordered the seido 2000 m/hr battery ... should make it a two day per charge unit while still smaller than the titan

6. All in all ... this rom rocks ... maybe even better than the dcd titan roms ... great work dcd ... sent ya paypal ... have a brew or three on me at the next hockey game

Hey fuzzy, Do you use Bluetooth? I have used DCD ROMs on my 6800 and liked it a lot,... the only downfall was range of Bluetooth,... I can get about 10' away and then the signal becomes choppy. His latest and greatest version was much better, but still not as good as stock.

I just recently hosed my registry to the point that I was missing calls and having tons of lockups (about every hour or so),... so I was thinking I would move forward with a new ROM,... but then didn't want to be on the bleeding edge,... so I flashed back to stock from IamCokeMan's,... everything is running stable now. So I'll probably wait for a few errors to get shaken out of this ROM and have an official VZW release.

I'm using Torx iPhone skin and man it's a lot to install,... it probably takes me five or six hours to flash and get all my apps installed like I like them,... and that's loading them from a directory on my SD!!

Keep up the great work DCD!! Sorry about your computer crash,... I'll just monitor this thread and see how things progress.

Thanks! Chris

i was just referring where he went and what has been going on. mostly just in terms of how the further updating of the rom is coming along (of course) because as you stated yourself in your list there are still a few possible other things to be worked out...which there will always be in any rom/phone :)

my home computer has been down. i have fixed it and have gotten some good file hosting now, i will update soon.

i see. good to hear thanks for updating us. lots of people are wondering about the possibility of you implementing a verizon version of your roms as you have done with the other carriers in order to have one person doing it instead of 1000 and therefore saving time and making it easier...what are your thoughts about this?

thanks a lot for your work i have been running your latest rom for a while and it works great :)

So can we flash on other carriers to update the radio? then flash to a custom ROM? Has anyone been brave enough to try? I would go ahead an do it, but I just got my phone and don't know what the deal is with replacements with the 30 day period.

Don't mess with the radio ROM! You'll hear plenty about it if you monitor these boards enough. There will be a radio ROM update available - but they are carrier specific and come from the manufacturer. (Hint: Keep reading the stickies at the top of the forums - you'll understand).

Yes, several folks have been flashing their Verizon phone, but they are braver than most and have probably had some experience of living on the edge or know enough about kitchens that they could cook their own ROM. In the next several weeks, there will be a Chef (like DCD, or OMJ, or Nu2Chem) that will release a kitchen / ROM for Verizon. Until that time, it's best to sit tight.

There is already the STOCK ROM available. Whenever you would need to take your phone back into Verizon for servicing, you MUST flash back to an stock ROM. No worries there,... unless it's that your screen is cracked,... and then I guess you just "wing it",...

Hope that helps,.. :p

Thanks for all your hard work on this.

With a few tweaks I was albo to get this rom working on my xv6900, mainly because I like the threaded SMS of WM 6.1.

I am having an issue when typing a long text message I can't read anything except the line I'm typing and the suggestive text box covers up the text entry box half way.

So two questions -
Is it possible to reduce the font size of the text in the messanging window?
Anyone know how to disable the predictive text? Or better yet get it to not cover up where I'm typing?

Thanks!

thats my biggest wm6.1 annoyance. the only workaround i know of is to open and close the SIP keyboard. not sure if you guys with no hardware keyboard are seeing the same thing i see on titan though. remember i have never seen my own vogue rom in action :)

So, what are your thoughts on Roy's departure from Detroit to Colorado? When did that happen, anyway? He has since retired, right?

On topic - does or will this also include an update to CE 19209 / Build 19209 ? Based on screen shots (first post) I guess it already did, but I thought, somewhere after you posted the 1.0.4 update, that you referenced 19199 as being the version ...

Cyberwulf:
These steps worked great for me last week! First time through I got an error and said "config.txt already exists",... but I let it build anyway and flashed it,... it didn't work.

Read through your steps again and saw where I erred,... renamed the config.txt and it worked great!! It ran all weekend without any reboots!! And haven't noticed any memory leaks. This ROM is fast, and awesome.

I don't MMS - but do receive them from time to time,... (I text a lot), but did you find a fix to your MMS? If so, can you provide a link to what fixed it?

Thanks!

And, dcd, you ROCK! I suppose the you've already drank the Paypal donation I made from my Mogul Rom,... and now that I'm on another device, I'll ll need to donate again,... it's okay - just don't drink it all at one game. :D :D

the kitchen is finished, but i decided to change carrier configs to .cab files

this will allow me to publish one image for everyone. carriers can be added or modified after the fact.

I'm on Verizon. Has anyone upgraded the radio rom for the 6900 yet?

I know there have been those that have done it successfully - I've read of at least three. There are two things that keep me from doing it - First, I don't think we have a stock RADIO ROM to flash back to yet. (I know there's a stock OEM ROM - and I've used it). So, if I had to return my phone for some reason, I could not put it back to stock without the Radio ROM. Second, from what I've read it's definitely some "uncharted" territory. Meaning there are glitches and foibles like roaming, data, mms, GPS working for a day, and then not... just to name a few. Glitches and foibles don't scare me, if I have something to put it back to stock and start over,... until then, I'll wait.

yes - he has the stock ROM for the Windows OS and setup,... but that's separate and different than the radio ROM. I believe that his stock ROM would no longer work if you flashed to the new Alltel radio.

Question -- I've seen it asked, but not answered: Can we use this WM6.1 ROM with the new radio ROM? Will it work - or does it require a special Kitchen?

FuzzyWuzHe
4th May 2008, 05:22 AM
I'm pretty sure you can't go back to stock if you switch the radio (alltell) ... that requires a special rom ... either the gps test rom or one of several others out there ... this kitchen is just for the stock radio ... or the new 2.13 I think it is ... not the gps or rev a rom ... I'm on vzw ... I did a rom from this kitchen .. after that the speaker in my phone went bad ... not related to rom ... I flashed the stock vzw rom and swapped it out for a new one .. all is well again ... just don't change the radio and you can flash the pda side all you want ... ;-)

(off topic) how smart are these repair centers people are worried about? what im really wondering is what would happen if you warrantied a phone with a rom built to LOOK like your stock vzw rom...

ive heard of repair centers receiving devices with my rom installed but i dont know what happenned next.

When I was flashing all your (dcd) roms & radios
on my vzw6800 I never worried because someone
had put a vzw "return to stock" rom on the website.
When you flashed it , it put the stock rom & radio back on
in that one flash. When you booted up it said os 2.09
and radio 1.30. I never had a problem with vzw when I took
it in. That's what we need for the VZW6900.
A year ago I took my vzw 6700 in for repair and vzw told
me my warranty was void because I had Helmi's WM6 rom
on it. They said they wouldn't touch it.
All the vzw techs are not idiots, contrary to popular belief.

When I swapped my Vogue out I had the stock vzw rom on it ... in the stickies at ppcgeeks under vogue, there is an extracted rom for vzw ... when booting or using you can't tell the difference ... however ... like I stated above ... IF YOU CHANGE THE RADIO ... THEY WILL BE ABLE TO TELL ... sooooo, until vzw comes out with a radio update, stick to just the PDA side ... unless you think you won't ever need warantee work ...

If the phone ever failed so bad that I couldn't put the original rom back on it ... that would mean screen failure? ... memory failure .. ya know .. something major ... vzw probably couldn't tell anyway, but, I'd go through insurance

My local store knows I put custom roms on my phones ... as long as the stock rom is on it when I bring it in with a problem ... they're kewl ... just so they can get credit for it when they send it in ... they told me
... if I bring one in with a custom rom ... no dice ... they can't touch it ...

In a word, "Tooling."

There aren't tools to extract that ROM. If you think about it this way, M$ and hardware manufactures want developers to invent code and be innovative with software utilities to make their phones do great things. Thus there are "toolkits" and workbenches to perform modifications.

When it comes to the radio,... well they aren't so liberal,... they don't really want developers going McGiver on their radio ROM's,... and then there's that gov't agency,... FCC

If you have Cokeman's 2.31 unlocker on your phone, you should only flash 3.xx roms (NOT this one).

DCD, when you do come out with a new rom, will it be 3.xx? I've been using JD's clean roms, and I can't wait to compare yours to his cuz I think he might have surpassed your abilities in the vogue world simply because you don't actually own one.

5.2.19588 is definitely the most buggy WM build i've ever tried.
5.2.19949 is modified in the custom ROMs available, those with the sony x1 source will not respond/share with me :/

I always take my OS source from a ship/official test rom so unless I can get my hands on one I will not be porting 19949. As long as those with the build will not share with me I am SOL.

edit: some nice people shared aku 1.2.0 with me so maybe i can port it :)

Update to dcd ROM

First off, i love it. This phone is so much faster than it ever was stock.

that being said there are some weird things i noticed. First the cube doesnt work with the x-button installed. i recooked this rom, must have been 10 times trying different combiniations. nothing worked. So, i tried having the cube in there and me installed an older version of xbutton after the fact. nada.

while i like touchflo and being able to scroll with my finger, removing the cube and touchflo were the best things i ever could have done for this phone. she is so much faster without being saddled with that resource hog.

other things i have noticed... GPS works perfectly, HTC Home from n2a's site works (i live in sun valley idaho, so the htc home weather list doesnt have my city)

all in all, i love it. just the Cube doesnt work with X-button installed.

EDIT: and i remembered that when i left out xbutton and and got the cube to run correctly, the side that has the contacts on it that you can tap to call? doesnt work. what i mean is, when i tap a space to add a person, it doesnt do anything. nor do the shortcut buttons at the bottom that bring up the dialer and the contact list.

I ran the exe and that worked. Pretty slim ROM, though.

Very snappy!

my new vogue stuff is up here (http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd1182/vogue/3.0.2/) if anyone wants to try it out. i'll finalize some little stuff and start a thread after its tested a little more.

my wifes vogue is still running the original rom straight from sprint...

with your 3.0.2 kitchen, what radio is required for this? and by any chance do u know what the latest best radio is and where i can download it from?

Anybody have any real comments to say about DCD's 3xx rom? I know its great, as its a DCD product, but is it just stripped of sprint crap, optimized as usual, or what?

i'll post some real comments... again...

i have been using this rom for a little while now and i love it. it comes with all the HTC stuff you will need to make it like a stock 6.1 ROM, but me personally i dont like the cube. i left that out and man o man, this phone is quick. great memory usage, fast and trouble free. there havent been any problems yet that made me want to reflash to something else.

excellent work dcd.

i havent posted required carrier .cab files yet since this is a test release. i will post them soon. in the meantime, you can use my titan carrier cabs. they will setup your data connection.

Do you have a feel for the released sprint update (that you put up on rapidshare) and whether or not anything from it will find its way into the 3.0.x vogue kitchen?

Best regards,

i am going to update this with the 3.03 drivers and a new WM build.
as always, i can only see my ROM run on titan, so I have to work a couple bugs out on that device first.

sorry I had not responded to your PMs, I have been busy.

Alrightey; good to know!

It is interesting that the 3.04 build/drivers was released for Altell some time ago and now Sprint comes out with 3.03 and it seems that this is more current, proving that lower revision != older ...

sorry I had not responded to your PMs, I have been busy.

Ah, don't give it another thought ... as long as you saw the note regarding Bluetooth and have the information, that is all that matters!

I've seen the same thing on the titan. I think 3.04 is actually more current. To be honest, I forgot it existed, I'll need to compare. I was thinking of the 3.02 leak.

Well, you stumbled upon an incompatibility. I think you did your port right, it was just a package that doesnt work for us. I used older (working) packages in my titan release per your solution. Thanks.

Well, you stumbled upon an incompatibility.

What an alltogether appropriate way to reference the find and I really mean that.

So often, when I happen to find things, I am the first one to reply with:

Even a blind squirrel will occasionally stumble on an acorn.

:D :D :D

... because in all honesty, I have no idea what I am doing; it is all trial-and-error ...

Two, or are there three major development efforts going on. I am REALLY looking forward to seeing 3.2.0 for the Vogue!!!

Can anyone tell me if the official sprint rom posted by DCD today will work on the Verizon XV6900 without having to call Verizon for an A key? I'm assuming it will as long as I do not let customizations run.

Edit: Received answer, yes

I am having issues with sending and receiving mms. i have simply used dcd's kitchen and attempted the default mms add-in with no luck. then i installed arcsoft 5.0.31.7 which then converted messaging to sms/mms. still no luck. i have defined my network for #777 and mynum@vzw3g.com pw: vzw. i am able to access the web, too. what am i missing or what could be the issue?

Has any one gotten the Touch Flo to work on this ROM?
I add it in the Kitchen, but it just chokes when I try to run it.

Is there just a cab to install TouchFlow after the ROM is installed?

Thanks
