Desperated!!! Cooking Spanish WM6.1 ROM - Please Help!

Hi, i´m very disapointed at this moment because can get a working ROM translation of WM6.1 build 19199.

To begín step by step the first thing i want is change folders names like Startup o Program files. I made changes in initFlashFiles.dat, and default.hv. but the ROM don´t boot. WHY????

What are the files i need to edit just to change folders names?.

PD: I already checked initflashfiles.dat is unicode file and remove the first two bytes, that´s not the problem.

Please HELP ME!!! i don´t know if there´s something i miss to do.
I´m very interested for doing this ROM because there isn´t any WM6.1 Spanish ROM for trinity.

Don´t want anyone´s make an spanish ROM, just want to learn how to do it, but i must be missing something, it couldn´t be so dificult... but i can´t realise where is the mistake....

why you work on .hv files when you have the bepe's kitchen and all rgus you want, only have to compare the rgu from 6.1 with an original corresponding spanish wm 6.0 rgu.....
for muis, you have to translate into sys folder:
base_lang muis, browsing muis and all muis into ***_lang___ folders into sys
to do it, try with restorator 2007 (shareware)
in menus, dialogs and strings, compare them step by step with original spanish mui, with the wm 6.1 WWE, and overwrite the originals with the wwe, you now have double menus id into one, if there are corresponding in spanish and english, check if there are same voices inside, and delete the wwe, if not (if there is only the wwe) you have to translate it, in some hours of work, and if partecipate more than only a person, you can have all muis, all rgu and iniflashfiles.dat translated in spanish...
also for initflashfiles.dat and oemapps you can check them with original spanish 6.0....
I translated into italian, so you can tranlsate into spanish, or german or in every language you want.

Ok. I axl have the same problem. I can make roms with old kitchen but I am unable to make then with bepe's & ervius. I don't know where I miss something but resulting roms don't boot.

We can try to put in common our researches, so if we are stopped at diferent points we can finish it up.

- I am using as a base rom FAMAN's 4.00 (for me the best spanish rom). I extract XIP from this rom.
- Then I take master bepe's WM6.1. I process it with buildos+package_tools-2.7.exe.
- Edit initflash.dat and check .hv's
- Build with buildos...

Rom doesn't boot at all. :mad:

I found a solution, and get a working ROM... :)

Is not the kitchen i use all of then, I think is the shellres.dll.xxxx.mui, i have modified it with restorator, i added the missing resources in my spanish mui, from the original working one. After this i delete the shellres.dll.xxxx.mui folder, and place the mui into the dump folder.

After this and after translate the registry and initflashfiles.dat into my language, and change all muis to my country code, the ROM finally boot.

Thanks Ervius and everybody for helping me so much... i have learn so much from all cookers in this forum.

Soon we will release WM6.0 and WM6.1 Spanish ROMS, stay tuned WM6.0 versión is close to finish.

In a few days, i will publish a beta ROM based in ausdim WM6.1 light ROM, if everything goes fine, it will be before Sunday.

Maibe my partner and collaborator Nikitto, will realease a WM6.0 ROM in a couple of days, this ROM is going to be published here too...

1- MMS doesn´t appear in messaging, and Send MMS command in contacts options doesn´t work. What are the files related with this?, any mui?. I haven´t touch anything in registry but changed xxx_409 files to xxx_C0A to get files working with my language code.

2- Network Wizard or any cab for setting operator internet settings (GPRS Settings and WAP Settings) doesn´t work, it raise me a "database Error". What are the files related with this?, any mui?.

I know all these errors are caused by me in the process of translation, so in WWE original version these things works. Please Help me to find where is the mistake.

If i fix this two errors, i will be able to release a beta versión of my spanish WM6.1 ROM.

There are not packages, these features are included into the base ROM i`m triying to translate, i can´t separate into packages.

I´m working directy on the dump directory of the ROM, it must be some file i replace with translated one, or any reference in registry.

1.- What mui have i check?, i think there isn´t any reference to language strings inside muis.

2.- The problem is not only with network wizard, i have the same problem installing .cab for operator settings.

The Key for making a bootable WM6.1 is to ckeck ShellRes.dll.xxxx.mui, my spanish mui doesn´t have some resources that must be important to System boot. Open the original ShellRes.dll.xxxx.mui, and copy paste the missing resources into your translated mui. That´s must work.

I know they can be packageable, i tried the package network config from your italian kitchen, but get the same error, is not an error related to app, it must be something from the system, any .mui or something similar

i´m very lost with MMS problem, don´t know what could be the problem, i revised Registry and compare it with the rgu inside the package in your kitchen... don´t found anything i have to touch... so i think the problem could be any mui or something similar....
