Connect device to PC. Use Active Sync to move the (unopened/unextracted) CAB file to your device (storage card or if not main memory).

Then on the device use file explorer to find the CAB and tap on it to install it. Choose install to main memory for this CAB.

AND follow above posters advice to ensure the plugin is set to show on the Today Screen.

HHC can do it for you under one of its tabs
or
Go to the weather tab on HTC Home, tap on your city name and change it from the Menu option corrosponding to the right soft key.

Play around with it first and see if you can figure things out.

I downloaded the home plug and schen's cab, but the today screen only appears as the HTC home plug should appear. I tried reinstalling the cab file, but nothing changed. I can't find it under settings.

I can not for the life of me get my stylus to work on my tilt. this is my first touch device but im sure its not hard. i can tap the screen and im fine but when i go to use the stylus it wont respond. could i have disabled something by accident?

Have a screen protector??? May need to adjust the sensitivity. Don't have the exact key, but I know it's in several posts. try filtering your search with the term pressure threshold.

Tilt w/Duttys latest.
I was reading email, when suddenly the touch screen stopped working. I could use the DPad, but no response to touch. Opened and closed the keyboard, still no response. Soft booted and it went back to normal.

I have had it happen 2 or 3 times on my tilt with dutty previous release. Rebooted and it went back to normal.

The problem is usually related to FTouchFlo, a simple soft reset cures the issue. If you don't have FTouchFlo installed, I'm not sure what could be causing it :(

I did everything in it, but sometimes my screen stops and freezes for a few seconds. Sometimes it gets so bad that it freezes like every 20 or 30 seconds when I am typing something using the stylus. I don't think I have touchflow because I never installed it. I just have the stock HTC rom.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Opera Beta 9.405, Still have internet explorer as default browser for playing videos through media players I have installed.

I wish skyfire would stop being a bitch and make the beta public release. As much as I like Opera mini and its speed, it just sucks at many other things. But, the fact that it presents heavy graphic (the picture kind of graphic) pages so fast is worth the trade off.

if you are trying to use pkcet I.E.....its not gonna happen.....use opera instead. Pocket IE does not handle downloading of zip files well

edit...the file is 17mb.....I hope you are not trying to use pocket IE.....or opera..better to dnld to your pc 1st

Woops, forgot to add my comment. HTC Home is the way I go. I like the fact that its on the today screen. spb didn't seem to integrate well with today, so i left it alone. I want the Spb screen to replace the today screen...and it doens't do that...if I want some app opening up or some menu popping up then there are a bunch of free things that can do that, why pay money for it?

I definitely like the SPB software ver 2 better. It really offers so much more than the other can (or is designed to do), not to mention the weather plugin is much more customizable with smaller cities (like where I live) without having to tweak anything. I love the favorites dialer on the Mobile Shell app.
Lastly I like the separate screen on the Mobile Shell app, i.e., the Now Screen. It kinda adds to things to have the separate screen

I use both too, but don't display spb on the home screen, just htc home. The gesture provides all I need - start with your finger on the start menu and drag to the middle of the screen.

I have used both and have to agree with everyone here. I used htc home screen and hated that it always took up my today screen. I wanted something that was functional but that I could still see my picture/screen saver and not have all this clutter on my today screen. Now I have it perfect the way I want it. My music player and the 5 people I call most on the today screen ( and I think you can add up to 3 rows of 5 people on the today screen) for great convenience and can enter the SPB menu when I need it. Hands down love the SPB mobile shell version 2.0 and couldn't be happier!!!!!! Worth the money :)

Spb for me..... :)

Pros: I like it and so far it likes me! Waiting to see what it will do on the Tilt....
Cons: I've grown tired of HTC Home! A lot of the Hermes ROMs had HTC Home cooked in till the light versions gave you more options...

For me at least, with the combo of Spb MS2.0, PocketPlus, Phone Suite, Spb Time, Spb Weather, And Spb Diary. I can customize the living S*#t out of my Today screen.

With HTC Home you can change Icons, some fonts and colors, remove some tabs but you're still left with the basic outline of Home. After a while of tinkering with that combo, I grew tired of it and went back to my Spb riddled ppc.

Please remember, this is just my preference.

I use SPB mobile shell, SPB pocket plus and SPB time. Together they are muuuuch better than HTC home. So customizable, and I love the interface of SPB mobile shell. I won't ever go back to HTC home.

Its OZ messenger. The one that comes in the at&t rom. Log on to the computer and it should go away. If not it will keep going on and on and on. It wont stop ;).

I haven't noticed any worse battery drain than normal.

What I have noticed though, is trying to get HTC Home (the one I installed from a .cab file) off of my tilt looks like it's gonna need a hard reset to do. Sigh...

I think there is a bug with spb shell, when you lock your device, the keypad icon (bottom of the screen) is still visible and can be pressed.
I am using it with spb traveler, spb phone suite and spb pocket plus.

appart from this, it's a very goog program.

Did you look in task manager only to running applications or also to running processes?

It can also be caused by PTT. If someone tries to PTT you when it's disabled you get tha as well.

it was working before i installed kaiser tweaks. when i hit the internet button i get the home page, but if i put in any web page, say yahoo.com for example, it says the current connection cannot be used for your request. please end the current connection and try again. i did remove att bloatware and install the htc home plugin, but again it was working even still untill i put teh tweaks on. any advice?

Yep I noticed severe battery drain as well. Almost drains twice as fast. I think that SPB should be made aware of this. If someone has time to run SPB Benchmark or BattBench .Net battery tests. once without Mobile Shell installed then once after it is installed you will see the difference. I am currently doing battery testing in a separate thread. Mobile Shell is an amazing piece of software but its a battery hog, just like Wisbar Advance, and Wisbar Desktop or alot more people would be using the Iphone/Kaiser interface. I switched from HTC Home to Iphone using Wisbar, to Mobile Shell and the only one with good battery performance is HTC Home. I think that today plugins also cause serious drain too and most users with Mobile Shell or PocketPlus will have multiple tabs with multiple today plugins embedded in each tab. This makes matters even worse. I have come to the conclusion that every user must find their own balance of interface options and battery life to get what they want out of their device.

Backlight set to 40% (4th notch).
Turn off screen after 30 seconds, turn off device after 1 min.
No programs running in background except for Spb Mobile Shell.
I am also keeping it in the Spb Menu, because I find it kind of silly to use the stock home screen with this app installed.

Today, my phone came off charge at 6:30am with 100% battery. It is now 11:57am, and in that time frame I have checked for email as stated above, had about 10-15 total minutes of phone calls, sent 1 text message, received 2 text messages, I ran MemMaid once, and I have had one reminder go off. Other than spending about 5 minutes using the device to set up my favorite programs list in SpbMS, and what is listed above, the phone has been in sleep mode. Anyway, the point is, my battery is currently at 83%.

Almost 20% battery loss for doing the things I have listed above is definitely on the excessive side. I absolutely love this program because it is finger friendly, it looks nice, and it is fairly intuitve, but I think it's getting uninstalled today for the fact that I can't have my battery draining that fast. As a matter of fact, my first call was received around 9am, and the phone had not even come out of sleep mode before that, yet after taking that 1 minute long phone call, my battery was already at 94%...

I definitely think I am going to write an email to Spb about this...

I always prefer SPB Mobile Shell...

It does much more and with very cool transitions and effects.

And even though it seems more robust, it performs much more quickly and smooth.

HTC Home does not really offer much at all.

I always deactivate that plugin.

I'm trying to get teh HTC Action screen but cant get it to work. Here is what i am doing:

i extract teh setup. i go to file explorer on my phone and click the program. nothing happens. there is no htc action "button" under my settings and then "buttons".

Are you sure it's a zip and not a cab? The icons in windows look the same sometimes

first off, we need to know what kind of zip file you got. You might have got an OEM package which is meant for cooking and not for the basic install. You should grab a cab file and do the install that way. If there is no shortcut and its in your programs. If you get to the point where you have action screen in your programs, but no shortcut, then you need to create your shortcut. You can use Schap's Advanced Configuration tool to do this. Search for it. Or there are some registry keys you can manually change to do what you want. Search 112 left softkey 113 right softkey and you'll get your answers.

Only thing I can think of is that maybe while in KT, you set all of the PIE options to use the card (cache, temp files, etc). PIE does not like this much on the Kaiser. I had the same issues, at first thinking it was network/connection related. Remembering that I changed the PIE settings in KT, I switched them back, and all was back to normal. I've seen on the forums here that others have had the same PIE->SD issues.

edit: just noticed that you don't have a card yet, so nevermind.

I love it. Very fast and extremely customizable. Saves installing a cube. There are some other threads on this board showing you how to do various things with it including an Iphone theme.
I still have Mobile Suite installed just for the Now screen but have the Today plugin switched off.

Having the same problem... Did a hard reset and was back to normal. Everything was fine again until I took out my sim card and used it in another phone. Put it back into the tilt and same problem. I'm not sure where you guys are seeing the option in PIE to have it use the ASD card. I have looked up and down thru theses options and have NOT found them. Am I missing something?

EDIT: When I go on WIFI PIE works fine. Its only when I'm on EDGE/3G. Something must have happened in the VPN settings cause I can access data with some application but not others... PIE does not work but weatherpanel is still updating. MMS is now not working either. I wish I know what was causing this!

EDIT#2: Found fix for PIE - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338532&highlight=tilt+tools But still MMS is not downloading PIC.... I'm sure its the proxy. Don't know why the tilt has theses hidden proy's that mess things up like this!

Warning to Kaiser / TILT users. This software has a bug that can at times freeze the phone. I have tested it for a few days now. I have installed the application on two of my Kaisers and had the same problems. :mad:
