Hi all, I've created HTC Polaris CustomRUU patched to perform a 'task 32' instead of a 'task 28' after flashing an .nbh, so it will not format your device if you just flash a radio or a splash screen.
How to: Drop the .nbh file of your choice in the same folder as CustomRUU and start flashing.
Have fun.

udk,
As a simple user of what's available, I already flashed both my radio and splash screen and I never had my Polaris formatted. So why is exactly your Custom_RUU made for?
Thanks.

Try to flash radio or splash with the default HTC RUU, your Polaris will be formatted.

BTW: sorry for maybe stupid Q., but isnt it possible to somehow "crack" RUU to be w/o stupid Q like "Please connect to USB......." and similar - to have it "flash-on-run" when one is trying to build ROM its quite annoying and instead of have a fag i need to sit in front of pc.....

I read with excitement your custom RUU. After buying the Polaris for the last 2months the temptation to flash to wm6.1 is immense however I hate to reinstall about 100 programs and reprogram my email settings, etc, etc which is very time consuming. This single factor of redoing which will take a lot of time deter me from flashing to wm6.1 5.2.19199 rom .It is further mentioned here that there is no reformatting with this method. I am therefore now very curious.(I dislike to reinstall the programs, settings, etc all over again after each and every upgrade of rom under the previous system)
I have a question ie:
After hard SPL and therafter dropping the new rom .nbh into this customise RUU and flashing it would it mean that there is no hard reset and the Polaris is ready to function with all the programs and setting previously done under the OLD ROM save and except that it is now running /operating under ther new ROM.
If the answer is YES I shall be flashing to the newer rom to benefit from its faster and better functionality and it will save a lot of time to reinstall programs, etc
Thanks and eagerly awaiting the answer from the masters.
BTW my current rom is 1.26.457.1 radio is 1.58.21.23 protocol version is 25.65.30.04H( I understand there is later radio version and will the same situation happens when I flash to the newer radio versions?)

This may sounds stupid as it is clearly stated that this CUSTOM RUU FOR POLARIS but just wondering as the "ONLY" is missing from the title whether this CustomRUU can be used for others eg.kaiser and other htc ppc?
In the event it is not Would the author able to do likewise one for Kaiser, etc

Dear UDK/Batista,
Can u please tell me that after your flashing
No reformating = No Loss of Data = No need to reinstall the programs that you nstalled under the previous rom( ie only the rom is changed but the rest of data, previously installed programs, settings, etc still remain intact) is this correct?

Thanks UDK for the clarification.
So you are saying is that whenever we flash a new rom(rom file.nbh) even using your customRUU the device will hard reset thereby losing all its data.
At the same time if it is flash for radio(radio file.nbh) or splash screen ONLY using your customRUU the device will not hard reset. Am I correct UDK

Well, I now tried Hard-SPL'ing with CustomRUU, and got 2 times ERROR 262: progress bar didn't move by 1%, stayed at 0% for 5min, then error 262 showed up
followed this one step by step: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=370434
only with CustomRUU instead RomUpdateUtility
EDIT: If I would try original RUU, what is going to be formatted? I don't want to flash a new ROM so far, just wanted to update RadioROM
EDIT2: Tried original RUU, now error 260 is showing up, the display of the device not even getting to the process bar, after 2min still in four-colored screen, then error message on PC...
what the hell goes up there?
I was monitoring with both exes as well, that ActiveSync is shutting down as soon as the device goes to bootloader, is that normal?

Maybe udK could modify the code of the Custom_RUU and release a 1.3 version
which wouldn't be detected as trojan or virus to stop those rumours once and for all  ATM ROM threads are full of virus warnings and those who decline,
that it is a virus and so on. This is really annoying :(

For those whose CustomRUU.exe keeps getting deleted by your AntiVirus, here is my feeble attempt to have a CustomRUU autoextracting to run ruu_signed.nbh file.
How to use
Unzip "my homemade WinRar Self extracting" CustomRUUNew.exe into the same folder where your CustomRUU.exe was.
double click the exe and enjoy.

I added the Request to the user to ask for elevate rights for Vista & Windows 7 beta (test not done, anyone ?)
Tested Vista SP1 not extracting to current folder need to check again :-(
XP SP3 working.
If you rerun it will ask to overwrite files.
Let me know if it helps you.
