So I dropped my dash and it landed perfectly on the power button. I wasn't even that far, I was sitting down and it slid out of my lap as I was sitting down on a small chair.. maybe 2ft drop at most. Well it pushed the power button too far in and it fucked up something to where I cannot use that button. I have, however, stuck a paperclip in the right position or the right "button" on the phone's motherboard/chip and it has turned off/on.. but that's a gamble (I don't know how I hit the right spot, but I've done it twice).
Is there any way I can fix this? I know the warranty will not cover it.. so I'm thinking about opening up the phone myself, but I don't know what I would do from there.
Also, if I wanted to flash the new 6.1 ROM, does it require use of this button? I've been too afraid to attempt this new ROM as I don't want to get stuck in a situation where I can't turn my phone off.
*Currently I'm using a program on my phone to perform a "soft reset" when I need to restart my phone.
Thanks for any help!
EDIT:
Here's a visual aid; the button I'm referring to --
