I really want to update to WM6.1 with one of these great roms. Here's my issue. I don't care about the MyFaves crap on the homescreen or even having the program on my phone. If I switch to one of these roms will it effect how MyFaves works? I don't plan on changing my faves and even so I could just do it online via MyTmobile. I just want to make sure that if I do use one of these roms I can still call these people with no charge. I'm not sure if It's on Tmobile's end or on my end. Thanks. :3

Now I am not with T-Mobile myself, but I beleive that its on T-Mobiles end...I dont think that your phone has anything to do with it, other than providing an easy way to tell whos on your MyFavs list, instead of having to remember them.

correct, the My Faves does not need to be on the phone itself. I have the same plan and set it up online.

I've updated my ROM to the latest HTC ROM offered on this site and have not had any issues. My Faves, as you know, will not be on the phone itself, but can be changed from the MyT-Mobile website. The My Faves program on your phone only lets T-Mobile know which 5 numbers you've chosen and if and when you have changed them.
The biggest loss in getting rid of MyFaves from your phone is the convenience of changing them on the fly. Without it, you must have a computer available. Not really a big issue for me, but it may be for others.

Great! Here's another question for ya. I have been using the T-Zones Proxy to get free EDGE/GPRS. Will a new ROM make this unusable since T-Zones will no longer be on my phone? Sorry If I seem like a noob lol. I got my phone in September of last year and the most I've done is proxy it and mod the JOGGR.

Are you referring to free internet due to a glitch by T-Mobile or are you referring to the $5.99 T-Mobile hotspot plan hack/work-around? The first method is a glitch on T-Mobile's part and will most likely be corrected anyway. I've read that you will lose the Hotspot capability which may screw you if you get internet via the hack/work-around.
I know this doesn't really help, but I'm one of those suckers that pays for the internet so I can't answer your question. You may also want to check out howardforums.com or just use google to help you find an answer to your question. Sorry I couldn't do more to help.

I updated my wife's phone to Windows Mobile 6.1 yesterday, the default by HTC, not the T-mobile ROM. Everything went smoothly and is running nicely. But the only problem I seem to have is having the Myfaves Run on it. It is installed but will not show up on the Programs nor the Home screen. I really dont need it to show up on the home screen, so long as it appears on the Programs in the stat menu so she can manage her faves. I called t-mobile and they had it reset, but what I want is to make it show up. They said to call their tech, and I honestly dont want to answer questions as to where I got the ROM.
Please I know the last reply on the thread dates a while back, so please any help would be highly appreciated, and this is my first post too. :)

How do I edit it on rickys rom. I have no idea how to use that commander thing and want to put my friends on the sliding panel for my faves which is on my rom I'm using.
There is no reason to run my faves on this rom. The my faves is a software program with a pretty dialer that takes up a lot of space in resident memory. That is what people here are downloading. The cab from t mobile that enables the myfaves app on your phone. Just use the t mobile website to manage your my faves and setup Ricky's Rom to dial those people that you have selected. You can find the directions in rickys thread at the bottom after the latest version of his rom. You know it says how to setup My faves. Disclaimer: Remember that Ricky's my faves application is not t mobiles. You can setup the people in the app and even change the picture. But if you want to put that person in you Fave 5 you will need to do it on the T Mobile website. If you still want to use the .cab file you will have to run the my faves application every time you would like to use it. Otherwise Ricky's instructions are very straightforward use the total commander to browse to the files that he tells you. If you cannot follow these instructions I hesitate to tell you to go any further. If you do you could damage your phones registry and have to hard reset. This website is for people who have a decent understanding of what is going on with their phone and these hacks and cooked ROMS are not to be taken lightly.
That being said I have never seen the 620 not be able to be fixed no matter what has been done to it. A hard reset usually always restores your original flashed ROM.
This part is for if you flashed your phone
============================================
1)Download Total Commander form here http://ghisler.fileburst.com/cebeta3/index.html

i have Ricky's v23, and i can't seem to edit the "My Faves" info. i use the "Change My5 Contacts", select "Edit", and try to change the name/phone number but nothing seems to happen. i don't have the T-Mobile 5 favorites, but i'm sure that doesn't really have anything to do with it. the "My Faves" info is just a placeholder for contact info, right? thanks.

It might have something to do with it. I know on the T-Mobile WM6.0 ROM, if you didn't have MyFaves activated you couldn't gain access to the application (even though the app was embedded in the phone).

Having fave 5 has NOTHING to do with this APPLICATION showing up on your slide.
You might have to go into the XML file and add it to the "order" part of it on the bottom part.
You do realize that on Rickys FIRST page....you can DOWNLOAD the instructions on how to get it work.

Oh okay. I know that I couldn't (before my xda-developer days) get the application to show up, seeing as how I didn't have MyFaves activated. I asked the T-Mobile customer care reps about it and they told me that without the service, I won't have access to the app. Of course...that's what they'd LIKE you to think.

Does anyone know how to get Myfav5 to properly register with Tmobile ?
I have a Myfaves plan and I know that the slider Myfav is just for looks. I want to be able to use the unlimited minutes feature of my plan. If I understand it correct, even if I have the 5 numbers registered correctly with Tmobile from the website, I still need a phone that reports outbound call to Tmobile as Myfav. The customer service agent informed me that I must use a phone that supports the myFav feature.
Is there anyway to get WM6.1 to support the REAL Myfav5?

The Tmobile lied to you... as usual they re clueless brain dead phone monkeys. As long as you have the proper 5 contacts setup on your account. it doesnt matter what you use to call those people. Tmobile keeps track of your calls and processes the billing, not your phone.

3. Install CAB file
4. Open the CHome Config utility
5. Open the CMyFaves item

7. Select page 6
8. Change the Page Title Line to "My Faves"
9. Change the Text 1 line to "T-Mobile My Faves"
10. Change the action URL to \widows\My5app.exe
11. Disable the page counter
12. Press the "Done" button to save.
13. Exit Chome config app
14. Return to home screen
Now, go to your home screen and cycle through to the My Faves listing.
When you get there, you'll see that its very similar to one of the options on the WM 6.0 with the Dash. Use the center button to open and VIOLA! the My5 app on Win 6.1 Go in to the my5 settings and refresh those faves!
---I'm sure there may be an easier way, but I'm just the average Joe when it comes to modifying cell phones. However, this works. While it may not be needed and sure it may just eat up resident memory, but whatever... Some of us have wives that would be lost with out this "pretty dialer" . lol

i have the Myfaves__dD.cab installed on my t-mobile dash. i have the kavana 6.1 final rom running with the NRG color iconbar. I had somewhat success with myfaves, i installed the .cab and went to the newly created myfaves standard icon in my start menu, where i 'refreshed' my contacts and about a half hour later, that nortorious text message t-mobile sends you "your contacts have now been refreshed" finally came. all of my contact names and numbers were automatically restored and everything. i just set new icons and i was done. HOWEVER, as we all now the myfaves will not go on the home screen with the new flashy scrolling 'panels'. i can live with that. my priority right now if anyone can help: when i call someone that is in myfaves the icon to the right of the screen where they're preset picture should be displayed is showing a black square with electronic looking lines buzzing inside the square like a picture is trying to show through the image_bg.png or the cprogback_land.png. also the tiny 'myfaves icon' to the left of the contact's name is actually showing through, i can see it, but also those electronic looking lines are going across the aprox. 15x15 pixel icon. VERY ANNOYING! help please!

To help u with my favs appearing on ur home screen:
>Find ur way back to CHomeConfig>CMyFavs:
Make sure that Visible icons on pages #1-5 are unchecked.
>Go to page #6:
Make sure that Visible icon is checked.
Make sure that Disable page counter is checked
(once u do this it will auto check for all pages so dont panic cuz it's suppose to do that).
>Now the following should read as follows:
Page Title: My Faves
Text 1:T-Mobile My Faves
Action URL: \Windows\My5App.exe
Softkey: Settings
Softkey URL:\Windows\My5App.exe
>click "Done" to save
>Menu> Exit>Refresh My Favs>Reboot and SHAZAAAM!!! :D;)
I have no clue/fix for the fuzzy icons though during/dialing/receiving a my fav contact ;{ If anyone figure out a solution, then pls give us a kick start....

check the bottom of #51 for my baby steps. also i have changed homescreens to windows default and still no myfaves to be seen. occasionally, when i'm doing other things and i flip-flop homescreens to "refresh" my 'panels' homescreen it will give me the white screen and say "my faves display turned off"???but i never have once seen myfaves on any homescreen since wm6.1 upgrade...
what is the correct process for chome configurator allow me to "customize" the cmyfaves? thanks for the help.
if anyone could please upload the original \windows\image_bg.png and the cprogback_land.png files from the t-mobile dash windows mobile 6.0 rom

Does the MyFaves work on a non TMo phone? I have a Q9m from Verizon that I just upgraded to 6.1 and a MyFaves might be fun to have.

MyFave should work on any smartphone, with WM installed. MyFave is a PROGRAM, not the actual T-Mobile My Fav 5 service.

Go over to http://forum.dashsmartzone.com and do a search, their is a thread by Wizzstar on the complete step by step My5Faves setup for what you are trying to do. I had it on one of my Dashes before, it indeed does work like a charm......!
THAT WEBSITE DOESNT WORK.

**NOTE** This was done on the RickWyatt 6.1 ROM -- Which comes with a Fav5 mock dialer...
1. Download the files from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?mdzlvndicwj
2. Place the CAB file on your phone
3. Install CAB file
4. Open the CHome Config utility
5. Open the CMyFaves item
6. Uncheck the "Visible" check box for pages 1-5
Some of us have wives that would be lost with out this "pretty dialer" . lol
*EDIT* I also found for some of it to work properly, the My5Service.exe file/service needs to be run/started. You can edit the 2nd soft key for your MyFaves page in the CHome config utility to launch the My5Service.exe file. not as good as starting it automatically... but ya know easy fix.
i have started installing the cab file, when it reaches three qaurter it tells me installation was unsucessful. the program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions....please how do i fix this issue
