View Full Version : Full Postcode in TomTomNav 6 on Himalaya ?

Hello,

This has got me pulling my hair out of my already balding head !.

I have TomTom Nav 6 on an old Pocket PC (HP 2210), and the full 7-digit postcode search works perfectly on it.

I loaded the very same software onto my Himalaya and i cannot for the life of me get the full 7-digit postcode search !. It defaults to 3/4 figure postcode (e.g. DH8).

I have searched through various forums and have even installed a fullpostcode.cab (for the UK) file and it still doesn't work !!.

I also put an empty "Tomtom" folder in the navigator folder (as suggested on various forums), this again didn't work !

I know if i install TomTom Nav 6 on the Himalaya's main memory then this would probably solve the problem, but i cannot as i don't have enough room on the Himalaya (i have tried deleting other progs, but it doesn't free up enough space !). I threrfore have to install it on the 1GB SD card (but this is EXACTLY the same setup as on my HP Ipaq 2210, and it works great on there !!!)

The 7-digit postcode feature DID work for a while a few nights back, but then stopped working the day after! (so i know it IS possible for it to work properly on there!).

Can anyone please suggest what i could do because the 7-digit postcode lookup feature is much more useful since i prefer searching using the full postcode facility.

Best Regards,
Andrew

what version of tomtom 6 is it, you are running. Have you tried the latest version http://rapidshare.com/files/91182629/ttn_6_032_8351.cab

try that and see if it fixes your problem

Cheers for the quick reply, it's version 6.000. Thing is i have the very same version of Tomtom on my Ipaq2210, installed on a SD card etc, and it works perfectly on there, so cannot figure out why it's not working on the Himalaya. Also the fact that the full postcode search worked fine the other night, then just stopped working makes me wonder !

Andrew

do you have the zip folder on the card the postcode data is in that folder ?

yeah, the zip is in the SD folder where all the other files are, as is the "Tomtom" empty folder (which was suggested by some people). The same structure as what's on the Ipaq2210 (whick works fine !!)

Hello, the version you uploaded won't work for me. It produces the error "Unable to start, an exception occurred: memory Access Violation" after running it upon installation !

well i would assume that ,that is the problem, memory restrictions, as you dont have enough ram available and that is why it is only allowing you 5 postcodes instead of 7. As i have said i have it working fine on an xda 2. Using that cab i posted

i can remember people having this postcode file on their SD card and working fine tho !, just don't know why it doesn't work with mine, or why it worked one night on it then from then on it hasn't !!

Cheers,
Andy

Don't know if you have sorted this out but - The zip file normaly has to be placed in the same folder as the program file, but it will work if it is left on the SD card with a shortcut back to the program folder. This gives you a bit more room in the PDA memory.

For Clarity on this one...

I had exactly same problem on Kaiser, postcode and voices worked one minute, then not the next.

To get it working I moved the voices folder to the PDA itself (Navigator Folder) not a size issue for me as i only moved 'Jane' data05.vif and chk

I then deleted the configuration file (collected.ini) in the voices folder, this means you then have to reselect voice in preferences.

Also moved the 'zip' folder to Navigator folder on the Kaiser.

All ok now.. HTH
