I have made a new thread as it is very confusing what the best protector for the orbit 2 is as it has the 2nd camera and the speaker is in a different position.

I’m desperate as my original protector fell off :-( going to take my old Orbit 1 out now until I get a new protector.

Any good recommendations?

@Ziggyred - Apols dude, but I'm a little cynical about screen protectors which do not show picutres of the actual device I'm interested in.

I ordered the Brando one for the Orbit II, but to my disspointment, despite it being plugged on Brando.hk's website as being Orbit2 compatible, the top of it is not such a great fit. It looks like it's designed specfically for the Cruise, but not the Orbit II.

Can anyone here categorically state (and show!) protectors specifically designed for the Orbit II ?

I have been looking on other forums and there doesn't seem to be any which are a good fit for the orbit 2

I bought this one for my Orbit 2:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EXiM-SPUC-Screen-Protector-O2-Xda-Orbit-2_W0QQitemZ310031483613QQihZ021QQcategoryZ56167QQr dZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p1638.m 122

Is a perfect fit although was annoyed that I dropped the protector and it got dust on it before I applied it.

Washed it and it is batter.

It fits perfectly, has a cut out for the speaker and the camera.

@KennyDies - How many are in a pack ?
And does it have a high tack adhesion ? I wouldn't want it leaving any residue....

Thanks

Reading through the Ebay link to Exim screen protectors, it appears that it doesn't use any sticky backed adhesion.

Only one is supplied ($$$!) but I had a look around a few other sites and these protectors seem to be quite rated.

So I bit the bullet and ordered two.

Cheers all. I've bought two as well.

Messed up putting the one in the box on, then bought one which only covered the screen. I can see the silver edge getting scratched, which would be a pity, so I've bought a couple of these whole face jobbies.

Will report back!

I would like to see someone make a screen protector that has a matt black surround and a clear window for the screen plus apperture for the forward facing camera - the silver mirror finish is a bit of a pain when driving in bright sunlight - Mike

No, no residue.

Made a rookie mistake, pealed the backing off the protector and put the protector on my desk thinking it was the backing.

It picked up a lot of dust which I washed off and applied again.

Is a good fit with a couple of marks that would not have been there if it were not for my mistake.

Hello all,

Can anyone comment on how well the EXiM deals with fingerprints and smudging ?

Tried washing my original orbit protector today and it looks terrible now.

I've used the Exim and the Vikuiti (3M) screen protectors. Both are very good, but I prefer the Exim (although a bit more expensive).

If memory serves, Exim protectors are available in a couple of different versions (different surface characteristics). I got one that is supposed to feel like writing on paper, which I really enjoy.

So what do you mean by "deals with fingerprints..." ? Fingerprints are always an issue ... there's always greasy residue on your skin and that will leave a fingerprint, no matter what. But they are easily wiped off with a lint-free cloth.

Cheers,
Andreas

the brando ones are cheap and excellent. they come with protective backing on both sides, with a "handle" to make removing it easy without messing up the corners.
tip: clean screen with sticky tape before hand. if you miss a speck of dust and notice after putting the protector on, you can peel up the protector by sticking sticky tape on it near the edge and pulling. remove speck and refit.

the brando ones have a really nice, slick, stylus feel. i like them a lot.

I've got the original protector, guess that's Durasec according to an earlier post.

Starting to annoy me more as we get into the summer that I can't see anything on the screen in daylight with the brightness on MAX. Just find the original way too reflective.

Do any of the ones mentioned offer decent anti-reflectiveness? At least better than the original?

Cheers

Kev

I dont seem to have got a protector with my o2 orbit 2, should i call o2 and ask for one? do you think they would send me one? and do you think its worth it?(getting one from them)

I personally would say: No!
When I got my device the protector was already installed by the person who tested the mobilphone before. He (or she) did such a good job in installing the protector that I didn't complain about getting a "used" device. :D
Now, we are approaching towards summer and the sun shines more often. Therefore I can't see anything on the display when I'm outside. :(
For me that means that in near future I will change the screen protector with a non reflective one (I hope it will help against the mirror around the display too).

So even if you get one, I wouldn't recommend to install it. I tend to install an Exim Ultraprotect within the next few weeks. (Just my 5 cents...)

Edit: Oh, I just noticed that you are living in UK - so maybe you don't have sun problems... :D

Looks like Morpeth Mobiles are potentially cheaper on their website:
http://www.morpethmobiles.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=%2FH34%2F%5FO2%5FXDA%5FOrbit%5 FII%5FScreen%5FProtector

It reckons you get two on the site  and the diagram shows the HTC version not the O2 styled model :confused:

I'm gutted that the Proporta protector covers only the screen and not the surrounding bits. They gave me a nice sachet of tea with my order of a screen protector for my Archos 605 and Orbit last year...I like freebies.

I've got a month until I upgrade to the Orbit II so I guess I'll keep trawling the internet for more info....
