Well, I've scoured the forums for a straight answer, but haven't been able to find one, so I'll ask here...

What exactly does the popular NoData (.cab) block in terms of functionality?
For instance, with it on, will I still be able to make/receive calls? Send/receive SMSs? MMSs?

I understand it disables GPRS, but I'm not sure what functions it disables as a result.

Thanks!

You will still be able to make/receive calls? Send/receive SMSs? MMSs.

AS I understand it it toggle a registry value to remove your data bearer ie GPRS or 3G

Works well if you don't have a data plan with your phone. I don't use data because I'm usually in a hot spot with wireless internet so I check my emails that way. I use NoData to ensure my phone never connects to gprs or 3g so I never have any unexpected charges

Right from the source (http://www.modaco.com/content/Pocket-PC-Software/246171/New-FREE-Utility/)...

It lists your GPRS connections, and allows you to disable them so that they won't be used.

Actualy i had bad experiance wit nodata, i took fathers sim card (same call provaider). that card had gprs enabled from provider side. i instaled nodata on mine kaiser, set it to disabled, close program, reopened to check if it saves settings, then opened i-explorer. i wasnt connected to wifi at that point, i opened page (random page) and whola, it still connected to gprs and and opened page. so after that i deleted program and now i seek other program that can disable gprs...

Did you click Exit instead of clicking the cross in the top right corner? Have used nodata on several carriers and never had it connect when not wanting it too.

Another way is that if you can change the GPRS access point to work rather than internet it will not connect, but not fast transaction on PPC, smartphone used to be faster with regards connection settings.

I believe you have to hit Exit (right soft-key) instead of the "X" button so that NoData saves your settings. So open it, toggle your connections to "Disabled", hit Exit and click OK/Yes in the message box. To re-enable data, toggle connections to "Enabled", Exit and then OK/Yes. It works great for my brother and cousin on their BJII's since they don't have data plans.

To be honest had always ticked the X "and has worked" as always thought exit would close and activate connection, but just tested set it and use any of them, Exit or X and it works.
