[UPDATE 03-02-09] - Iphone 2.0 Skin for Windows Media Player - (QVGA-VGA-WQVGA-WVGA)

Hi guys, i like to share some of my work with you.
First of all is the Iphone Skin for Windows Media Player:

This skin works with all Windows Mobile Version (2003/5/6/6.1) and it's supported by Windows Media Player and Conduits Pocket Player.
The skins support QVGA, VGA, WQVGA and WVGA device and doesn't require any additional program.

I can't wait to use this skin but I am having trouble getting my phone to see it. I have extracted and placed all 6 files in the Program files\windows media player folder where the other skins are but it doesn't see them. I have even placed the entire extracted folder there but still nothing. Can someone please help?

Same here, My omnia does not detect any skin... it says "searching for skins" but it doesnt find any skin ...

The "Default" skin should always appear in (Menu > Options... > Skins) as an option. Other skins will be come available after about 5 seconds if Windows Mobile determines other skins can work with your device. It checks the .skn file's description which contains screen resolution, dpi and its orientation. If a skin does not appear it's because the author of the skin didn't make one for your device - one of the three above doesn't match your screen.

To force a skin as a choice, you need to edit the .skn file with a text editor or Word Mobile on your device (just make sure when asked to save in Word format you click 'No'). I simply appended .txt to the filename, opened in Word Mobile, made the two changes below in bold, save/exit, choose No, renamed the file taking out the .txt extension so it's back to *.skn.


On a Treo 800 (which is a 320x320 square screen, I'm running realvga which bring it down to 96DPI from 128DPI) I edited only one section at the top of iphoneportrait.skn file so it says

Dimensions 320, 320 96 (was 240, 320 96)
Orientation Square (was Portrait)

Skin appears as a skin choice! Not all good news for me though...because the skin wasn't designed for my screen it flushes to the left and leaves about 20% of unused real-estate at the right, but appears fine and works.

I like your Walkman skin the best! could you make higher quality icons for your walkman skin? and add some touch effects, cause it doesnt have one right now, your other skins does though.

Thanks for your answer opacityzero... But I still have the same probleme ... My omnia does not detect any skin same the default one ... I've changed the config files as you said in your post (so 240*400 for my i900 ...) and nothing is detected ... I've got a french room i900XHHG6 probably it is the cause of all my problemes ?

That IS awesome . . . if i change those values in the file to 240, 240, will it work on a Treo 700wx? If so, will I lose some buttons?

I put your version of the skins in \program files\windows media player on my LG Incite (same resolution as the Omnia) and I'm not seeing anything under the skins tab when viewing the options. I've let it sit for a good long time searching and I'm not getting anything to show up.

I have a Samsung Epix and I just installed iPhoneSquareSkin_320x320.zip
It works without any modification.
The 2 mods I would suggest for it:
- volume control buttons (like the original wmp skin or the samsung skin that came w/ the phone)
- full screen capability

This is the first wmp skin I have found in 320x320 format. I wish there were a few others out there, but if the 2 suggested mods were done, my search for wmp skins will be over.

i can not get wm player to find skin, loaded into player folder and wont find in player options, able to find ok in wm player folder in file explorer but player will not open it.
have performed hard reset and reloaded but still can not be found.

I installed this on the Samsung Saga, and it works great! Thanks to everyone who contributed. I tried to find anther 320x320 skin for WMP as well, but to no avail. I tried to tweak my own using 240x240 and 480x480 versions, with limited success. Great work as always is being done here at XDA!

I tried to use Iphone 2.0 skins for windows Media player on my Treo 750, but they were not formatted for square screens (240 x 240). I made modifications to .skn, .png, and .gif files

Little changes made (Black).
I added mute & vol percent, but lost full screen and shuffle (BlackMax).
I changed colors to BlackMax (White & Blue).

Images are attached below along with zip of modifications.

1) Just download, unzip and put entire folder in \Program files\Windows Media Player\

2) Open Windows Media Player, go to Menu, Options, Skins, Next or previous to select skin, ok.

Install the cab, go to \Windows\Skin\iPhone2 and open "IPhone - 2 - WVGA - P.skn" with Pocket Player..

Or copy all file from \Windows\Skin\iPhone2\ to \Windows\
