View Full Version : WM6.1 ActiveSync with 2 PCs error code 86000107

Hi, there,

Since i upgraded from t-mobile's original WM6.0 to WM6.1, my ActiveSync 4.5.0 (build 5096, Date Published: 2/13/2007) can no longer sync properly with a second PC for Outlook PIM (contacts and calendar), and gives the error message "ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop. Support code: 86000107). It has no problem with the first PC (whichever is sync'ed first), only when sync'ing with the second one.

i'm also sync'ing with an exchange server on both PCs, and no problem there. i've also tried to set up the exchange sync on the phone (as well as on each of the PCs initially), the local PIM sync problem still persists.

I've tried all versions of Dutty's 6.1 ROM and many radios. I'm currently on Dutty's 19199 Lite and NIKI Radio's 1.58.16.27 (seems to be the best combination for me, TomTom nearly as good as WM6.0 + good phone reception, although a bit power hungry and adding speed camera warning to the map noticeably slows TomTom 6.032 build 8351).

i suspect that this is not a problem to do with the cooked ROM or radio, but something to do with Microsoft - perhaps compatibility between WM6.1 and ActiveSync 4.5 that is not fully tested yet?

Is there anyone who has encountered a similar problem? I've tried all search, but no luck.

any fix would be appreciated.

Do you try other WM6.1 cooked ROM(s) from Schaps, Sleuth, Alex, Kyphur and many more?

i tried Schaps, Sleuth, Alex before, as well as Vodafone's original (cannot remember though if this one was OK)

I've just flashed Dutty's WM6.1 Lite (released on Mar 08) few minutes ago and I did have the same error 86000107. It can be synced with either the 1st or the 2nd PC w/o error but not both. Whenever I fix the one then I have a trouble on the other.

I just did a quick search for error 86000107 (https://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsMobile/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2361747&SiteID=65)and a few people solve the problem by doing this:

Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.

The problem appears to recur when tasks are selected for syncing. I haven't had this problem myself but have had something similar with syncing notes which I've resolved in a similar manner.

Hope this helps.

ach2, clever that, search for the error code! i tried search for all sync probs...

anyhow, i do not sync Tasks, nor Notes. I believe i tried what was suggested above before, in desperation.

shall try again tonight on the home machine. cheers.

You can this:
1 Changed registry HKLM/System/Version from .dutty to .4.0.2
2 renamed Device Name
3 deleted partnerships in PC and PPC (I had 2 of them, do not know how I got 2nd one)
Credit taiseer999

There are also a lot of discussion on the Artemis Forum re this.

Thanks

cheers, Dave. did try all sorts of deleting partnerships (inc renaming device name), but shall try the registry tweak tonight...

why .4.0.2 though? hec, well, if that works, then it works and is worth a try.

shall report back.

I fixed it by opening new PST file and importing the old one. If it'll not help try to sync under brand new profile in Windows. This helped me...

I had this problem also, it occurred with all 6.1 ROMs I tried, did not occur when I went back to 6.0 ROMs. But I was able to fix it in 6.1 ROMs by opening a new .pst file on the second computer and then syncing the files with this new .pst file. I can now go back and forth between the two computers without problem and the error does not recur. I have not tried to reload the old .pst file or its backup from computer 2.

BTW the fix mentioned where you uncheck different information types, sync and then recheck them and sync did not work for me after the first successful sync.

Hope this helps!

have to admit that i also sync the .pst files at the 2 locations, using Briefcase.

I'm using last Ranju ROM. And this method helped me.

Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.

Interesting...

Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.

Very interesting! I believe i did this before, but now I've re-investigated again. Still not fully working for me, but this works if i sync two, not all three, of the following:

1. push email sync with exchange server (PDA overwrites server if conflict)
2. contacts sync with home PC (PC overwrites PDA if conflict)
3. calendar sync with home PC (PC overwrites PDA if conflict).

NOW EVEN MORE INTERESTING!
------------------------------
Do #1 and 3 first, then no problem adding #2!!! All other combinations will cause a problem how can one explain that?!

Now the only ultimate test left is to see if this still works at work tomorrow...

Sometimes this occurs due to a bad or corrupt item in the calendar, email or other outlook item.

Sometimes it helps to export the whole PIm (Calendar, EMail, Tasks, notes, contacts, etc) and re-import them and sometimes you need to run the outlook repair pst file utility. I know a lot of people will not believe this, but it truly works if you are having sync issues.

If you are using only Exchange sync, you may have to export your data into a PST File.
Inbox Repair tool

If you can't open your Personal Folders file (.pst) or your Offline Folder file (.ost), or you suspect that your .pst or .ost data file is corrupted, you can use the Inbox Repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. The Inbox Repair tool scans only the .pst or .ost file, not your mailbox on the server running Microsoft Exchange. The tool determines whether the file structure is intact. If it is not intact, the Inbox Repair tool resets your file structure and rebuilds the headers.
The Inbox Repair tool works on both the Microsoft Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst) and the Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst) data files in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.
Scanpst.exe is installed when you install Outlook. It is located at:
drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12.
Repair errors by using Scanpst.exe

Exit Outlook if it is running.
Double-click Scanpst.exe, located at drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12.
In the Enter the name of the file you want to scan box, enter the name of the .pst or .ost file that you want to check, or click Browse to search for the file.
To specify the scan log options, click Options, and then click the option that you want.
Click Start.
If errors are found after the scan is complete, you will be prompted to start the repair process to fix the errors.
A backup file is created during the repair process. To change the default name or location of this backup file, in the Enter name of backup file box, enter a new name, or click Browse to look for the file that you want to use.
Click Repair.
Start Outlook by using the profile that contains the .pst file that you tried to repair.
On the Go menu, click Folder List. In the Folder List, you may see a folder named Recovered Personal Folders that contains your default Outlook folders or a Lost and Found folder. The recovered folders are usually empty, because this is a rebuilt .pst file. The Lost and Found folder contains the folders and items recovered by the Inbox Repair tool. Items that are missing from the Lost and Found folder cannot be repaired.
If you see a Recovered Personal Folders folder, you can create a new .pst file, and drag the items in the Lost and Found folder into the new .pst file. When you have finished moving all the items, you can remove the Recovered Personal Folders (.pst) file, including the Lost and Found folder, from your profile.Notes

If you are able to open the original .pst file, you may be able to recover additional items from your damaged .pst file. By default, the Inbox Repair tool creates a file called file name.bak, which is a copy of the original .pst file with a different extension. The .bak file is located in the same folder as your original .pst file. You may be able to recover items from the .bak file that the Inbox Repair tool could not recover. Make a copy of the .bak file, and give the file a new name with a .pst extension, such as bak.pst. Import the bak.pst file, and then move any additional recovered items to the new .pst file that you created.
A copy of the log file is written to the same location as the .pst file.

eagle 1:

i suspect what you said is correct.

i think i've sorted the problem by re-building a new .pst. when i ran the scan, no problem was found on this newly built pst, but when i ran it on the old one, it reported that there were some minor errors found.

so i guess either the scan or a new build will correct the sync problem. what left now is to test it syncing on my office PC tomorrow.

many thanks for the tip.

sadly, i have to say, none of the above work for me after back and forth a few times (home->office->home).

guess it's something to do with my old outlook (2002)?

BTW, nothing wrong w/ Outlook 2002, either. I could duplicated your issue while running 2003 and 2007.

I sync to Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2007 under XP Pro (Home PC).

Support code 86000107 did appear on my home PC, and tried numerous workarounds.

Just to let you know guys. I did create a new PST file, defaulted Outlook to it and resynched my phone from scratch. The phone contents got poured into this new PST. It seems to have fixed the problem for good. I did close outlook and killed activesync related processes. Tried again with successful results.

I had this problem and went through *all* the suggestions to no avail.

However, when I flashed to "NoThrills WM 6.1 WWE *English* V3", it started to sync again on both my home PC and my work PC (contacts, calendar, tasks, notes, favourites). It seems that this error is a catch-all for a lot of different problems.

Syncing has worked flawlessly now for about a week - fingers crossed.

I had the same problem just now and tried the unchecking and checking procedure and it worked for me.

I've got a HTC Touch with Pinot WM6.1 installed.

BTW, I have yet to try and sync on the second PC...

Just this last wend updated from wm6.0 to Dyttys most recent wm6.1 and began getting this error when syncing with 2 computers work and home. The issue for me is definately with WM6.1 and so far none of the fixes have worked permanently!
i) deleting partnership and rebuilding works on PC1 until you do same on PC2, then return to find same error on PC1...no fix
ii) rebuilding .pst files from scratch works on PC1 until you do same on PC2, then return to find same error on PC1...no fix
iii) Deleted partnerships, then repaired the .pst files using scanpst.exe only to work on the first PC...second PC worked as well, but returning to PC1 the same error arises again
iV) unclicking my partnership connections (mail, contacts, calander, etc) then re-establishing same works on PC1 until you do same on PC2, then return to find same error on PC1...no fix
v) have just renamed ".dutty" rom .4.0.4 and changed device name and making new partnerships with PC1 and PC2 .....perhaps this might work but doubt it!

I am at the point where I have read enough threads to be convinced that there is an issue with WM6.1.......looks like the last resort is to go back to WM6.0 as I need to have both PC's sync'ed.....

Appreciate any help on this issue....seems to be a significant, well it has its own famous MS Activesync Support Code: 86000107....so why hasn't MS attempted to resolve this?

As yet though no solution (with WM6.1 installed) found....:(

Hi Try this:
*Untick Tasks and Contacts and let it sync, should now work OK.
*Re-Tick tasks, and let it sync,
*Re-Tick Contacts and let it sync.
*Done.

....Very frustrating and not the permanent fix for me unfortunetely....

An extremely similar problem happened to me ages ago. I wouldn't get an error if I only synced E-Mails, but I would if I tried to sync other items.

In the end, I backed up all of my contacts, tasks, notes, and calendar items to the most basic format I could think of (csv) so that I could double check for any data corruption using Excel.

I don't remember if I needed to amend anything odd (my memory is rubbish), but I imported them back into a brand new pst, dragged all of my old e-mails across to the new pst, and copied this new pst file to the second PC.

I wiped my PPC clean, Removed all ActiveSync relationships from both PCs, re-synced both machines, and it has worked perfectly ever since.

All I can assume is that there was some corruption in the old pst which didn't get exported into the csv file.

Might be long winded, but if you're getting desperate, then try giving it a go...

Have had this error ever since flashing 6.1 ROMS. Someone said that the problem was my work PC as it ran Windows 2000 & Outlook 2000 so after a lot of persuasion my IT department upgraded the work computer to Windows XP and Outlook 2003 (home one is running Windows XP & Outlook 2007).

I reflashed my Tytn II & hoped all would be sorted but have just got in from work to find the same damn error.

Will try the "untick - then sync - then tick" suggestions tomorrow and see if that solves this damn frustrating problem (oh and will reflash the phone tonight so its all clean for work tomorrow)

I documented this a bit in the bugs list here (http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=reviews&id=1050&p=3).

For me it happens after logging into Exchange with Outlook 2007 on another PC when the device is not connected to ActiveSync. I'm syncing the Calendar and Tasks with both a home PC running Win XP & ActiveSync 4.5 and a server running Exchange 2003 SP2. None of the importing content into a new PST file, repairing, etc. things have fixed it. The only work around (short of going back to Windows Mobile 6.0), is to uncheck the Calendar on the Windows PC syncing in ActiveSync, let it sync, then turn it back on and let it sync again. Any changes made on the PC Outlook will be overwritten by the Exchange server. I have to re-do those steps every time I reconnect the device to ActiveSync after accessing my Exchange account through Outlook. It's very annoying. This happens with the official HTC TyTN II Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM upgrade as well.

Hello all,
Just to add to my previous post....
...tried deleting and re-naming the partnerships, and device name (from dutty to .4.0.2.) and no joy, still getting the same error. I will now try to find out where the conflict resides by trying Calander only, then Contacts only, etc etc (I do not sync emails, so the issue with this error for me is not with emails)

but I still think this is a WM6.1 Bug
...last effort will be to go back to WM6.0.....oh well, so much for "improvements" with WM6.1!!

Gents,
After trying everying I resorted to flashing a new ROM...L26 v3 (see ROM discussions, and thanks to L26) only to find the same issue arise. So.....tried harded with new ROM installed now, and this was where I went:

i) Started trying to identify which (if any) was the culprit with my syncing; only had contacts (lots though), tasks, calendar anf files......cleaned up what I could in deleting superfluous data (old files/contacts no longer needed etc)

ii) started by NOT syncing just Contacts, and then pairing with second PC....and low and behold all others sync'ed OK...great start!!

iii) After confirming this worked and recognising that Contacts was the issue started working there.....

iv) Sync'ed everything with older work PC. Then created a Contacts only .pst from my older Outlook 2000 (work) PC

v) Went home deleted all Contacts in most recent Outlook 2007 PC, and then uploaded the Contacts .pst created on the older work PC

vi) turned on Syncing for contacts with home (PC no probs now)

vii) Sync'ed with older Outlook 2000 work PC no with all activated and synced with no error!

Am reasonbly confident this will work, and will post again afer I have cycled a few more sync's with both........hope this incremental way of solving works for others....

do I think this is WM6.1 related still???? Not sure...but it certainly got me frustrated enough.....btw, will probably flash to L26 v4 ROM (just released,. see ROM discussions) and see if I get issues again (when I am confident enough!!)

Yeah, I'm digging up an old thread. I had nearly this exact problem and here is my situation What I had was a home PC and then a work laptop that was on a network and synced with Exchange. I had to first sync up with the work laptop and then the home PC. If I did the home PC first, then the work laptop, the next time I would sync with the home PC, I would get this error code.

OK Gents, I can now say that the issue is resolved and I have sync between both machines now!! It definately appears that somewhere along the lines the contacts section of my syncing became "corrupted".

After saving just the contacts (only) off the older operating system machine (W2000, Outlook2000, @work) and saving as .pst, then installing/uploading the saved contact .pst on the newer XP/O2007 machine at home and syncing (after deleting all contacts on the home PC) seems to have resolved my issues.

Glad I'm sorted....hopefully others can learn from my experience...Rules of Engagement for this issue are be patient and try everying with the .pst files before wielding any big sticks!!

Well, seems the error code was different to mine but the cause was the same.

It was over two years ago, and I was using WM5 on my JasJar which may account for the slight difference, but a "corrupt" contact was definitely what caused it for me too.

Obviously a little issue somewhere that means Win2K/Office2K and WinXP/Office03+ don't always like having a mobile device as the "go-between" for contacts.

I think it is a problem with the ported ROM's. I remember having PIM Sync issues with my old Wizards ported ROM's. And sure enough my Hermes is having similar issues too with ported WM6.1 ROM's.

I am yet to try the error diagnosis method, I will do that tonight to see if it helps!

For Kaiser, I think you will be ok, if your ROM build is based on an official ROM.

Ok no matter what I did I couldn't get this problem sorted & have got fed up of having multiple copies of my calendar entries (which I then spend ages deleting manually).

I tried the unticking and re-ticking of the sync options - no luck (just more duplicate calendar entries) & I even managed to get the work computer upgraded to XP and Office 2003 but again no luck. (I don't sync with a server its just a plain old sync between two computers)

So I have re-flashed Sleuth's 6.0 ROM and all is well with the sync'ing. What I cannot understand is that some seem to be able to get it to work whilst others can't??

It's about a week that i upgraded my HTC Rom to the new one From HTC.
I wasn't able to activesync my PIM between two pc's (error code 86000107, and almost 7-8 hours for every sync).
I had HardSPL 1 by OliProf.
Now i installed your HardSPL 3.28 and everything works FINE !!

The problem is not ROM related, it's the Outlook.pst file on PC where you get the error. Under Outlook Help run the Detect and Repair tool. When it's all done go into the Outlook folder and delete all previous versions of the .pst files. Go into Activesync and delete your current partnership since it will always look for the file it was first paired with. Create a new partnership and you should be OK for a while until Outlook barfs again.

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to say i was receiving the same 86XXXXXX error on active sync, using a 6.1 cooked Dutty Rom, after reading this thread i decided to focus on my .pst file, as a result i isolated my active sync problem was associated with the calendar entries in my outlook. I cannot be certain but i believe there was a conflict with birthdays that were entered via contacts information. It looked like outlook had problems putting them in the Calendar. So i exported everything into a new.pst folder. Then exported the calendar separately. I then created a new personal folder and made it the default, then deleted the old on which was causing issues, i then imported the first.pst file (without Calendar), then imported the Calendar separately.

Since i have done this i have not had one issue with the error code coming back and it is going on three weeks now.

I would like to point out i deleted relationships on both computers in Active Sync and removed them from the Pocket PC as well. Also when syncing i used different names for the computers that i haven't used before. Not sure if it made a difference but as this has fixed my problem i decided to mention it.

If anyone wants anymore assistance or questions answered, please reply in the thread or send me a PM, i know this problem is a major pain in the ass, and if i can prevent anyone from sifting through the net and spending hours at a time looking for a solution i will be very happy.

In my X51v Wm6.1 this option works fine in the Windows Xp Computer i will check next week in the Windows Vista computer (work Computer)

I'm using last Ranju ROM. And this method helped me.

Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.

this problem is driving me crazy. nothing i have tried is working except unticking all the options and reticking it again.

but i have to do this everytime ! It's getting rediclous ! What's worst, there are no updates on Microsoft on this issue !

just delete all outlook entries (calendar, contacs) on both of your pc's. after that sync each pc with the contents of your mobile and you will not get this error anymore....hopefully:D.

Tried that, but it comes back once you modify any of the existing entries! In my case it is the contacts thats messing this up. Whenever I change any of the contacts existing information, it creates a new entry adding those changes! Drives me bonkers, so I went back to WM6.0 for now!

Just to commiserate, I have an HTC Diamond and synchronize both at home and work. Both computers run on Vista and have Outlook 2007.

I tried all the solutions presented in this thread short of reflashing my ROM (which I'm not willing to do at this point) and still the problem appears. I can synch either with home or with work, but the error always appears on the second computer.

Of course I can always delete the connection and make a new one, but doing this on a daily basis is ridiculous, to say the least.

It really looks like it's a WM6.1 bug and I wonder why the heck Microsoft has nothing to say about it :(

Hi Everybody,

I posted this a long time ago, but will post it again because I really think this works - I have tried it after numerous ROM flashes and have never had a problem with the error again. I sync calendar, contacts, favorites, tasks, but not email.

Assume syncing with computer A and B.

1. After flashing new ROM, sync with computer A
Before syncing with computer B:
2. Open MS outlook on computer B
3. Go to tools>account settings>data files
4. Add a new Personal Folder, named whatever
5. Make this new folder the default
6. Close outlook
7. Open outlook again
8. Go to tools>account settings>data files.
9. Delete your old pst file, which used to be default but isn't anymore
10. Now sync with computer B.

This assumes that all your info was on both computers, because obviously you have deleted your info on computer b.

See what you think.

Congratulations Spain, condolences to Germany.

I have tried multiple on-line solutions but so far I have found no solution to allow me to sync my Tytn-II between my home and work computer but I have no problem with 6.0 ROMS so I can only conclude that the issue lies with 6.1 ROMS and am surprised Microsoft are silent (as far as I can see) on getting a permanent solution for this error code.

I did post previously that i solved this issue well the error came back, on my home pc (B) i created a number of calendar entries, i went back to work pc (A) and got the error again, obviously this is a calendar issue for me, i found that if i make a calendar entry on PC A and then sync with PC B the entry will copy over and i can got back to PC A with no issue, but if i create the entry on PC B the issue will arise again, seriously considering going back to WM 6 now.

Frustrating is putting it mildly:mad: I thought I'd go for the official 6.1 Vodaphone ROM (downloaded direct from the Vodaphone site) in order to see if the issue was with 'cooked' roms but the problem of sync'ing between two PC's (both running XP) remains.

Am gonna hunt down a 6.0 ROM as I don't see this problem being solved in the near future.

*edit - got Sleuth's 6.0 ROM which served me extremely well a while back so am flashing that now*

Hi,

I had the same problem for a VERY long time, but i found that even with the error code popping up almost everything would sync on the PC with the error. I have never seen any data missing from any of the two PC's.

How to get past this:

I used HardSPL (the latest one 3.56) & the one of the newer ROMS (L26_KaiserDiamond_V9) and now I dont face problems like this anymore.

Do try it out.

Well I had the issue and resolved it by doing the following steps.

1) Identified and removed all duplicate entries in my calendar, contacts, tasks and notes folders (many programmes availabel to do this for you) - (Turns out I had many duplicate entries)

2) then set up a new pst and ost file on the pc and copied all entries across (only had to do this on the work pc which was syncing with microsoft exchange)

3) deleted old pst/ost file

Make sure when you sync with other pc you delete all old entries on the pc and copy over only the new clean ones from your phone.

All works fine now and syncs across both PCs

Good luck

Has anyone with this sync issue between 2 PCs tried the updated HTC 6.1 Rom?

Just wondered if it may fix this issue as well as whatever it was meant to fix. I have failed to sort mine out so have flashed the original HTC Wm 6 rom (original HTC 6.1 rom has the same issue for me) and all seems ok now, but I would like to have a 6.1 Rom installed.

This whole discussion is about WM6.1. WM6 doesn't have this problem. It's a Microsoft problem and as such it has nothing to do with HTC upgrades.

The problem still exists with the latest upgrade :(

Agreed - tried many cooked 6.1 ROMS, the HTC one and the latest upgrade from Vodafone all of which refuse to sync between my work computer and my home computer - however 6.0 ROMS work fine without any fiddling around with pst files or selecting and de-selecting sync options. Am left to conclude that the problem lies with 6.1 ROMS and activesync - hence why I am currently running Sleuth's 6.0 ROM

1. Export your personal folders to a new PST.
2. Go to control panel -> inbox -> data file management, add the new pst, make it default.

This is most definately a WM6.1 error, having suffered this on two separate devices.....the fix is to delete the pst (after backing up same) and then import the backup pst.........
Has worked for me. Wish some wally at MS would make a fix for this.....might only happen to large pst's though. BTW the error was only present in Contacts section for me.

Hi there

I am too optimistic, maybe... but this worked for me and I think it will work for everyone.

Let's first give the disclaimer: my problem was ONLY with Contacts, not with anything else... (ie - if I unticked Contacts in one, then everything went smoothly; as soon as I ticked it in both: error 86000107)... so...

The problem is indeed with Windows 6.1. So I figured that the contacts already in the PPC (Diamond, in my case) would be accepted by the bloody device. So, in the PC where you have TICKED Contacts:

1) Unplug the Diamond
2) Create another Contacts folder in the PC with the FOLDER LIST tab on the left (I named it Stash) and MOVE all Contacts there
3) Sync the Diamond. The folder Contacts get repopulated
4) Unplug the Diamond
5) DELETE all Contacts in Contacts folder
6) Sync - the PPC's contacts will be erased (don't worry, you have them in Stash). If you have some contacts left in device - delete them manually.
7) Unplug
8) Copy all contacts from Stash to Contacts in PC
9) Sync again - all should be perfectly synced again.

Now, when you get to the second computer, BEFORE ticking the "Contacts" box, do the SAME process, ie:

1) Don't plug the Diamond YET.
2) Create another Contacts folder in the PC (eg Stash, again) and MOVE all contacts there: the Contacts folder becomes empty.
3) Now plug the Diamond (it will not sync contacts as it is unticked).
4) Once it's synchronized, TICK THE CONTACTS BOX in Options of ActiveSync.
5) It SHOULD sync properly.

Hope it works for you. It DID work for me.

Cheers,
Massa.-

Having upgraded my phone to the new Orange UK 6.1 ROM I had everything crossed that the activesync issue would not raise it's ugly head but how wrong was I - same error code as with all 6.1 ROMS.

I have tried everything suggested throughout this thread (today I rebuilt a new PST on both work and home computers and still no damn sync)

Am now concerned that my next upgrade (probably to the HTC Diamond Pro phone) will have the same sync issue as that's 6.1 as well. I have posted on the official Microsoft forum but I expect they are rather occupied with Vista (and all that entails) to bother about such an issue on 6.1 & activesync 4.5.

Am 100% convinced that the problem lies with 6.1 as I have (yet again) gone back to 6.0 and the problem disappears.

when I had this problem and solved it by creating a new pst file, I synchronised over a shorter date range, going back only 1 month instead of 6. As it was something in my calendar appointments that was causing the issue I may have left the problem appointment out of the re-sync.

I haven't lost any of my previous appointments as they were all in Outlook anyway but not now on the Kaiser - only one month back and all future.

Just as a suggestion then, if you try and replace the pst file again, don't synchronise over a long date range and see if that helps you as it seems to have cured the problem for me.

All in all though, very annoying and clearly an issue with WM 6.1 - but why, no one seems to know - maybe its just less tollerant of problem items when synchronising.

This is very fruntrating for all concerned. I am sorry that you have failed to get it to work - whilst mine is working at the moment I am half expectig it to fail again any time, but so far it has been fine since renewing the pst.

I wonder why, with so many suffering this problem it does not seem to be recognised offically as an issue - or at least they aren't saying that it is.

I have previously got rid of this problem, however after updating to a newer version of 6.1 and then syncing with my desktop again the problm reoccurred. Again I got rid of it by:

1) delete all entries on the main desktop (the one that syncs with Exchange) (left entries on ppc, did not delete them)
2) Delete .ost file
3) create a new .ost file
4) delete partnership (important or when you next sync it will delete all details on the ppc).
5) sync ppc, creating a new partnership, and all details from ppc are updated to desktop.

Looks like problem solved again.

Therefore for those that have said deleting and creating a new .PST file did not work for them, the problem may lie with the .OST file, try as above.

Good luck

i also investigating so much time to this issue on definitifly wm 6.1
the same database works great on 6.1.
on chance is to try the extra tool: "XTNDConnect PC" -> this works for me - also with 3 pc's.
1.) delete all partners from active sync
2.) active sync is now only used for connection - no data sncy i had selected
3.) sync with tool above - this works for me for hole the time.

;( now i tried thumbcal - and it seems to be that this makes the next problems ... it seems to be that the new apointments are serious on creating and something is wrong - so i had alot of extra fun now...

but as i wrote above - use for sync the tool: "XTNDConnect PC" -< that works for me.

I have suffered from this issue everytime I move to a new ROM or device...typically now I just use my "Sledgehammer" technique.....
Basically...make back-up, delete all, reinstate back-up to one device, transfer accross to others, and keep fingers crossed :o

May have to tidy up duplicates (ODIR is excellent...), twiddle with recurring items (bdays, anniv, & some meetings)....see here,

I am very sure that this is an issue with Activesync and WM6.1.....and Micros*it won't solve this as they are now committed to Vista syncing package

Good luck

Barney

Edited for typos.
Pls, where do I find the .ost file

Thanks

Has anybody tried to see if the official AT&T ROM fixes this issue?

I am running the official AT&T rom and just encountered this issue. I sync with an XP box at work (no pst file) and a Vista 64 box at home. My solution so far has been to delete both partnerships and only sync at work. It's been good for a few minutes, so we'll see how it goes...

Do a search for "outlook.ost" on your "C" drive or try "*.ost". Not sure what the default location is as our work customises the location of the Outlook mail directory.

I had some appointments in the calendar for birthdays that lasted 25h. They must have been created by synching with 2 PCs. They also seem to double up when you re-do your partnership. I got rid of the error after I deleted those birthday series on both the device and the PC.
Lets hope it works when I sync at home...

Got mine to work......so far.
I noticed it was the calendar that kept giving me problems. I did not want to delete the .pst (too much hassle).

1) Sync'd my tilt with my home computer
2) deleted ALL calendar items on my work computer
3) sync'd my tilt with my work computer. This placed all the items back in the empty outlook.
4) sync'd on my home computer. NO ERRORS!!!

Will resync with work computer tomorrow. Crossing my fingers.

All I sync with my work computer is my files, calendar, and tasks.
I sync contacts, calendar, notes, tasks, and files with my home computer.

Was there a way you did this quickly as my calender at work goes back to 2001

Easiest way is to do view by categories, then you can select all and delete.

Here is what I did, and it seemed to work for now!

Installed ODIR (free to download, google!) and removed duplicate items. There were some duplicates in my tasks and calendar. I also ran SCANPST to make sure there is no error. Then i synced information to a fresh copy of WM6.1 (PDACornerV25) with my work desktop. Came home, created a new pst file, and synced all the information to the new pst file.

Havent run into this error ever since. I did change some contact information today, and it seems to work just fine, without any errors. Previously, it just created a duplicate contact information whenever i changed a contact information. But it works perfectly now, no errors.

Next test is to install another WM6.1 ROM and see if the error pops back again.

I am keeping my fingers crossed! Hope this infor helps someone. Good luck people.

Done all of that sometime ago - didn't work for me - sorry but good luck with it if it ends up working for you

Hi people this is the way it worked for me,

I sync in 2 PC: my home PC [Sync calendar, contacts, task and notes] and Work PC [Notes and tasks]

On my home PC I went to TOOLS-OPTIONS and uncheck everything so my TILT stay empty. Then restart my device [I think this is optional] and sync everything back except for the TASKS...

If you don't care about the TASKS then this is a excellent way to get rid of the Error Code 86000107!!!

I may have fallen on a fix but I haven't exhaustively regression tested this yet.
Uninstall ActiveSync, download the latest version 4.5 from Microsoft Downloads and install it. Note that after the install two Hotfixes are installed one for Windows Media Player and the other for RNDIS framework and drivers. This second hotfix is not installed on XP until perhaps SP3 and I am not sure about Vista. But this seems to have cleanly fixed my problems so far...

Hi,

I can't solve this problem. Every time I have to uncheck contacts and check it back again to make sync. work.

How should I solve this problem ?

I have the same problem with my O2 Ignito (another name for HTC Touch Diamond). As long as I only connect to one PC, it will Sync fine. As soon as I connect to the other, I get the famous error 86000107. In my case, it's the Calendar that won't Sync. Contacts and Files are fine. I don't use the "Tasks" any more.

I know, now, to untick Calendar, let it synch the others, then turn Calendar back on. It takes about ten minutes to resync the Calendar, and it usually screws up a couple of dates. Its most recent game was to repeat one recurring item 15 times.

I conclude it's a WM6.1 problem, that it's fundamental in some way, so Microsoft can't find a fix. You can read about it in many places, with various complicated suggestions all the way to "hard reset and reinstall everything".

None of which helps. I've not found anyone with a firm and final fix for this - the only workaround is "turn off the offending function, resync, turn it back on, wait."

Maybe one day MS will sort it. Or WM6.2 won't have the bug. We'll see.

An active sync troubleshooting guide for anyone who wants to jump start their thoughts.

I have found the site useful in many ways, if it helps, great. If it doesn't solve your problems it's still an interesting read.

Thank for the suggestion, this worked the first time I tried it.
Equipment: ATT Tilt, Win mobile 6.1, ROM ver. 3.57.502.2 WWE

Guys,
I had this very annoying issue with error code 86000107 and after few days of surfing web including this site I found the following solution which worked for my Trinity just fine.

I have two PCs which I am syncing with my device: The first one if W2K PC almost fully locked with Outlook 2000 working with Exchange Server. The second PC is my home PC with WXP and Office 2003. I’ve done the following.

Deleted a partnership with the second PC, where I could delete outlook *.pst file. I've deleted the partnership on both the PC and the PDA.
Created a new empty outlook *.pst file on the second PC and made it default outlook storage, leaving old *.pst file attached to outlook as backup to see my old messages etc.
Then I synchronized the second PC with PDA. Did nothing on a first PC (at work).

That’s it.

The solution implemented and tested 12-13.11.2008, today is four days as everything work just fine.

My device is HTC P3600 WM 6.1 ROM FInixNOver_3.6.

Good luck, Roman.

Yes this will work until the next flash! If you do not delete and create a new pst file again after flash, then the error comes back again. This is frustrating for a person like me who flashes almost 7 times a week!!!!:D
