Hello,

Hot fix for Touch cruise photo quality issue

If you zoom in on a captured photo and notice grainy, maze-like patterns within the image itself (this problem is caused by too much sharpness enhancement being applied in bright-light environments), please download and install this hot fix to solve the problem. Sharpness parameters within the photo will then be reduced with only a minimal loss of image sharpness.

Select your PDA phone or smartphone model from the list. If your registered product is not listed, please check back next time as new patches are added regularly.

I can see only this in my e-club page... :(

A good idea should be that you upload the fix somewhere ;-)

Thx for the info.

Not a joke, Htc removed it from eClub, and they also have removed this fix for the Kaiser...
Maybe it was causing other/bad issues

Found it!:)

In fact, Htc made a mistake in their download links :

it's not http://member.htc.com/downloadfiles/Driver/HTC%20Touch%20Cruise/Cruise_Photo%20Quality.CAB
but http://member.htc.com/downloadfiles/Driver/HTC%20Cruise/Cruise_Photo%20Quality.CAB

Here are the corrected download links :

Europe :

US :

In the case HTC remove the software from e-Club (this will not be the first time :-)), here is a MegaUpload Link to download the fix

And the description of the fix

3/17/2008 Hot fix for Touch Cruise photo quality issue

I've installed the fix just now. Because of the lack of light at the time (it is around 1am here in Switzerland) I've just try to do a simple photo of my tv ;-) Not real good quality (due to the lack of light) but I've try to zoom a max the picture and the result seem much much better than before the fix.

I've do a capture of the "About" information within the settings of the Cruise photo SW. Here it is

http://www.phonemag.ch/images/divers/cruise_photo_fix_ver.png

Could be interesting to compare with the version on a TC without the fix.. Warning, maybe the device should have the same ROM as mine (actually the 0.61 WWE noTom from Bepe).

I'll do some photo tests outside tomorrow.

The version of HTC Camera is the same in all versions and it's not changed with this upgrade.

Same version before and after :-( and I personally don't see any quality changes, poor as before :(

There actually is a difference. It does fix what they claim. I have a before and after picture. Without the fix, if you take a picture of some view such as a landscape with a lot of sky, you will notice little maze like lines in the blue sky. With the fix those lines are no longer there.

Has anyone used this fix with newer roms ? (syrius R1, M-mine, PhamQuang ...) ?

i tried it on r0 but that lead to black screen in camera app (thought it was due to the new opal camera app)
also tried it with r1 but same thing happens (although it uses the polaris camera app)

thanks in advance.
