Bomb dude, if I could get a copy of micro with the last-gen radio, that'd be sweet.

I just remembered. I'm not 100% sure what exactly is causing this, but I'm using a custom dialpad from the same guy that does the psuedo-touch wait icon, and when I open up the phone app, unless I dial a fresh number, it doesn't want to let me just hit the talk button to call the person I last talked to. I have to go into the call log, select the last call, and hit call from that menu. As I said, I haven't tried out other dialpads, so I don't know for certain what's the cause. Just throwing out a bug observation :D

Currently using v4.0 micro and loving it. Got one problem though. I'm not sure if anyone else is getting this, but it seems like this radio version likes to pick up a lot of static that only I hear. Makes it frustrating to hold a conversation if I'm anywhere but at home. Is there a way to install the radio you had in v3.0 tran?

VISTA LITE: Flashing was flawless; Post configuration flawless; all apps tested work perfectly: Advanced config; battery status (but i installed latest build on top of what was on board); SMS; MMS; tmail/email - over secure socket and vanilla socket; active sync 4.5 syncs contacts, notes, tasks, favorites; bluetooth HID and audio established connections well and no interruptions; wireless connections to unsecured and to WEP secured connected and no interruptions; youtube buffers and streams FAST (I installed HTC video streaming on storage card); my personal apps run FAST off my storage card (slingplayer, videocommander, SyncML).

SO one big thumbs up on the Vista Lite ROM. Great job Ttran!!!

it will give you more memory and make your phone faster. just back up all your data first.. the stock wm6 rom on the wing is HORRIBLE and slow imo.

the point of these "cooks" is to make a more stable, faster, user friendly, prettier?, ROM.

The stock TMO ROM is a resource hog and bloated with junk apps! These custom ROMs will make your phone perform faster and consume less power, cpu and RAM.

I've had this issue before, and had to call tmobile. They will have to kill your connection to the tower/radio you are connected to so that it can refresh and grab another channel. If you get transfered to their pda dept they will know what to do.

This ROM is cooked for the wing/herald hence the forum title. If you try to load it on the mogul most likely you will brick his phone. Try searching the forums for the mogul, but I dont believe TTRAN has cooked one for it.

On previous ROMs it has been stated that if you uncheck the box for auto updating time zones & clock, it would stop Activesync from randomly & constantly popping up. I can only speak for myself, but I had no idea what the Advanced Configuration (under Accessories) was...until today. That is where you can make even more changes & customizations to this excellent ROM, including disabling that box. If you haven't used the Advanced Configuration tool, check it out.

i am currently using the biggy version 4.0 vista and i don't know if it is my service or the rom but i am having this issue where once in a while when i call this message pops up saying that service is unavailable but while i can text and do everything else. I don't remember what the exact error is.

And also how can i change my WMP back to Vista style skin? i accidentally changed it back to the default and the vista style skin looks alot better.

I have a some ideas but not sure when I will be able to get them to work the way I want it to.

My goal for the next release is to come up with a more user friendly interface.

Im currently using the Black Lite rom and I love it. I notice one minor thing that gets on my nerves. If your in landscape mode the HTC X overlaps the data e/reception bars. Is anyone else noticing this? If so...is there an easy way to fix it? :confused: I just finished configuring everything.

That statement I believe was just towards the micro edition. You should be fine flashing the other versions. You can always go back to the original rom. Im pretty sure you can find the link by searching.

II. How do I flash an NBH file?

a. USPL

Step 1. Download Herald-USPL-Beta3. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A4N36HLO

Step 2. UnZIP the file into a folder on your Desktop. Let's call it "MyFirstROM" for simplicity's sake. Notice that there is a folder called RUU within this folder now. Keep that in mind.

Step 3. Download your NBH file and unZIP or unRAR it into that RUU folder. Make sure that that NBH file ends up in the RUU folder, not within a folder inside the RUU folder.

Step 4. Place your phone into flightmode.

Step 5. Go back to the MyFirstROM folder and then run USPL.exe

* Your screen on your cell phone will go white around the 75% part of the "second step" now.
* ActiveSync will LOOSE its connection.

Step 7. One step 3 on that black window, the RUU flasher will pop up. Just follow the steps.

Disable Random Access and Enable Scrolling

With random access you must do the following to enable contact scrolling.

Click on the contacts button at the lower right hand side of the screen.
Click on the Menu button
Click on Options
Uncheck "Show alphabetical index
Click on the ok button to exit

Now I know the following will sound strange but it will enable scrolling in the contact menu.

Repeat the following steps again, and the random acess bar on the right handside will go away and scrolling will work again.

Click on the Menu button
Click on Options
Uncheck "Show alphabetical index
Click on the ok button to exit

If you want to enable random access, just go back and uncheck the "Show alphabetical index"

It will prompt you with "Exit QuickMenu?

Choose yes and it will not startup again even after a reboot.

Things to do after flashing your device:

Network Wizard

Go to \Start\Settings\Connections\Network Wizard

Choose your location and provider, do not reset the device when prompted.

Connections

Once completed save and exit

Touchflo

Go to \Start\Programs\TouchFlo

Click on the TFSettings

Choose your view mode from the drop down menu and if you want sound while scrolling then check the Enable sound, if not don't worry about it.

Click ok to save, do not reset your device.

Go to \Start\Programs\TouchFlo

Click on Touchsettings

This part has already been filled out for you, just click on the save button to exit.

This step is needed so please perform it...

Now your ready to reset your device.

Send Large MMS:
Registry: HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI\Size Limit
Key: wap2sendlimit1 (you can also change wap1sendlimit1)
Default: 307200
New Value: 1228800 (1200K)

Registry: HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI\Size Limit
Key: sendlimit3 which will be set to the default of 300k. u gotta change it to 1228800 and than the 1200k will appear.
note u can also change sendlimit 2, 1 to be the same as what ever u decide to change wap * sendlimt* to be. once u do this the 1200k will appear.

++++in between doing the above and below, u have to go to

Set the new value by going to Text/Multimedia --> Menu --> New --> MMS --> Menu --> Options --> MMS Options --> Servers --> T-mobile MMS

the .nbh file is the rom file that you want to flash to you Wing.

For example: if you want to install TTran's Open Touch v4.0 Lite Black, download and unrar it you will then see the Open Touch v4.0 Lite Black.nbh file.

Then continue with the instruction.

Heres what I did. I installed my normal version of Office which installs itself to main memory. Then I installed the current update from microsoft which lets you install it to storage. See link below. I then uninstalled my first office and restarted. Then I uninstalled the office update. I went to install the update again and it asked if I wanted to repair the installation which in turn re-installs it. Done... You have to do some cleaning on your main memory when you uninstall the original version but atleast its on your sd card when your done. Hope this was pretty clear. Its a run-around but no one seems to have one to install directly to your storage card.

the biggy 4.0 vista works great for me. great job. the only thing that i miss is wm5torage, since it's a program that i use fairly often to carry some portable apps to work, since the network restrictions prevent me from installing anything on the work computers. :p

but i can just install the cab, since i always have one on my comp, so no biggie. :p wondering what the user friendly interface of 5.0 will be like. :p

Well. I tried. For me when I installed the update, it installed the cab then soft reset. No option for storage card install. Then after all was uninstalled and I re-installed the update and again just acted like it installed and then soft reset. Hmm. Probaly shouldn't clutter this thread with this particular issue. Did you follow the instructions on the first page. Go to Settings, connections, netwrok wizard and select your carrier. Before restart go to settings, connections, connections and let it do it's thing. Then restart.

You have to do some cleaning on your main memory when you uninstall the original version but atleast its on your sd card when your done. Hope this was pretty clear. Its a run-around but no one seems to have one to install directly to your storage card.

One more thing (I think): I get a message to the effect that sending an MMS message will end my current connections session & start a new one & I have to push menu>yes to send it, as well as to receive them. Is this normal or do I need to make an adjustment somewhere? MMS is working by the way.

The new rom might run a little slower than micro since it's bigger but not that much slower. You should give it a shot and find the suprise I added in it.

As for the radio, I will post it later today, eating lunch with my family.

Okay,

To flash the light, just use the standard flashing method, not the same process as the micro.

To flash the downgrade splash and radio, will be like you flashing your device.

You will be flashing your device twice but the splash and raido will be much quicker.

Flash the lite black rom first, then flash the downgrade splash and radio.

Actually you can flash the lite version the same way you flashed the micro.

Just rename the **.nbh file to the same name as the micros **.nbh and follow the same process.

As long as the name is the same as the micros rom you can flash any herald rom via sd as long as your HARD-SPL.

I do this some times when I want to test a build and do not have a computer around. I have different versions of my roms on my sd.

Which rom are you refering to?

All roms are flashable via old method except for the micro.

You can flash the black lite with the old method.

As for the inbox, I'm not sure but will look into it for you when I get a chance.

I've been trying to reproduce this error since yesterday without success.

Once I understand what is going on then I will be able to figure out a fix or not.
Dont know how to help you to reproduce it. It just happens no matter what. It always overlaps the reception bars in landscape mode. I think Joking also had this problem during beta. It really isnt a functionality problem so it doesnt have to take priority over anything. It just doesnt look nice that way.

Ya i noticed a lot of random behavior with this ROM, QuickMenu RANDOMLY works when you first flash the ROM. Sometimes it decides to be the default start menu, other times it takes a break lol. But after a while, it finally sticks.

I use Pocket Nester for NES roms and Pico Drive for Sega roms. The problem I have is that I cant browse for files on my storage card when I go to open a rom. It only displays files from main memory. I was able to do it in version Open Touch 2.7 but havent been able to in 3.0 or 4.0. Any idea as to what im missing? :confused:

Anyway I can get someone to send me the cab for Office Mobile since it doesn't come with Lite Black? I tried to extract it from previous versions and the easy bake oven, but it won't work on my phone when I load it. Can someone with the cab post it for me?

I looked for a version of Office to install on my storage card but I didnt find one. I had to try a couple of things. I got Office to install to my storage card but it was kinda tricky. Heres what I did. I installed my normal version of Office which installs itself to main memory. Then I installed the current update from microsoft which lets you install it to storage. See link below. I then uninstalled my first office and restarted. Then I uninstalled the office update. I went to install the update again and it asked if I wanted to repair the installation which in turn re-installs it. Done... Did you try re-downloading the file? It may have become corrupt during the download.

Once you download from Megaupload or where ever, jsut use Winrar or something to grab the NBH file and put it in the RUU folder in Flash Center. Make sure the Flash Center folders are in the root of the C: drive.

I get the same thing in landscape mode, and I also get one in portrait, but it is the three horizontal bar and down arrow icon (HTC X?) and the ok icon. It isn't all the time, it seems that the ok icon does not overwrite the bars when it appears.

The only thing i noticed is the incredible speed when i jump throw the setting (i mean the tabs).... am i right?

And i noticed the process list shown in the TaskManager is a little shorter, i mean i think that in the other roms the memory usage is different!?

Does anyone else have problems getting Windows Live to sync your hotmail? I finally got it working with the push support, but it does not allow me to download attachments. Anytime I try to download an attachment it says failed to sync. I've tried the 3 latest versions available from this board and none of them seem to work. I've also tried these combinations with both versions of biggy 4.0 to no avail. With open touch 3.0 (Windows live biggie) the Windows Live service was working perfectly. I can't imagine that having windows live built into the Rom was what made the difference. Any one have any ideas? If this is simply an unfixable bug do you know if the gmail imap works like a push client? I tried to configure gmail, but it wouldn't allow anything quicker than a check every 5 mins.

Once again thanks ttran for your hard work in creating this great rom. Without it I'd probably be an iSheep by now.

TTRAN releases different versions for that purpose. Try a couple until you find the one you like. I personally use the Lite edition and I love it. For youtube videos I use vtap. Just visit www.vptap.com from your phone and install the pocket pc version. It works good with edge but take a little bit. If you have wifi your ok.

I placed the nbh file in the RUU folder as it states in the instructions. what do you mean by c: drive? do you mean on my desktop or on my phone? as i understand, you're supposed to run the RUU from the computer with the phone connected via usb and activesync. if there is something else i'm doing wrong, please correct me. i keep reading about how great the roms are and i can't even use them :(:confused:

Edge is basically the higher speed data connection, similar to other companies existing G3 networks.

Got the fix for any that need it.. BIG thank you goes to Duprade for helping me out here..

Go into the MMS settings... and there's a place that says "what connection to use" ... its most likely going to be set on Tmobile MMS ... so change it to Tmobile Data.

this fix will automatically allow you to send and receive your mms messages.

I placed the nbh file in the RUU folder as it states in the instructions. what do you mean by c: drive? do you mean on my desktop or on my phone? as i understand, you're supposed to run the RUU from the computer with the phone connected via usb and activesync. if there is something else i'm doing wrong, please correct me. i keep reading about how great the roms are and i can't even use them :(:confused:

OK, I may have a -roundabout- method of correcting this. I went to Start/Settings/System/taskmanager (The second one) In Task Manager is the Button tab, on that screen I unchecked the "Enable the 'X' button..." and unchecked "Enable Quick Menu on..." (Don't worry, QuickMenu still works, I guess it is different than Quick Menu with a space)

After that, I have gone into BatteryStatus (1.05.105 Build 0290) and under the Tools tab, I enabled TaskManager.

I wonder if this is simply enabling the one I just disabled above, but when I press the upper right corner, I no longer have a large red X in a drop down menu with a memory percentage and another selection that I never used anyway. There is also no icon in the upper left corner, unless I have a program running in the foreground, and pressing that gets me the batterystatus version of this taskmanager to close the programs.

For what it's worth, this not only gets rid of any icons covering one another, but I like Batterystatus' version of this manager better anyway.

Just to clarify for anyone nervous about messing this up. The FlashCenter folder that goes to the C:\ drive on the computer is very simple. Unpack that and put it there. Change NOTHING in that folder except for the .nbh file that gets placed in the RUU folder by you. It does not matter what it is named, just leave the name the same as when you get it from ttran or any other cook.

The file you'll download with a ROM will probably be a .zip or .rar These need to be unpacked as well. (I use zipeg, use whatever you want, as long as it handles .rar files) Take the .nbh file you unpacked (the downloaded ROM) and put it in the above mentioned RUU folder.

Disble all radios (go into flight mode)
Ensure activesync is connected, and not busy.
Go to the C:\FlashCenter folder and run herald-uspl.exe Follow the instructions that have been posted in flashing guides, and on screen. The next step is what I intend to clarify.

Here's where it gets scary... After the DOS box does its thing, you will press enter while your phone is a paperweight, and it will start the Rom Update Utility, in a nice "Windows" box. Just accept what it says. It says to make sure Activesync is on and such, but just moments ago, that connection was lost. ACT LIKE IT IS WORKING and all will be fine, there is a list of about ten things to do before proceeding, but you don't need to do any of them, because you did it before running herald-uspl. It will ask about upgrading from ROM version ______ (blank because uspl just deleted it) to some number you may not recognize. Whatever version ROM it says you are going to put on, say YES. This RUU doesn't know you put a different .nbh file in the RUU folder, so you're fooling it. If I remember right, you basically just say yes or next to every dialog box in RUU until your phone starts up again with a great new operating system.

Now, enjoy setting it up again with your favorite .cabs and hope your wife doesn't kill you in your sleep for paying more attention to your phone than her.

When you want to flash a new one, change ONLY the .nbh file and do it all again. ONLY ONE .nbh FILE IN THE RUU FOLDER AT A TIME!

Hope this clears up any confusion others may have when getting to the RUU step of the process. (Feel free to copy this to any flashing guides)

* ActiveSync will LOOSE its connection.

Step 7. One step 3 on that black window, the RUU flasher will pop up. Just follow the steps.

Disable Random Access and Enable Scrolling

With random access you must do the following to enable contact scrolling.

Click on the contacts button at the lower right hand side of the screen.
Click on the Menu button
Click on Options
Uncheck "Show alphabetical index
Click on the ok button to exit

Now I know the following will sound strange but it will enable scrolling in the contact menu.

Repeat the following steps again, and the random acess bar on the right handside will go away and scrolling will work again.

Click on the Menu button
Click on Options
Uncheck "Show alphabetical index
Click on the ok button to exit

If you want to enable random access, just go back and uncheck the "Show alphabetical index"

Choose yes and it will not startup again even after a reboot.

Choose your location and provider, do not reset the device when prompted.

Choose your view mode from the drop down menu and if you want sound while scrolling then check the Enable sound, if not don't worry about it.

This part has already been filled out for you, just click on the save button to exit.

This step is needed so please perform it...

New Value: 1228800 (1200K)

Key: sendlimit3 which will be set to the default of 300k. u gotta change it to 1228800 and than the 1200k will appear.
note u can also change sendlimit 2, 1 to be the same as what ever u decide to change wap * sendlimt* to be. once u do this the 1200k will appear.

Set the new value by going to Text/Multimedia --> Menu --> New --> MMS --> Menu --> Options --> MMS Options --> Servers --> T-mobile MMS

It should pop up before the bootloader screen. If you do not slide down the volume button before the prompt ends then it should go straight to the bootloader menu.

I'd try making sure the file is named exactly HERAIMG.nbh caps sensitive. Has worked twice for me, once for micro, once for lite black. Second unrelated post coming.

not that significant since I don't use it, but while playing around with the newer options on the phone, I noticed that whenever I go to settings --> connections --> domain enroll and exit out of the window, the windows quick key doesn't work and when i use the stylus to click on the start menu, it reverts back to the old (ugly and useless) start menu...and the only way I can get the quickmenu back is to soft reset.

also, for whatever reason (since I can't duplicate this at will), battery status sometimes doesn't start in the today menu on a soft reset (even though it's checked when I go into the today menu option screen...settings --> personal --today), but I do know that battery status is buggy from time to time on their newer releases, so it's not much of a concern.

the new radio...for whatever reason doesn't work as well as the radio from the open touch 3.0 biggy...for me personally at work (but my workplace has already been a deadzone). I'll look around the forum for the info on this, but just figured i'd throw it out there too...

great work, still looking forward to the "user friendly interface" that is being planned for 5.0. :p

just to clarify, this is for the open touch v4.0 biggy vista theme (with cube)...i think the file was vista2.

on the htc home plugin...if you go over the application launcher and click on the third button (middle program that is preloaded)...which I think is responsible for screen brightness...the phone just freezes.

I saw that but have not had the time to figure out what is causing it. The builds have changed so much from v2.7 and I lost most of my older versions due to family members messing up my hd.

I will do a double take once I'm done with all of the versions, worse case, I will care you a person version since you've been so helpful.

Ok, ive been looking around the forums a while now, and after about 50 pages i figured id post, i cant find a fix for the mms issue, i can send them fine, all settings are correct, but as far as i can tell i cant recieve them im running open touch biggy 4.0 with cube, when i hit send recieve it says error synchronizing, if there is a fix for this please forgive and point in right direction, ninety something pages to look through is alot

ok, that's what i figured, but when i select the opera_mini.ink file, it states that i'm selecting something that isn't an .exe file so i ignore it, but when i go back to my cube and try launching it, it launches as I.E. any idea why?
