I have tried to do this step, i put the file on the root directory of the micro sd card, i hold the camera button, it says "looking for SD card" but then it gotes into boot loader mode (rainbow screen) and will not do anything else. i do not let go of the camera button at all. Please help. (trying to do mirco version)

I was wondering if anyone else ran into an alignment problem. I normally back up my data so in the future if I get another phone I could simply restore all my data and programs onto the newer phone. Everything backs up fine and dandy until I try to realign the touch screen ( it's needed because all screens are not calibrated the same - what is the middle for your first phone can be over to the right half an cm away on another screen.)

On this rom as well as the just2clean roms - after aligning the screen once you can not go into the alignment screen again. It would freeze. Any way to solve this? without having to hard reset once again to fix something as small as this?

Dont doubt it for a second. I've always considered your roms some of the most fluid and stable roms i've used. I cant wait till v5.0.

One small request for 5 micro and 5 lite - for the micro, please please please make sure there's full audio support. I'm really anal about my apps but it drives me nuts that I can't use the standard WM ringtone. And for the lite, a PointUI and Pointless version. I'm still undecided :p

If your device is HARD-SPL it should show the following information on the rainbow looking screen and if not then your not HARD-SPL.

What happends when you try to play the music with audiomanager?
I never use windows media, well maybe for the ring tones but not for audio, since audio manager looks and works better for me.

DRM has lots of restrictions, depending on how, where and under what circumstance you got the file.

usually DRM is mostly restricted to the machine you download the music from. thats the part that stops piracy (being unable to play it on anything else). check other devices. try to play the music you are trying on other devices... like a PSP, a ZUNE, an IPOD, another PC... etc.

if it plays on all these then the issue is with windows mobile. if it doesnt, then its part of the DRM protection and there is nothing you can do about it.

except convert from wma to mp3 using SoundTaxi(costs money) or obtain mp3s instead of DRM wmas.

That's a good question, but probably not... the few times that I have flashed my rom, or just did a hard reset cause an app was messing up, I lost my contacts and email... spb backup won't restore your email accounts, and sometimes the contacts... I just sync my contacts with my outlook account and go from there.. spb backup will keep all your apps in order though...

I downloaded and installed the "Open Touch v4.0 Biggy | WM 6.1 | Vista Style | Voice Speed Dial | No Voice Command Build 19199.1.0.0" which you said has TouchFlo Cube. But I can not find it anywhere, the only things in the "TouchFlo" folder are "TF Settings" and "Touch Settings".

so I just D/L'd the Flash Center, zipped the OT Biggy 4.0 w/cube into the RUU folder, copied the folder entirely from my desktop to my memory card on the phone (not enough room supposedly on the phone itself so I went to the SD card) and then tried to run the herald-uspl.exe file and get "herald-uspl is not a valid Pocket PC application." What am I doing wrong? I guess I'm the idiot who can't follow simple instructions but I'm following them and it's not doing it!

it doesnt but the same goes for htc home. Just use your wifi connection to get the weather..

HTC Home weather has a CAB file workaround so it works with the proxy hack. Maybe one will be made (or maybe the same one will work) for PointUI.

Is anyone having a problem with SMS where the recipient's address isn't autocompleted after typing any letters? I used a thread search and I couldn't find the problem, also, I was looking through the forums and joseph.sapri had a solution:

Run your finger/stylus from the top center of the screen down to the bottom of the screen. Your cube should pop up.

ok heres the deal. ttran is quitting, so lets not bother with semantics. this is a ROM development page. thus, it is imperative you have some knowledge of what is going on. flash the ROM on your device and make the list, then you will have contributed.

i am contributing right now by asking you all to quit asking annoying questions and hope that ttran continues to make public releases. i, for one, will not mind if ttran would still release his ROMS...

ttran, can you just drop them off like a baby at a church doorstep from time to time? no documentation needed. no need to troubleshoot. i know i will take what you leave, and hopefully you can just lock future release threads and be done with it.

I just wanted to confirm for everyone that I just flashed the
Open Touch v4.5 PointUI Lite and bluetooth stereo works flawlessly. Also,volume, skip, play, pause, and answering calls also work from the headphones without a glitch. Wonderful Rom. Still testing. One issue is when I turn on bluetooth from comm manager and exit comm manager, bluetooth does not stay on. I'm trying to figure out what the problem is. Also, it would be nice if the comm manager included a data on/off control. Other than that, excellent rom. I just tested Opentouch biggy, also excellent. If you havent tried it yet, check it out. Nothing but props to TTRAN. Keep it up. Check your Paypal. LOL

I guess it saved everything, not just the contacts/sms/etc. So I flash to the 4.0 and it loads everything perfectly fine. Well after realizing the 4.0 had a ton of errors on my phone, I decide to go with 3.0 which is amazing! I get the phone set up following the video and all is amazingly great! Could not be happier. I restore my settings and next thing I know, alllllll the programs are deleted. Nothing exists except MS Office. I can't even get File Explorer to open so I can try to rebackup the necessary stuff without doing ALL files. I wanted to do that then reflash 3.0 and have it be a dream. So I reflash 3.0 and try restoring again and yet again, it deletes every program! I need a way to make 3.0 work flawlessly like it was but pull my contacts/messages from the backup file. Thoughts anyone? Would flashing back to the stock rom then redoing the backup work?

I notice that v3.0 works better for most wing users since the rom is based off of the original tmobile wing rom. As for v4.0, I went with the herald rom just in case some folks did not know. The herald roms for some strange reason moves faster then the wing.

As for htcbackup, I've never used this program before since I've always sync my data, contacts, and etc with activesync and outlook.

If you use a program which will restore system files then yes the ones on the rom will get messedup.

If I were you, install the original tomobile rom, restore you data with htcbackup.

Then download another backup program like PIMBackup or SMSBackup.
Then backup your data and then flash v3.0 and then use the same programs to restore your data.

Thanks Tran. BTW, your software is absolutely stunning! I'm a fan of 3.0 from what I've been playing with. So I'll be sticking with this. I figured out the whole deal. I had to get 4.0 loaded, restore. Then rebackup only doing the PIM settings, load 3.0 and restore. Presto, works great with all the programs on there (haven't loaded them all up yet to verify all are working but they're there so that's a great start). Now I just need to find a couple programs and this will be perfect. Thanks again!

Does the program already have the pagepool adjusted? I have seen a hundred threads on here about how to change it to 6 or 8mb but it looks like the ROM has it alreayd done. True? What other programs do you recommend? I have the biggy but doesn't mean I don't want more cool shit! Still would love to have a calendar that would do multiple Outlook schedules. I'll pay ya $20! :)

i tried old protected drm files, windows media player fails with message "%1 is not a valid Win32 application"

I try a freshly copied protected drm file, same error message...

this was working before with original stock tmobile wing rom

I am having problem with my Xbutton. It does not close the application even if I checked the option in the task manager. Also, I do not get the drop down menu with the list of the tasks in the top bar. I did a search for the problem and people mentioned the batterystatus task manager,. but somehow, it does not seem to work. each time I check the option in batterystatus, click ok, and when I go back to it, it is not checked and it does not do anything.

Also, each time I soft reset I lose some of my settings ( quick menu comes back and my background/color of the bars are back to default) any idea? It seems I need to get rid of the quick menu.lnk file but I have no idea for the bars.

I am having problem with my Xbutton. It does not close the application even if I checked the option in the task manager. Also, I do not get the drop down menu with the list of the tasks in the top bar. Yeah, I follow that. I think I understand how it's done, I just cant find a download link for that Open Touch v2.5 Biggy.nbh file. I can't find one that's worth anything on file share sites. I just need to download the biggy.nbh file but don't know where the link for it is.

i was in your shoes about 4 months ago. if you use the rome you will lose my faves icons, but as long as you have already set up your 5, it's fine. otherwise you will have to dl the myfaves cab somewhere in the forum. i personally think its a great plan, but looks a bit sissy. you can manage your faves online if you want to change them each month too.

definately use this rom, its a huge difference from the original stock tmo rom.

The biggie, micro, lite version names have to do with the differences of whats included in the roms. Some people like to add their own custom cabs and so prefer the lite/micro versions. Some like the full selection by the cook as "full" or "biggie" version. Keep in mind the bigger the versions, the less memory in phone using that rom. But still, they are much much more efficient in biggie than your typical factory rom.

Hi, I just upgraded my Wing to "open touchv4.0 6.1 biggy". Now when ever someone calls me, I have to turn on and use the "Speaker phone" in order to hear them. I tried re-installing twice , but the same thing happens. Can anybody point me in the right direction on how I can correct this. Thank you for your time.

1) Every time I receive an SMS or MMS, or even unlock my device, the BatteryStatus welcome thing (Ya know, the thing that says it's free and use it as long as you like etc etc) seems to pop up. Is there a reg edit to get rid of that or some other sort of fix?

2) Every time I receive an MMS it asks me if I want to d/l it and says something about is possibly killing all my other data connections. On my old ROM, which was buggy as hell, it would just download them automatically and I wouldn't know I was getting an MMS until it was completely d/l'd and in my inbox... which is how I prefer things to be lol.

Aside from those 2 issues, I haven't found/had any other major issues with this ROM. I also looked through the posts and I didn't see any solutions to my issues. If there is one, I may have just over looked it. If someone could help me, or at least point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

First off, thank you so much Tran for your work.

I've been flashing around lately with my new Wing and I am settling down to PointUI 4.5 for now. I am satisfy with almost everything except the few problems I ran into while playing with it for the past week. I am not sure if one of the problems I am about to address has been posted before but I read through most of the thread and it only seems like the proxy thing for the weather isn't working which also affects me :( .

The first thing I notice is while using PointUI "Home's Comm Manager", the WiFi does not start when pressed at all. I need to go to WiFi settings directly and press "Turn On Wireless Lan". Once, I do that, it shuts off automatically then I have to press turn on wireless lan again for some reason. Then my WiFi will finally turn on. I only have to do this only once. Once I do that procedure, my WiFi button from the "Home Come's Manager" will work properly; meaning it actually turns on my Wifi and off while I press it. It seems like I have to run my Wifi up the first time before it actually works properly? If I use the default comm manager, it's a lot slower to load than the one PointUI offers with the interface for some reason. I have to do this every time I reboot my phone or closed it and have to turn it back on.

The second thing I notice with PointUI 4.5 is that when I press the Star Icon that opens up the Start Menu consecutive times described later, it freezes up my phone for a bit or it freezes my touch screen and I have to go back to my PointUI Home screen using the keypad. How do I get into this situation? I just press the star icon then press back, which brings me back to the PointUI home screen, and I keep doing the same thing repeatedly. Usually when I do this about the 5th time, my phone will either freeze or my touch screen will no longer be responsive. The only fix I can find for now for each situation is the following. If my phone freezes, it displays my Start Menu icon in grey, and I have to press display off using the button on the phone for my phone to unfreeze and work again. My touch screen works when I encounter this problem after I do the display off. However, when it freezes before I do the display off, the keypad and touch screen isn't working. If my phone did not freeze and I still see my icons in color, my touch screen will no longer be responsive and I have to use the keypad to press back so I can go back to PointUI home screen. Once I do that, the touch screen works again.

Both of these problems did not require a soft reset for me. I originally though that since I used the "screen roll style screen transition", it was the culprit but it wasn't. I changed back to the default screen transition and it was the same thing. Then I thought because I did overclock my phone at a high 299mhz, that might have been it so I started to work my way down to 201mhz settings, but I ran to the same problem; it either froze or the touch screen will not respond. I tried it to the contact, application, and the three other icons that give you recent call history, mms, and Outlook e-mail but all responded correctly without any of the two problems I mentioned.

Your questions are rather PointUI specific than ROM specific.

To be able to start wifi from PointUI wifi must first be initialized, that's what you did from the wifi settings. Then wifi can be switched on/off through PointUI. See this:

I can't reproduce your situation in the 2nd question so I don't have an answer.

to back up the rom you can purchase spb backup or sprite backup ( i use spb backup - they have a trial version you can get ) sprite backup is longer..
you can backup your contacts online by setting up your outlook on you phone ( use mail2web or windows live - you can sync your contacts on there so that if you ever lose your info on your phone it will be safe there to redownload or sync when you get back up and running....

My battery or batteries because I have tried many, are dying on me every two hours. i can charge it all night it will even die while charging. the battery level starts dropping and droping until death. but check this out. if I remove the battery and put it back on, when I turn it back on my battery is back to 100% it will last me 2 more hours. then it dies I repeat the process and then it will be on 87% and on and on all day long. the other thing is, when I put it on the charger it will say its fully charged in 10 minutes.

I have tried 3 different batteries and its the same so I am thinking its the software.. I didn't run battery status at the biggining then after it started messing up I ran it but made no difference..

matter of fact try flashing back to the OEM tmo rom.. it happened to me with my mda I flashed a rom on it and it seemed like the battery would die in less than 30minutes... I flashed to a different rom and everything was cool...
sometimes the battery guage app or the some of the settings in these roms could be off.. I would try reflashing to the OEM rom first seeing how the phone reacts after a few hours then flash to a different rom that you like and see how it acts...

yes, search for the file called sms tweaker - it allows you to change the view mode from threaded to the plain jane oem way.

This may not be something I can get help with here, but thought I would ask. I just got myself a brand new T-mobile Wing. I setup direct push for my email and it was working great.

I flashed it to Open Touch v4.0 Biggy | WM 6.1 | Vista Style | Voice Speed Dial | No Voice Command Build 19199.1.0.0 and direct push will no longer work correctly. I can still open Active Sync on the phone and force a wireless sync, and it will work fine and download mail, it just won't push mail as it arrives. It issues the default heartbeat of 480, then Active Sync disconnects and won't connect again for about 8 minutes. If there is any new mail that comes in, it won't be pushed to the phone, but as soon as that 8 minutes is up and it tries to sync and resend the ping command that mail will be downloaded.

If it is just on the standard GPRS connection to wap.voicestream.com or internet2.voicestream.com when Active Sync issues the ping command it gets a Gateway Timeout error. Here is a log from Active Sync with Verbose logging enabled:

Any ideas what in the world could cause this issue with OpenTouch flashed on the phone?

did you follow the info in the video that was provided with setting up the wing after flashing????
if not install network wizard, and run that program, it should remedy your problems... delete the online server from the wing and then reinstall it... everthing should work from there..

Yes, I did follow the video and ran the network wizard. Just to be sure I deleted the connections and ran network wizard again, same deal.

I don't have any problems accessing the web. I can surf webpages and download weather and all that just fine. It's just direct push that doesn't work.

In Exchange 2007(not sure about 2003) you can setup Mobile Devices in Webmail. Make sure you only have one Device setup for your exchange account. Maybe there is a conflict because even though its the same device. the software versions are different.

Not sure if this could be causing the issue, but i did notice when i had multiple devices syncing there were some quirks.

I don't have any problems accessing the web. I can surf webpages and download weather and all that just fine. It's just direct push that doesn't work.

what email service are you using, and you also have to set up the account thru activesync on your device, not setting it up as a email account!!! also choose notify as new email arrives...

I am the Sysadmin for my office, I'm using my own exchange server. Yes the phone is setup through activesync to get mail directly from the exchange server as items arrive.

Like I said, if I setup a VPN connection and bypass my firewall, it connects and direct push works flawlessly. Something is making the firewall kick the packets back when it's not connected via VPN and is instead using the T-mobile GPRS network. I'm trying to figure out what that is. Because I have 7 other people here using direct push with no problems and not having to connect via VPN.

And it worked just fine on my Wing prior to flashing Open Touch.

Was actually thinking about doing that... I've got an 8 gig MicroSD card coming to me in the mail and was going to change a bunch of things around once I got it anyways.

I only went with 4.0 originally because from what I read around here people seemed to think it was more stable, and this was my first time to ever flash a rom, wanted as little trouble as possible.

It delivered in that aspect, other than this direct push thing, everything else is flawless.

i dont want to rain on ttrans parade but papas rc4 or rc5 rom is the most stable right now.. the rc5 is what im running right now and its fast and more stable than ever.. maybe 1 hack to do to get it right...

Well... those require Hard-SPL right? Considering it was my first flash ever I didn't want to attempt that right off the bat.

you can use flashcenter which wil temporary hardspl so you can flash the rom... never had a problem flashing using flashcenter.

if you were to change the calculator skin, you would have to take all the image files for the new calculator skin that you want to use and drop them in the windows folder.

Just to double check, once you selected the cube settings, did you reset the device?

If it's from the top to the bottom then make sure to slide your finger from the middle of the top of the screen to the bottom and it will start.

First, you should probably search and post in the OT 5 thread. There are hundreds of posts on that thread that answer your problem about the sms issues. I believe the fix has even been posted on the first page. Try there, and if it doesnt work the first time then try a few more times as it does not usually work the first time for some reason. make sure you follow the directions as there is a certain order to checking and unchecking boxes. If you have problems or questions after that, the search the thread as pretty much any question or issue you could think of has been answered at least 5 or 10 times in the thread.

Still NOTHING! I dont know whats going on i just flashed back to the orig stock rom from the t-mobile site and that works fine and i have previously flashed a rom before (version 4.0) but now when I do it all it says error 270 is there something i have to do on my cpu b4 i get it to work?

I have re-flashed to v4.0 biggy and I noticed that the menu in emails has "delete all" at the bottom of the menu window. Once this is pressed, there is no warning and all emails are wiped away in an instant. Is there a way for me to completely disable that menu item? Ive lost an inbox or two by accident...(I guess I have banana fingers!)

How did you do to fix this because i am having this same issue. I cant access my MMS options, I can send a MMS but i cant receive them, the message never even appears i received a message.
Otherwise everything else works perfectly

mine was doing that because i used spb backup. just clean storage and dont restore your txt/mms messages.

I am using the lite version and it is working great except I have a small problem with my comm manager.

If I set internet sharing as one of the buttons, when I try to open it after the reboot I get an error that says Comm Manager does not support "Internetsharing"

Is has worked before with other versions.

Also, there must be something overriding what I set my buttons to do. I tried to set holding button 5 to internet sharing but it still wants to toggle silent mode.

Yes, the new lite version without spb and tl does come with a blank today screen.

It was designed for advance folks to add their own today plugin of choice and apps.
