Garmin Mobile Question

I have disabled Garmin Mobile XT from using my data connection because I currently do not have a data plan, but when I start up Garmin Mobile XT it seems that it is opening a data connection and I have to stop it with the comm manager. Whether its transferring any data I do not know. It seems like it might be trying to check whether its the latest version of Garmin Mobile XT possibly... My question is "Is it transferring any data? If not, then why is it starting a data session?"

I'm using DCD 3.0.0 ROM with internal GPS, but I don't think that is relevant.

Which version of Garmin Mobile are you running? On your storage card, you should see a folder called 2577. You can delete this folder and it should stop Garmin from auto starting when you soft reset. Why use Garmin Mobile and you don't have unlimited data?

I'm using version 4.10.40. I use Garmin Mobile because I can load the maps onto my SD card so I don't need a data plan.

I have never seen an "Upgrade Available" message from Garmin. Even when upgrades were available.

But it does probably check for a data connection at startup.

What I did was delete the actual connection in the manage my connections. Then there should not be a way for it to connect. I like Garmin too, for the same reason, no need for a data plan. Try that if you can. Also, if you have Verizon, you can have them block the data plan and then you really would not need to worry. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help, but I have 1 more question. It seems since installing Garmin Mobile XT and that single program only, my time gets set back and hour or so and it sets it back 2 or 3 days every so often. I've been running this new ROM for about 3 weeks and have had no problems since installing Garmin Mobile XT. Is there an option in there that I have set that is making it do this?
