a cdma version of the shift will be soft released next week with the full rollout in april. sprint will be the exclusive carrier in the usa. it will be sold through var channels only. the gsm version is not expected to have fcc approval until next year for release in the usa

Not "VAR channels only". Amazon is selling it (pre-order at the moment) and HTC states they will sell it direct from their web site.

The issue with the GSM version in the US isn't the FCC...

Yep, that's the issue. Because of the suits between those two, new devices with the Qualcomm processor + 3G can't ship in the US :(.

If the price for the Shift is $1500 I think I'll stay with my HTC mogul. That is insanely overpriced.

and GSM Shift is Shangrila
