Hi Everyone,

I experience that the inserted SD-card is not detected when I put my Shift into hibernation and than resume. Even worse: it doesn't appear when I remove & reinsert the card neither :-(. I need to reboot when I want to use SD again !
Would be great to hear that somebody solved it in the meantime..

I'm experiencing the same problem :(.

Other than that I couldn't be happier. This is by far one of my greatest gadget acquisitions!

ok i got a workaround, b4 you hibernate or put into sleep disable the memory card under disks in device manager then sleep/hibernate. when you wake up re-enable sd card in device manAGER. works for me but is not ideal, guess we have to wait for updated driver.

Now...

What do you know.

Mine stays on after Hibernate and back.

I installed SP1.

Could that SP1 have solved it?

It is a 4.0 GB SDHC card from Sandisk

No, it's not solved.
I've got sp1 from the beginning and am missing the sd card

Hi,

I was also experimenting in the meantime. Apparently, when I enable Readyboost on the SD ( not the whole capacity of course), it stays visible after hibernate and resume.
Can somebody confirm it or it is just my luck ?

I can confirm i am having the same issue as well, seems to be a bug in Vista, maybe after SP1 will be solved.

Same problem. I have SP1 and it won't even recognise the card if i take it out and re-insert it.

No problems here with SP1 and 8GB SDHD....I always recognizes the card (but after 5 - 10 seconds)

I am unable repeat this problem.

I have two SD cards.

One is an "old" Sandisk Extreme III 1GB card and now and then it gave me problems not being recognized after hibernate/resume.
Today I am testing it several times ( with power plugged in or not, and several power plans, because they are supect for me) and I see it back every time.
I can "safely remove" it and I get it back.

So this is really random.

The other card is a 4 GB sandisk SDHC. I never had problems with this card.

How now?

I hope somebody can find a kind of consistency in this problem. Restarting is a drama under Vista and, when on battery, costs you at least 10% of power.

Edited: Now I also have problems with the 4 gb SDHC card. So, for me, the problem is random.

Also after "safely remove" the card does not come back when ejected and re-inserted.

Using the USB port with a reader seems to work better. But not very handy though.

Strange Faisal,

It does'nt seem to work for me. The Shift did not show my SD card after an "re-enable" It (Of course) asked me to restart after the enable.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

Now I have this problem too :(
Not at first but today it suddenly started, I changed nothing, didn't install anything. Just browsing the Internet.

btw, I can't enable readyboost... The option is not there in SD properties... Could it be the card is not readyboost capable? Or should the tab to enable readyboost still be there...

grtz,

Pfeffa-rah

You have to enable the readyboost service. It is turned off by default on the shift.

Oh? How?
The windows help only tells me:
When you insert a compatible device, the AutoPlay dialog box will offer you the option to speed up your system using Windows ReadyBoost.
Well, the option is not there and also not in the SD's properties...
Thanks if you can point me in the right direction.

Not sure if we are talking about the same things.

If you do not enable the ReadyBoost service, the Readyboost option will not appear under the SD card's properties.

Have you enabled the ReadyBoost service? It is set to disabled by default. You will need to set it to Auto.

Please use the search button at the top of the page, it has been discussed several times.

You must first enable the Readyboost service... there is serveral ways to get to the services menu... but this will get you there.

1. Click on the Start button.

2. In the search field on the Start button type “services.msc” and press the enter key.

3. When User Access Control asks if you would like to continue, do so or provide administrative account credentials to do so.

4. Scroll down to and double-click on the ReadyBoost service.

1. Change the Startup Type drop down menu to Automatic.

2. Then press the Start button to start the service.

3. Press the OK button.

5. Now close the Services console.

The ReadyBoost service should now be started and if you reinsert the flash drive you should see ready boost on the flash drive properties menu. If not, reboot and try again.

OK, I'm gutted. Waited ages for my 4GB Kingston SDHC class 6 to arrive (not the biggest I know but all I can stretch to at the mo) and the Shift won't pick it up at all. I've searched this forum and most of you seem to be getting on OK with your SDHC class 4 and 6. Anyone else had trouble - is there anything I can do?:(:(:(
