Hi all,
Hate to generate a new thread for this, but I've been looking all over and can't find anyone who has asked this. On the 7501, has anyone tried speeding up the host USB port? It's claim is that it is a USB 1.1 port, but is ti that way because of hardware a limitation or because that is the speed selected? Transferring files to/from memory sticks or ext HD is very slow.

Thanks
Matt

IIRC it is a limitation of the USB Host controller which is 1.1.

IIRC it is a limitation of the USB Host controller which is 1.1.

After the initial novelty wore off I only used the USB host input on the Athena for HID devices, I think it's practically useless for anything where speed is important. If I tried to view a movie the drive would often disappear halfway through the film, and navigating forward was ridiculously slow. Even photo slideshows had a lot of lag. It's a shame it isn't USB 2.0, not sure why they created this limitation since usb 2.0 is really old in itself now. 1.1 is ANCIENT

Thanks guys,
That is what I suspected, a hardware limitation. It may become a reason to upgrade sometime in the distant future. :) Like we need a reason.
