Great guide, I found out I have

I know that there is no officially signed ROM for this model so I'm at risk when I flash another ROM. I would like to try out the WWE edition though so my question is: can I somehow "cook" up a ROM using the official OS but pof's USPL and flash that to my device so that it stays CID unlocked?

just pay attention that after flashing the USPL, u dont flash a shipped ROM which doesnt match ur cid/did.

im pretty new and i went through the same thing most phones out there if they have ram will have a update on the service providers web page. but if they dont then trying to mod your phone will be a bigger risk. so when i bricked my phone i brought it back to t-mobile and they gave me a new one. yesterday i reflashed it and iworks great. i think you might need to hold on until a update comes out or there is a guy on these forums that can help you for a donation.but im not sure what his name is but he has helped alot of people. if i were you i try to return your phone and say you loaded some bogus software on it and you dont know what happend.

Perform the MTTY checks to see if you are CID unlocked and then if you are, try putting it into boot loader and then trying to load a ROM?

Hi, my device is bricked, and the info i have is that the device id is ELF010150 and the CID is HTC__017. i´ve tried to find out a original rom to flash my touch but can´t find it. is there anyone that could help me. I first made the Cid unlock procedure, and it said that you could then flash to any other rom, so I flashed with a ROM that says spanish rom wasabi green. After flashing, the touch powered on correctly and was working perfectly but it went out of battery, I tried to charged it but then only a orange light on the top came up, and when i try to power on the phone it just got until the SMART MOBILITY screen and then turns off again, any idea of what i could do to unbrick the touch???



I also have the very same DEVICE/CID ID, and mine is also bricked.

Any sucess in getting the original ROM ?

Hi all! I 'm around few weeks now and downloaded many roms to try on my Elf (originaly T-MobUK), but last night i decided to upgrade to FlashingTouch. Ofcource as my device was CIDLocked i had no luck, then tried Bluelf's again the same but afterwards i made my big mistake; i started installing PDAMobiz's rom for the DopodP800 (Artemis rom ) that i had downloaded for my P3300 Artemis, the rom was installed and ofcourse i get only to T-Mob's welcome screen or the tri-coloured boot screen.
There i'm getting IPL 1.13.0002 and SPL 1.13.0000
The original rom doesnt want to be installed and i'm getting the following:
Checking SD contents
Invalid Certificate

press any key to continue

and then when i press a key returns to tri-colour bootloader
Can anyone tell me why this is happening and/or how to solve this?

IPL 2.20.0002 ----> I think your device is an ELFin (256/128)


"ELF_USPL-v1_CID_Unlocker" -----> You did USPL process with the ELF unlocker, this is not for ELFin.

SOME FACTS

- If u flash a ELFIN (256/128) rom to a ELF (128/64), you'll get a tricolor nice bricked device

- If u flash a ELF (128/64) rom to a ELFIN (256/128), you'll get a fully bugged device (it works, but... Slowly, Power button acting weird, No inactive mode (always on)

PLEASE HELP PEOPLE!

I have my touch packaged and ready to go to HTC. But it has a cooked ROM on it, if they find out I cannot get it repaired.
All I want to do is revert back to the original ROM. Thats all.
However the screen is broken (white screen of death)
All I have is my S/N and P/N to hand.

as has been said many times before, u can not CID unlock from bootloader. if ure CID locked and phone doesn't boot, only a shipped ROM matching phone's CID & DID can save u. otherwise only Olipro can do this job. if u want to flash a shipped ROM, it MUST match with ur device's CID and DID.

Secondly, I can connect my phone to my PC using My Mobiler and see the phones screen and control it.

I can view my windows mobile screen via my mobiler, but I fear my mobiler wont work in bootloader mode as it relies on activesync connection.
If there is a utlitiy or something I can run within the windows mobile environment that will display my CID, please let me know.

Im looking at the first page of shipped ROMs.
Please note I have an ELF not an Elfin.
Outlook Web Access (as I sync over exchange) tells me my device ID is ELF010000

So which ROM would I use?

Who said that you need to watch the phone screen to get your DID&CID?
The whole process is done in your PC!
Just enter bootloader-connect to pc&go on with the process!

No - as far as I know.
But you may try various apps like SKtools or AdvancedConfig or whatever you google.

Ok, I've redone my Rogers Elfin backup by adding in the original SPL version (2.21.000) and the original Radio version (03.07.90)... I got the last two from other shipped ROMs. I've also included the HTC splash screen in this one, which is added in the case that your Elfin's 1st splash screen was overwritten by some custom ROM (such as PDA Mobiz).

Shall we post this one instead of the Rogers Elfin OS-only backup that I originally posted (or both)? It has been tested and works.

EDIT: I also have the original IPL in there now.

No, because you will never get by that way the certificaes to do a valid ROM.

Thanks to new user Boodah, who provided me with the Extended ROM directory of his unmodified Elfin, I have constructed a 100% COMPLETE backup of the Rogers Elfin system.

The original OS which was posted up here didn't have ExtROM, so it would freeze after a hard reset during the system customization part; although it had no problem afterwards.

Note, this is not just the OS, so it will overwrite your IPL, SPL, etc. -- Cyzeek, could you add these details to the list as well? Thanks!

This won't unbrick a Rogers Elfin because it's still unsigned like all the other custom ROMs. But if you want to restore your Rogers Elfin back to original condition, then this is an exact copy with nothing taken out (other than the signature for signing the ROM).

The Wiki page only tells you how to back up the OS, so I could probably update it with the other parts.

We can try making a Super ROM for the Rogers Elfin backup (although it is only 6.0):

e.g.
- Change IPL to 2.26 (or 2.28?)
- Change SPL to USPL 2.26

It's not really that new. It is is still WM6.0 I think.

6.1 would be the best, but I am planning to give my phone to my mom and wanted her to have a stock ROM and not have to worry about her crashing it since she is only going to make calls. Keeping that in mind I want to have the latest ROM. I don't think HTC has made a 6.1 ROM, or has plans to make one either.

Not only the tools, but the ROMs too (one for elf one for elfin) (in *.nb format) which will be used as a shell for the dumped files.
It's the way I dumped my ROM, so I know it works, but no one else has reported success or failure...
so I'd appreciate any feedbacks on this one!:)

Oh ok, I had already put my link up yesterday, and it contained the nb files as well. I also included the tools to back up the ExtROM. Should be similar to yours, they all worked for me. Sorry if I forgot your original link!

Haha.. don't worry.. Don't be intimidated by all the output.. It's actually pretty easy. Just use the commands given and don't wonder too much about what they do -- Everything is written out for you clearly step-by-step :-)

Uh, that's not a valid "dump". You are supposed to make it into an unsigned_ruu.nbh. Did you follow the guide?

no, it doesn't have IPL/SPL. Kokotas has posted a package in CyZeeK's thread on how to dump spl (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2364332&postcount=9). u can use that to dump the SPL. similar kind of package for dumping IPL is also posted by him somewhere. it will be great if u can get us both the newer IPL/SPL :)

Didn't Kokotas say later that the SPL dumping method was not correct because it uses the wrong address?

Hey Cyz, thanks for adding the Orange ROM.

Regarding the Rogers one, in my opinion we should remove the one without the ExtROM, because it is an unfinished backup which causes the device to hang during the initial customization after hard reset (after soft reset it is ok though). But I don't want someone to use it and find that it freezes - especially if it is sent to warranty, or a secondhand buyer sees it like that. :)

i'm not too sure. as u said even the original ROM can't help u out, so i guess u've to send it back to repair centre.

Well if your device its not bricked, you don't need the use of any shipped rom, if you want an OS upgrade for your device i recommend the use of any cooked rom, they are better than any Original rom.

download this attachment and :
1. unzip to C: drive
2. keep the ruu_signed.nbh at C: drive
3. open command prompt (DOS)
4. from C:\ prompt, use "nbhextract ruu_signed.nbh" (without the quotes)

after this you'll get some output where you can see the CID/DID of the ROM.

if this shipped ROM is for your phone. it should be able to help you out. so, follow the instructions above to see if this matches with your CID/DID.

"how to dump ROM" will help you to dump the working ROM from a working phone. so thats a separate thing, not related to the issue with your phone.

Yes, it looks like you are correct on both questions. And I think my Rogers backup is the only one with all included (although not necessary, you really only need the OS and ExtROM if you want a custom ROM). I just made the full backup for warranty/selling purposes.

first i unlock uspl to v1 after that flash it into HTC_TOUCH_WWE_ME_2.20.456.1B at 2% process it restart and stuck in 3 color mode. i think to solve this problem is flash with original SHIPPED ROM, but i cant find match ROM for my elf. so can you help me to solve this problem , regards

Hi Folks,

I apparently forgot to CID unlock my device before trying to upgrade to a cooked ROM.
Now I'm stuck at the bootloader. Tried pretty much everything mentioned on all of the forums and topics but nothing seem to take me out of the bootloader.

Anyone who can help me putting up a dump of the original HTC Touch's Official ROM or may be further steps.

Any help is appreciated. I'm in desperate need.

You can only save your device if the official ROM has the same CID and Device ID as your phone's. You should have read the sticky thread at the top of the forum ("Avoid confusion and damages"!!), or go here:

Which provider is your phone from? Also, did you try the SnoopyPro method to get your CID? I'm not sure if it works if your device only boots to bootloader

I have only one screen "This operation will delete all your personal data and reset all settings etc ...."

I can not do anything !! nothing's happened... I have a frozen screen...No green or orange light

I changed the battery same situation always frozen screen

Unfortunatelly I've bricked my HTC Touch, and I'm in the need of an official ROM to unbrick it. Help me please :(

It's a German MDA Touch (Elf), and there was an Official GER ROM on it, before I've bricked it. It has TMOB-005 CID on it.

If anybody has an Official Rom Update for it, please help me.
