For the Elf you can find in a german forum an official rom update:

Yep, I know, and I've tried to done it before flash, but unfortunatelly there was a contact problem with the USB cable, and the unlock process didn't successed, I didn't recognized it, and the I've bricked :D

Anyway, thanks for your help as soon as I get home at the evening I'll try it and post the results.

It's an ELF0300 and it was German T-mobile as I said and it has TMOB-005

Yes, you have an elf.

Maybe make a USPL/IPL Update before:

follow these steps (for both Elf and Elfin):
1. hard reset the phone
2. install cert_spcs.cab
3. install enablerapi.cab
4. power off and power on (Don't reset with stylus)
5. remove SD card and SIM card
6. connect phone to PC, make sure Activesync is working
7. unzip USPL_2.28.0000.ZIP to C: drive
8. unzip IPL_2.27_USPL_2.28.ZIP
9. copy nbh file from IPL_2.27_USPL_2.28.ZIP and replace the nbh file in RUU folder of USPL_2.28.0000
10. run elf-uspl.exe and follow on-screen instructions

I can't because the device stay in tricolor bootloader, so I can't do anything else than flash an official rom to it, but I don't have any :mad::(

What is the Device ID and CID that you get from SnoopyPro?? Read the sticky thread at the top of the forum to get it.

Also, you can't unbrick using a dumped ROM. (Cyzeek, I think you need to make this clear in the first post - unless you have already done so ;))

What is the Device ID and CID that you get from SnoopyPro?? Read the sticky thread at the top of the forum to get it.

Also, you can't unbrick using a dumped ROM. (Cyzeek, I think you need to make this clear in the first post - unless you have already done so ;))

I think somebody else with a bricked device should try, but this is only a EXT_ROM upgrade, i don't know waird thinks sometimes happen.

I should post it at the the first page.

Its because its not a complete ROM, its only an EXT_ROM update less than 10mb, and a complete ROM its between 50-90 mb. So may be now you have a clue.

Well that 19% on that 10mb update represents 3% on a complete rom.

Ok I understand for 19%. Thanks for your explication. But something else that i don't understand, why he can flash his dead device with only one EXT ROM, ok he put the .nbh in the shipped ROM but he flashed it with hte EXT ROM nbh file and he revived his phone like ?

Yes you are correct - you have a dump/backup of your ROM.

But to unbrick someone's device they need a signed (shipped) ROM. It's the same ROM but with HTC's signatures in the SPL part.

The dump is useful however if someone wants to restore their device back to their original stock ROM.

after having spent hours on hours reading posts I'm no closer to Reviving my ELF, I update the ROM from the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426540 article.
My phone was to slow so I decided to restore it to the original ROM. The flash process did not report any errors and reported the flash back to the original rom (backup made from the phone). However the phone is now as dead a door nail!. It will not boot, it will not enter the tricolor screen. I tried hard reset and all the other options listed on ELF reset but nothing has helped so far. Below is my DEVICE INFO any help would be greatly appreciated.

What did you do to get it stuck? I am assuming you have USPL 2.28. You can update your IPL to 2.27 and then flash a new ROM from bootloader.

What did you do to get it stuck? I am assuming you have USPL 2.28. You can update your IPL to 2.27 and then flash a new ROM from bootloader.
I have update SPL from 2.20 to 2.28 ,than has installed not original ROM.It was not pleasant to me also I wished to return old ROM.

Hi there!
I'm new around here. My friend just crashed his HTC and i tried to revive it. I managed to power on with some hot air :D to OMAP MCU but, it was stacked in Smart Mobility screen :mad:. I make a hard reset and : voila ;) , the XDA it is alive. I tried to find rom for this version without success. After i managed to started again i make a dumped rom for those who want this. Does not include external rom because of the damage , maybe! can't be readed! It is locked cid (FF)!. NOT TESTED!!! Use at your own risk!
Maybe it is still damaged from the mechanical shock: ROM version not readed!!! and External Rom as well

If you have found the rom with the same did, but not the same cid, just change the cid of the .nbh in the .exe with a hexeditor!

It is even mentioned in the first post that the "*" is a wildcard, which means that it will work for any Device ID with ELF0100?1 in it. Did you actually try the original unchanged? :rolleyes:

If you know someone with a WM device with a microSD slot, it is possible to get yours working again with goldcard method. There are already shipped Elf ROMs with that Device ID (doesn't have to be same CID). So it is possible with goldcard, although not entirely tested yet.

If you know someone with a WM device with a microSD slot, it is possible to get yours working again with goldcard method. There are already shipped Elf ROMs with that Device ID (doesn't have to be same CID). So it is possible with goldcard, although not entirely tested yet.

Its compatible, but that is only a EXT_ROM upgrade only, but may be, just may be could help you.

It is even mentioned in the first post that the "*" is a wildcard, which means that it will work for any Device ID with ELF0100?1 in it. Did you actually try the original unchanged? :rolleyes:

Go back to what you said. You do not indicate whether it was a shipped ROM or a dumped ROM, or if you flashed it from SD card or from PC. There were people afterwards who said it did NOT work. If you have a good idea don't make it confusing to everyone and give false hope by making a vague statement.


If you have found the rom with the same did, but not the same cid, just change the cid of the .nbh in the .exe with a hexeditor!

If it's an Elfin, you can unbrick it with Gold Card method, as there is a shipped ROM with ELF030050. Just search this forum for it, it is a new method for unbricking.

You came here making a statement that you can just change the CID and, voila, your device is unbricked. Your statement was wrong on two counts.. First of all, you actually changed the wildcard (not the actual operator or device string - totally different), and second of all it was the DEVICE ID, not the CID.

Also, a typical reader is not going to go back 20 posts to see what your problem was.. how are they to know it was a dumped ROM or shipped ROM? And YES you can flash a bricked device with an SD card depending on the circumstances.

Sure, if someone is here to help and not mislead people, feel free to call them whatever you like.. your decision. But be ready to back it up and don't resort to crude name-calling to discredit yourself. Anyways I apologize for being in a bad mood.

Hello there,
I tryied to upgrade the rom with a cooked one. Something went wrong. It was just switching on and off at the "smart mobility" screen.
So I tried to restore the phone in various uncessfull ways. Now it is stuck at the "file is corrupted" message, no matter which rom I try to put.

If g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel=0 => Touch=CID_Unlocked => Able to flash any ROM or Radio Update through Bootloader
g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel=FF => Touch=CID_Locked => Try CID_Unlocking again BEFORE flashing anything

for unlocking try goldcard, i have unbricked my elfin ;)

Correction -- A backed up ROM is not a shipped ROM. It is a dumped ROM.

Shipped ROMs have the HTC signatures which we do not know how to create yet. They are the only ROMs that can unbrick a device; a dumped ROM cannot unbrick.

Man... You got yourself a problem... Unless you find the original rom for your device... I had the same problem you do... The solution was sending it to HTC technical assistance since the original rom for my device is not available anywhere... Lucky me they thought it was a "bug" and they updated the rom for me... What a relief!!!

Download a shipped ROM with Device ID ELF030050 and use the Elf Gold Card method. It should work.

There are a lot of shipped ROMs that have this Model ID..

Look for ELF0100*0 or ELF010050 shipped ROMs and then use Gold Card method. You don't need to care about CID.

No, IPL/SPL shouldn't make a difference because a shipped ROM overwrites everything including those two.

Just go to your electronics store (e.g. Best Buy), buy a WM Device with a MicroSD slot, run the Gold Card.... and return it when you're done ;-)

Make sure they have a 100% refund policy though :)

Don't worry about it then. Sorry for any hassle. One of the elf0diag.nbh that you had posted changed my Model ID to ELF010100 ;-) so it's no longer ELF010150!

Ok, so with your ROM, it can be flashed to ANY ELF/ELFIN device, because it has wildcard for Model ID and CID.

After it is flashed, you cannot flash a cooked ROM (because currently you don't have USPL, only SPL). The white screen method does not work either ('Not in use' displays on the Penguin screen). BUT you can flash ANY shipped ROM because the device's SPL is now wildcard!

Then, when you have another shipped ROM flashed you can do the white screen method to flash whatever you want.

I can't retrieve Model ID and Cid because those data are still corrupted i tried with mtty and snoopypro but nothing.
Mtty command getdevinfo retourn to me GetDeviceCid: Error - InitDecoder
and CID and ModelId are missing in snoopypro log

Hmm.. if your data blocks are corrupted then there's no way you can flash anything to it.

I currently have a shipped ROM on my device and I cannot flash it by RUU from the bootloader or from the operating system.

Haven't tried with a cooked ROM though.

I guess it can only be flashed by SD card?

Download a shipped ROM with Device ID ELF030050 and use the Elf Gold Card method. It should work.
