Thats not true, it worked for me with IPL 3.10.0002 and USPL 3.10.0000 also.
It just downgrades it...

That's not true.. worked for my Elfin with IPL/SPL 2.27/2.28 .. as already noted in the first post of that Unbricker thread.

This is a ROM that can potentially overwrite and/or unbrick a device with an original (non-patched) SPL. It has a wildcard for Model ID (ELF0*****) and CID (11111111).
I have tested it with an original CID-locked SPL and it overwrote it and flashed a new generic HTC ROM with the following:

* IPL 2.11.1002
* SPL 2.11.1000 MFG
* ROM version: 2.11.0. WWE
* ROM date: 08/14/07
* Radio: 02.98.90
* CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2)


Here are the steps to make it work:

1. Download this ROM from the link above
2. Rename the file to ELF0IMG.nbh (that's a zero, not an 'oh')
3. Format your microSD to FAT32 and then copy ELF0IMG.nbh to it
4. Put the card into your bricked Elf.
5. Start your bricked Elf in bootloader mode (hold down camera button and reset)
6. Device should start flashing the test-only ROM
7. NOTE: If the device flashed successfully but is now stuck at the new boot screen, you are still ok. Now you can flash ANY shipped ROM at the bootloader (if you have an Elfin, flash only an Elfin shipped ROM) and your device will be running again.
8. NOTE: If the flashing from SD doesn't work, then you might be able to flash it from the ROMUpdateUtility.exe on your PC. Just put the unbricker NBH file in the RUU directory and remove any other NBH files in there before you run it.

Follow the sticky entitled "Avoid Confusion - Answers, Guides, etc." <-- very self-explanatory.

Then find the link to the troubleshooting guide.

Find out your CID and Model ID, and then use Gold Card method to unbrick.

You don't need another WM Device.. just try the Unbricker ROM by itself, as mentioned in that same Wiki.

No, don't do something stupid like supplying extra power and blowing up your device and killing yourself - just return it the way it is.

Why are you unable to get the CID and Model ID? How did you brick it?

Buy a WM device, use the microSD slot, try the Gold Card method and then return it.

I did try that, a few times but iam not able to use it.... last time when the goldcard worked i could flash the image from the SD card... Now i cant... he boots, checking SD after 30 seconds i see the tricolor screen once again.////

i found that one, but i also found a WM phone (hurricane) but it has a MINI sd card ... but i have a Micro SD card.... have to wait for any other wm phone with Microsd card

If you have bricked yours, go to the following site:

Enter your phones serial number, and download the file, flash it, that might recover your device, let me know if it worked for you, if it does it means we are able to recover elf03000 t-mob005 devices using the rom from there, however you will have to flash back a rom that you like once your device is recovered, this is all under the assumption that device is bricked.....

This is a ROM that can potentially overwrite and/or unbrick a device with an original (non-patched) SPL. It has a wildcard for Model ID (ELF0*****) and CID (11111111).
I have tested it with an original CID-locked SPL and it overwrote it and flashed a new generic HTC ROM with the following:

* IPL 2.11.1002
* SPL 2.11.1000 MFG
* ROM version: 2.11.0. WWE
* ROM date: 08/14/07
* Radio: 02.98.90
* CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2)


Here are the steps to make it work:

1. Download this ROM from the link above
2. Rename the file to ELF0IMG.nbh (that's a zero, not an 'oh')
3. Format your microSD to FAT32 and then copy ELF0IMG.nbh to it
4. Put the card into your bricked Elf.
5. Start your bricked Elf in bootloader mode (hold down camera button and reset)
6. Device should start flashing the test-only ROM
7. NOTE: If the device flashed successfully but is now stuck at the new boot screen, you are still ok. Now you can flash ANY shipped ROM at the bootloader (if you have an Elfin, flash only an Elfin shipped ROM) and your device will be running again.
8. NOTE: If the flashing from SD doesn't work, then you might be able to flash it from the ROMUpdateUtility.exe on your PC. Just put the unbricker NBH file in the RUU directory and remove any other NBH files in there before you run it.

your dump ROM woks verry fine on my device.

Only thing I noticed yet is some difference in the Network Wizard.
I can only choose Asian regions or Australia.
This might not be a problem for you, and as well no serious problem for me.

Dear All,

I've updated my HTC Touch with Onyx WM 6.1 and let me tell u that before this my phone reboots again and again. so i thought to upgrade the rom. Alas i couldn't take the backup to my Original ROM with WM 6.0. Although the Onyx interface is simple good looking and responsive comparative to the old interface with WM 6.0. But still the problem is the same that when i recieve the call it reboots. Also i've observed that Whenever i connect to the GPRS/EDGE it reboots after some time provided the status of the battery is more than 80%.

P/S : I think the main matter is : You have to find the RIGHT ship ROM for your device. When my ELF worked properly, device_info showed its CID ELF010000 and HTC__A07, but, when It was bricked, I used SnoopyPro and it showed that CID : ELF 011000 and DOPOD701 (!!!) So different ! Be careful with Device_info :(

I was stupid to do this. I updated it to wm6.5. I don't recollect if it was an elf image. I am pretty sure it was the onyx 5.2. Now the damage is done. The device turns on for a few seconds shows smart mobility and then goes blank. A few attempts to get into the boot loader will get me to the screen below.

Mtty does not work for me in this mode.
i tried the other tool usbsnoop to find it. There is no connection to it even when I have connected to the usb (port on the motherboard). I think the gold card is an issue. I do not understand how to make on since I do not have another WINMO phone. I created the gold image it was 384 kb and saved it to the desktop using the save to folder option. I have an sd card and cant find the serial for it to write to it. I am not sure if it needs to be in a phone for the serial number.

Its my friends phone. It is quite messed up as it had gotten soaked in the rains. Now that its dry the screen shows some oily colours inside the touch film. I will get it changed though since its not wroking. I hope it will work post that. But I can send it to a repair guy only if I can repair the firmware. I even have the repair manual. I renamed the files i found to the ELF0IMG.nbh and tried to writ the image back to the device. I feel as if the device is bricked.
Please let me know if there is anything anyone can help me with here.

Correct.. I've tried using 2 version from 4 version available and it worked fine. Currently I'm using Onyx Ultime 4.8 with WM 6.1 :)

I read some where that if I m find some ROM having same Device ID and CID, then I can skip the step of taking backup ROM,
If this is true I can go ahead otherwise I have to stay halt, till my USB connection problem is getting resolved.

My this post having the four diff versions, which are having the same Device ID and CID as my device. so I guess, I can skip this step.

Hey the elfin got flashed with the wrong stuff. I tried the gold card. Nothing working here. Mtty doesnt connect. usb sniffer cannot detect it. No usb connectivity in the boot loader is shown. Do i need the JTAG thing .. If yes then any one has any idea on how to build a jtag or where i can get this fixed? The device blinks the orange light. Its as if its restarting in a loop. If i press the camera it takes me to the boot loader. Guys dont tell me that i can try the MTTY here. I have tried it. Its not working. I got back and formatted to xpp32 assuming it may be my windows 7 x64. Still no go. I need help.

do you no the original device id if search for the original rom should in this forum not a dumped rom the original rom if you have it format the sd card make sure you back everything up first format it fat32 and place image on there then start in bootloader it then should search for an nbh file and hopefully wil be revived. ps never done this so better check with mod on this

I was stupid to do this. I updated it to wm6.5. I don't recollect if it was an elf image. I am pretty sure it was the onyx 5.2. Now the damage is done. The device turns on for a few seconds shows smart mobility and then goes blank. A few attempts to get into the boot loader will get me to the screen below.

Mtty does not work for me in this mode.
i tried the other tool usbsnoop to find it. There is no connection to it even when I have connected to the usb (port on the motherboard). I think the gold card is an issue. I do not understand how to make on since I do not have another WINMO phone. I created the gold image it was 384 kb and saved it to the desktop using the save to folder option. I have an sd card and cant find the serial for it to write to it. I am not sure if it needs to be in a phone for the serial number.

Its my friends phone. It is quite messed up as it had gotten soaked in the rains. Now that its dry the screen shows some oily colours inside the touch film. I will get it changed though since its not wroking. I hope it will work post that. But I can send it to a repair guy only if I can repair the firmware. I even have the repair manual. I renamed the files i found to the ELF0IMG.nbh and tried to writ the image back to the device. I feel as if the device is bricked.
Please let me know if there is anything anyone can help me with here.

each time i have the nbh with the name it should have on the card it asks me to press power. Each time i press power the boot loader screen come up. The device is not detected on USB not in windows, mac or even when I boot and the bios does a low level search. I think someone needs to help me know how i can get the rom re written directly. JTAG it if needed, JTAG is something i heard we can do. But i dont know how to or where to do it from.

sad part was..
when i insterted the gold card into a samsung cdma phone.. (it has a qualcom chip as well) it directly went to the boot mode awaiting a firmware update.. i restarted the phone without the microsd and it was back. so i think its not the card.. its the elfin..

Guys the easiset thing i did was just plain amazing.
i downloaded that zip file.
Extracted the ELFIN_USPL_v1.nbh.orig and renamed this file to ELF0IMG.NBH. It is 1 MB in size. Then held the camera key as it went to that painful unresponsive bootloader. It asked me to press the power key to update the image as usual. I felt my heart sink but as I said "to Hell with it" and bingo.. it was flashed. A hard SPL.

Now the IPL is 2.20.0002 and THe SPL got updated from 1.11.0000 to 2.20.0000.

Its paining me now with the repeat of the align screen window . Its ok, atleast it looks alive. I will flash it to 6.1

before flashing my mobile to dsixda rom, I took a backup. The files are with extensions .nb and .nbh.

Now, how should I flash back these .nbh?

In every custom rom, I found 2 files, one is a customruu.exe and another is ruu_signed.nbh

should I delete the .nbh file and put my original .nbh file and execute the exe?

Hi. I have an Elf and I tried to instal an original rom from here. Before this my phone worked perfect, I could instal any Rom, use any SIM. After flashing it my phone is CID locked, i can't instal any Rom, I can't change USPL, nothing. Just bootscreen. Also I don't have any rom, because that Rom wich I tried to instal, after it changed my USPL, gave me error "invalid vendor". My model is ELF10000 and CID is HTC__304. What shoud I do now? Are you trying to unbrick your device? There may be shipped ROMs available that match your Device ID (e.g. ELF010050, ELF010*50, ELF0100*0, etc.), so you can use those for the Gold Card unbricker.

Hi to all!

I have problem with flashing my elf,i think flashed my elf with elfin rom,now the device stuck on T-Mobile white screen(before downgrade rom it was smart mobility screen).
I tried to re-flash by bootloader,but after the flashing it stuck again.So i bricked the device so i need help.

1)how to know what id device if the pc not recognize the device(htc elf)?
2)how to revive the device?
