You need to backup your contacts separately, I understand that all data is wiped when a new ROM is added (except on Polaris with a custom ROMUpdateUtility.exe)

I really don't know if this will help pr make matters worse. I read in one of the threads that the USPL unlocker phase three can be run on its own (ROMUpdateUtility.exe in the RUU sub folder). Please don't blame me if it frells your handset up royally.

No problem, thanks for letting me know. I flashed to Blue Elves later, and all is well again. Probably a good idea to wait for someone to dump a better load (although I tried someone else's too, with the same outcome). Or wait for a new Official 6.1 ROM for it.

Yes i know ... and the name of the file said "Ara" but.... when i take a look inside the the rom to find the Device & Cid, etc... it shows USA as a lenguage. Kokotas, have you made sure you used a signed ELFin ROM for the template (instead of an ELF ROM)? If so, then the backup should work. Otherwise you can risk having a brick after restore.

Well, I'm not saying it will malfunction 100%, it just might work..
I had used a signed Elf ROM template for my Elfin backup, and it caused a soft reset on my device whenever I put it into standby mode... So I had to use an Elfin template. Did Cyzeek test it? Sometimes he runs it on his spare Touch.

That's an awesome idea, I was thinking of doing the same thing.. you would get quite a bit of interest in that.

Just don't include extra files like your own dump directory. And don't include the signed NBH file; have the user download their own preferred signed Elf/Elfin rom. This will save filesize and also extra trouble.

Go to Settings->Device Information, and then go to the Hardware tab.
What does it say for RAM size and Flash size? If it's 128/256 then it's an Elfin.

I have tested your ROM:

I did flash on a test device (Elfin, yes elfin, not elf) and its working, but i dont know if its because its an elf rom, device restarts when stand by.

dsixda had the same problem with his dump, so may be you can contact him asking for help.

I will apreciate if you remove the link to your rom file, till you get a working one.

Well if you found your original ROM, it does not matters, the ROM will restore your device as it was boxed.

Nobody recommends install an original ROM that is not for your device, could be bricked, if you want to install a "Customized" rom you dont need an original one. There are many customized ROMS, just do a search.

You dont say if your device is an Elfin (256/128) or an Elf (128/64).

That info is very useful when your device is dead or bricked.

Im not recomend you the use of an original rom different of that for your specific device, you could brick your device. Do a cid unlock and try any other cooked rom, u will see a gr8 difference from an orginal one.

Correct!, just to be more specific, when you do the MTTY process find this line:

g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel

Then:

g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel = FF : means that your device is cid locked
g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel = 00 : Means that your device is cid unlocked

I need ROM for my device, but it isn't here. I can't found it. Help with searching...

Correct!, just to be more specific, when you do the MTTY process find this line:

g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel

Then:

g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel = FF : means that your device is cid locked
g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel = 00 : Means that your device is cid unlocked

Ok, well its risky flash an original rom most if you dont have your original rom, an original rom makes your device cid unlocked again, so if your flash process wasn't succesful you have a big chance to brick your device, because you can't make USPL process from bootloader mode, the only way its find your original rom (NOT DUMPED ROM). Or pay for support.

I didnt notice and i tried to run ((Artemis_Touch_Vanilla_4.02.zip)) this ROM on HTC touch and its got stuck on HTC logo screen and says OS 3.13.0.0 .... Please help me... i have tried to restart and tried what ever possible but nothing is working it comes back to same screen...Please help ...please

the thing is it does not go the three color screen...it straight comes to the HTC logo screen and then in about 3 or 4 seconds comes OS 3.13.0.0 and then thats it its on the screen for ever....I cant click on anything its does not even restart with the power button on top...i can reset or take out the battery to shut down.....what do i do now...please help me

Have you try to get your Device ID and CID id, may be flashing your original rom could solve your problem.

I'm guessing that means its 128/256 and ELF010150, and being Rogers branded the CID would be ROGER001

Also, do I have to CID unlock before flashing?

You can flash dumped roms only if your device is Cid Unlocked, if your device is not, contact your nearest HTC center or there is a guy who can help here at this forum to recover your device (first option is cheaper).

You can check if your device is locked following directions at this thread : LINK (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347700)

Check the following line:

g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel

= FF Means Cid Locked
= 00 Means Cid Unlocked

If FF, get some money to repair your device
If 00, flash any other cooked ROM to restore your device (AVOID ANY ORIGINAL ROM)

I've exactly the same problem as you. Tri-colour bootloader mode with these parameters:

I can pay for right solution using PayPal !!!


If your device is not CID unlocked (that was my case) you cant use dumped room or a cooked one. You should use the original rom provided by HTC or your carrier.
I had my elfin stucked in bootloader and I was not able to find the ROM for my device (ELF010050 CID BSTAR502) so I tried everything you can imagine to reborn my device and nothing works.
I sent my Elfin to service repair today to get it back to work. That's the price we pays to improve our devices. :D

So I think you should try to get it from Orange. If they dont provide and you cant find it over the internet, the service center will be the solution to have your elf/elfin back to work.

Read the first page of this tread, there are lots of original roms listed to download.

No you can't, because for a bricked device you need a certified rom (an original one, not dumped) that match you Device and CID ID.

As Cooked and Dumped roms are not certified you need a cid unlocked device first.

If find your original ROM its like if you buy a lifetime insurance, because you can recover your device in most of the cases, and you could be sure that your device will back at its original state, as it becomes out the box.

In the other hand, if you dont find your original/certified rom, and you need get back your device as it becomes, you could search out there for a dumped rom that match your device, and that its the nearest method to the orginal, keep in mind that your device has to be alive (not bricked) and already cid unlocked to do this.

To be honest, its very difficult to find a branded rom, if you see at the rom list there are only 2 original/certified roms for branded devices (O2 and T-Mobile).

There's two versions on the htc SERVER for that rom.

They are original and certified then how come they are "reduced".
Mayb if i dowlnoad one of them it will make more sense to me.

If your device is dead or bricked you can't upate to that rom, dumped roms does't revive dead devices. But.... if you want to try by your self: Download any original ROM (Any of those in the first post) Extract de content with WinRar to any Subdir Delete the RUU_Signed.nbh file from there Put your ita_rom_elfin.nbh, rename it to RUU_signed.nbh Finally just run the ROMUpdateutility.exe. See results. Good luck

CID status - 00 ----> you phone is cid unloked ,you can flash any rom you want.to get your phone in bootloader mode pres camera and power buttons at the same time and the pres(keep camera and power press) the soft reset buton with you stylus.the active sync does not see you phone but your pc see that the phone is connected with the usb.

Why an original ROM?

I really don't recomend an original ROM unless you have the orginal rom that match your device.

Once you flash your device with any original rom, your device will be cid locked again, if the process fail for any reason, would be difficult to restore your device with out your original rom.

Enter Bootloader mode (derections @ this wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_Resets)) then connect your USB cable, USB sign most appear at the Left bottom side of your screen. Now at this mode try to flash any "NON ORIGINAL ROM" from windows.

It's very important that you don't try to flash any orignal ROM it wil cause a CID LOCK device.

I need a ROm Original because my touch gave problems and had to bring in assistance, I had the Roma bigstorage, while I was the flash of an other Rom has blocked 3% and restar it.from that moment then stops on smart mobility The CID is blocked and can only enter into bootloader.
I want to restore to bring in assistance.

Oh ok, if you want your device back "like" a brand new. Use any dumped rom. these are like the original without EXT_ROM but there is nothing significant. Dificult to find the difference.

You could find a sort of that roms at the 1st page or try to make a dump from your device its easy.

i just spent 1 hour on the phone with a t-mobile operater and her non english speaking technitian. they said there is no way to get a rom for the elf030050 with cid lock of t-mob101 until later this year when a update comes out. i didnot tell them what i did to brick this device but i did tell them that i was trying to change the language on it and it crashed the technitian and the operator told me to return my phone to t-mobile with the contract and they will fix it for free. they also said this happens alot with wrong software installed on the phone so they are working on a update for it now. thanks and have great day
