Hello dears,

Please, my Touch died after a bad upgrade. Now, Im trying to revive it, but with no luck. It is showing only the operator logo.

All data that I know is:

I already tried to update with the following rom, but it didnt work:

I've this HTC Touch P3452 and i tried upgrading its radio but ended up bricking it. Now it boots up to 'smart mobility' and goes off. I have tried doing a hard reset and same thing happens.

Can someone plz provide me some steps to unbrick it ?? I am newbie and dont know what to do next..

I got and brand new HTC touch Yerterday i was planning to update the Windows to 6.1, soo i did everything i was supposed to do.

I did a complete backup of my phone
I dumped everything from my phone to my pc.
I did CID Unlock with elf-uspl.exe
Everything when perfect.

Soo I did load the new 6.1 windows and when i was on the bootloader it stoped at 3% and since then it doesnt boot anymore.

I did usb sniffing, mtty, i tryed the special rom, an original rom in french, and another 1000 stuff.

I would really appreciate some help. And i will reward who can help me.

I'm just wondering if there are any ways i can still revive my elf.. Here's the story..I had already flashed dsixda's Onyx Ultimate on it about a month ago and tried Onyx Ultimate beta just few days ago. But when i was trying to browse on the new IE with the zoom feature, my device froze up then restarted. It booted to the smart mobility screen but suddenly the screen went white and it stopped there.. I soft reset then everything went ok during the boot but i noticed the screen was flickering, faint stripes appear accross the screen every now and then. Everytime it flickers, the device also slows down.. I thought the problem was coming from the beta rom that i flashed so i decided to go back to the full ultimate version. Or is it? then after flashing it back, the flickering was still there. I did dump my original rom, but i think i failed to use a template from an official rom update when i was trying to make the image.. So in short i flashed back to the rom that i thought was correct, it went through a 100% during the flashing, but when the process was finished i thought it was going to restart but my device wasnt starting at all, not even powering up when i press the power button. I tried the elf resets but still nothing happens... What should I do. Is there still any slightest chance i can still revive my elf?.. Any help would be very much appreciated..

btw, I used the HTC Vogue Sprint Official Rom Update that i download from htc as a template for creating the dumped rom image. So i guess that's where i went wrong there? :( please help, thnx..

a follow up to my problem:

i followed dsixda's instructions on how to install onyx ultimate 4.2, used the instructions about the cid unlocking, installed the spl and ipl from his instructions, i dumped my rom, i still have those dump folder and raw images that was created.. flashed Onyx Ultimate 4.2 so i guess i did a job well done about that. only thing that i think i messed up was with creating the rom image from the dumped files because i think i used a wrong rom as a template.. forgot to write down all the information about my device.. Can I still create a rom from the dump files if i had a right template?. Anyways, that wouldn't matter if my device cannot be unbricked.. that's the first thing i need help with. Thanks..

HELP!

I first fallowed all the steps about how to flash 6.1 roms on the phone. It worked great but because of the lack of special letter (for my country) I wanted to flash back to the original rom that I dumped. I used the used the ROM update utility to flash it back and it worked. But when the phone reboots it just shows the smart mobility screen for some seconds and then shuts off, so I started to think that I've bricked the phone. So I read all the recovery threads and tested the methods without success... I try to flash to different roms but still get the same result; the smart mobility text and then it shuts off. What should I do? Is this a known problem?

And I just want to att that ut dosn't say "RUU" in the top right corner of my screen when I boot into the tri color bootloader. Is this maybe the problem? I used the method mentioned by TS but without success.

Sorry if this is a repost but I've used the search function without success. Don't really know what to look for, need a hint.

Hi All, I bricked my elf the other day while flashing Onyx.
The phone now keeps restarting on the "Smart Mobility" screen just the way its described on the first post.
I've tried following the steps mentioned in the first couple of posts however hit a roadblock trying to figure out the CID and the Device ID.
The log from snoopy does not contain any of the above info.
Besides that everything seemed to go the way its described on this thread.
Help needed please!!!!!!!!!!!

a relative of mine gave me an elf and he said it was dead. he said he didnt do anything he installed skype on it and then the phone crashed.
the problem is when switched on the phone starts in a sky blue windows mobile screen and thats all, you cant turn it off if restarted the same screen appears, try to do a hard reset nothing happens the phone just resets in this screen , try to enter boot loader the same thing. tried connecting the device to my pc , it doesnt recognise it at all , just the device starts to charge.

First of all I really hope anybody can help with this. A few day ago I was trying to SIM Unlock device but I couldn't with the code provided by free solutions. I don't want to enlarge this post so I tried "doctest" command in MTTY console, then my Touch have a lot of problems (I RECOMMEND NEVER USE DOCTEST!!!!). A good point is that Elfin is CID unlocked, I can try "lnbs" or "ls" commands to revive her. I found these threads I think they are helpful:

hi, tough problem but possibly solvable, I saw your PM, and replied to it.

the athena solution is athena specific though. elf needs different bin file and different way to flash it

I'm thinking about two options:
1 restore MODEL ID and CID block from a .bin
2 go back to USPL (2.20 by pof), that way I can flash unbricker rom because USPL doesn't check MODEL ID. I don't know how to create a .bin file to use with lnbs or ls command. Maybe I can use .nbh or .nb???

Giving an advice: People that had problems when flashing SPL/IPL, I think is the end of their devices (maybe jtagging but is difficult to get adecuate cable, know right contacts and get adecuate dump, and other kind of dirty jobs jeje). When flashing SPL/IPL, phone is alive because RAM is acting, but if there is a bad flash, then when phone shut down, you know ---> damn!!!. I recommend be very careful with this point, all other problems maybe has solutions.

it's actually unlikely that the spl would flash in a bad way, htc has some checks in place to avoid that

but of course you never know :)

my philosophy is as long as the device will boot to bootloader it can be unbricked (assuming no serious hardware fault, for example at least USB connection and/or SD slot have to be accessible)

First you need to be more specific. Tell about if when you turn on your dev, you get bootloader, or splash and then reboot or power off automatically. You should search an original rom with that characteristics (DEVICE ID: ELF010000, CID ID: HTC__002). You also can try "unbricker rom": http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446242 . Probably you will need use gold card: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_GoldCard or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437996 .

Well, as I said, if you don't find original rom, try with unbricker rom; if not, try with gold card method. Most probably with gold card you will be able to solve your problem.

I tried to update my Elfin (3452)
In two times works fine, but I don't save the original Rom
Looking in his forum I found a Brazilian Rom
I save update this rom in my Elfin, after this my cell appears only the Initial screen from de Operator service ( CLARO )
After this fact I remenber my Elfin is GSM and the rom that used is CDMA
I think the problem is this diferent ROM.
In the 3 colors mode I cannot update any rom because my CID is locked (FF)
I've got backup rom from another Elfin Friend with the same Operator (claro)
But again don't work
With the flash card upgrade don't work too.... I created the ELF0IMG.NBH in the flash card but when I start the Elfin in 3 color, no appears any option...
Someone can help me ?

With the help of your posts i was able to extrect the Model ID: ELF010150 and CID: ROGER001. However when ever I tried to update the orignal rogers rom (found on the forum) it also fails even after several retrys with the error 270 (corrupt image).

Note: g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel is set to FF

Please could anyone help me out of this?
Do I use the wrong image or why does he report that error?

Would be very glad to get any suggestions!

Yes i did the CID unlocking before i went for the update but fortunately my friend was able to revive the phone he is not sure how he did that but he use the gold card method plus some testing Rom from HTC

Were you able to remove the CID lock ?

I have and elf, the device is not turning on, even when i try to go to bootloader it wont do anything, but when i connect it to usb cable and hold down the camera key the threecolor screen will boot up, i have tried the original rom but when it starts to flashing at 1% point it will goes blank and nothing happens and i should hold camera key to go to threecolor screen !
i have tried mtty and reset the device but still the only thing i see is this threecolor screen !
What should i do ??

read the FAQs properly and start with the step 1 as instructed on the FAQs- not your step 1!
Re-Flashing straight from your PC wont work coz it needs to be connected through activesync. Follow the steps serially as instructed it Surely Should help!

I think i bricked theHTC fuze that i bought yesterday :( I tried to do the Hard SPL but i was getting an error message, error 244 invalid model ID so i used a program to change the .nbh (a radio file) file so it bypassed the error message. I even got a message that the process was successfully finished but it turned out not to be true because the screen went black and now i cant turn it on, and i cant even get it into the bootloader mode. If i could at least get it into to tricolor screen i would be able to flash back the original radio and that would solve the problem because ive already done it a few times. Please let me know if there is a chance for it to be fixed.

you have to use the original ROM one more time and connect the active sync and use CID unlock kit in this forums.....then you have able to install the user created roms....

What was my mistake?

Before I upgraded, I've dumped my ROM. using the utilities as mentioned here : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_HowtoDumpRom

I made two backup :

* One backup with the OS and ExtROM only (for others to use)
* And another backup with everything included (for yourself only, for warranty or selling purposes).

After that, seems everything to be Okay, and then I did as mentioned in this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445666

and then I flash Onyx Ultimate 4.8. And, I did it!!!

But then, when the device reboot, I saw a thin horisontal line on the top of the LCD. As I worried about my device, then I decided to go back to original ROM.

this is to flash any SPL: either update to hardspl this way or flash another spl over hardspl. (copied from other post)
0. make sure your device is synced to activesync!!
1. Run the elf-uspl.exe from ELF_USPL_2.26.0000.zip
2. Watch Screen and Press Enter When Asked.
3. Screen should Jump to White on Phone and on PC Flashing Loading Bar will Show.
4. Stuck in Black Ducky Loading Screen?, check Active Sync Connection or Do a hard reset on Phone first. But be sure to do the last Actual Flashing in White Screen. Sometimes this needs a few tries to go through white screen.
5. Done.

And I overwrite the .nbh file with the Complete ROM that I have dumped before.
Everything seems to be Okay, it uploaded 100%, then the disaster happened !!!!

The device went off, and it never get on again. Until now. I've tried many ways to make it On :
1. Remove the battery, and then plug it again, turn the power ON, and it still go off.
2. Remove the battery, plug in charger with no battery, try to power ON, still off.
3 Remove the battery, plug in the charger with no battery, push the camera button and reset button on the same time, nothing happened.

Please help me, I really frustated here :( What was my activity that could cause a damage to my Elf?
I've tried a repair man and he said that there's no J-Tag to turn on my P3450, I must change the machine to the new one.

Hi,

I'm not trying to flash my rom or do anything fancy, just trying to use my Elf as a compact mobile calendar basically.

But recently if I switch it off, when I switch it on again, I just get the blue Windows Mobile screen.

I've tried to enter 'bootloader' following the instructions here (camera + stylus-reset) while the Elf is on and working, I get the Blue screen then it reboots and goes back into working mode again.

The problem only happens if I turn the thing off and then want to turn it on again. So long as it's on, it's fine. When it's off, even hard-reset doesn't work (stylus + red/green buttons) - just the screen goes black, then I get that blue screen again.

Only way to turn it off when I get that is to take the battery out.

Help please???

too many times flashing Wm6.5 ROM somtimes make ur device behave strange.

1. Try to find OFFICIAL ROM.
2. Get the Hybrid Kitchen and pictorial from ayyu3m and install it in drive C: (main drive where ur OS Installed)
3. follow the step to COOK
4. when finished, u will have a STRIPPED OFFICIAL ROM without IPL n SPL inside. so.. u can Flash it to ur HARD SPL-ed device.
5. do a HARD RESET when it comes to the ALIGN SCREEN and then let it boot and finished the customisation.

6. there.. u can flash any WM6.5 ROM again.

actually it stops at tap screen that is after windows logo if i bypass that stage,by creating WELCOME.NOT folder in sd card ,the official/customs can be flashed.i can use hard buttons device works,the problm is with touch response it seems.because it happened a month ago.after many tries by pressing screen it recovered and touch response was very good.but all of a sudden screen stopped responding.so could it be due to digitizer of screen???and if that is dead than how did it reovered on earlier occation??

looks like a wrongly flashed motherboard to me.

All u need is just make ur IPL=SPL.
i mean.. if ur SPL is 2.28, then just update ur IPL to 2.28 too. then ur "BRAND NEW" motherboard will be usable.

I have tried to flesh my ELF with a customized ROM and after 3 attempt its get loaded with 100% (success message) after then my PDA is not booting / no indicator light are glowing.

What exactly I have done...!
Taken a EXT ROM of “ruu_elfin_htc_dan_2.20.403.1b_4.1.13.51_03.07.90_ blue_ship.exe” and edited with “TFAT_Image_Editor_1.2.0.14” tool and added the below CABs files.

I had been a happy Elf user with Onyx Jr (wm61) for months, until I tested 6.5r8 (wm65) and had frustrating problems (system hangs, self-restart, etc). Now, I reverted back to 4.8 but still experienced the same problems... These all happened in IPL (3.14.0002) and HSPL (3.07.cmonex).

Since then, I tried all OEM roms for my Device ID (ELF010000) and CID (DOPOD001) in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379034, but none can rectify the problems...

Based on my research, I think it is related to the wm65 upgrade, and for some reason, some settings stayed even after the reflash. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Now, dear XDA experts, before I ditch the Elf to go for an Iphone, please help. Many thanks!

my problem is that I have too a three colour ssreen in my HTC touch ELFIN, with no RUU on the top right, the IPL 2.20.0002, SPL 1.11.0000 and in the bottom a USB. I downloaded the the Mtty, disabled the ActiveSync according to your instructions but cannot use the USB port. I have a Com3, a com4 .. and a Com6.
The next doubt is the point 5), I do not get the window.

Can you help me to solve my problem?

I know this has probabaly been posted loads of times in this sites history, however, I have used the search feature as much as I can, and have not managed to find information that helps me out.

I have got (what is apparently according to Service Centre) a HTC T-Mobile MDA Touch XL - or, to normal people, an ELFin?

I do not know the history of the device, what has happened, or how it has come into its current state.

The device does not turn on, however, it does happily charge batteries, albeit, without a nice red glow at the top.

I have tried the hard reset combinations, and this has had no success. There appear to be no signs of water ingress, that I can see. Everything seems normal from the outside.

I want to avoid sending this off to the service centre, a) i would like to try to fix it, b) they will charge me stupid amounts!

Has anyone managed to fix a device themselves from the same state? Or, are there people around that beat the price of websites, and HTC Service Centre.

Again, Sorry to post what would clearly be an Age old Problem, however, I am looking for an answer and have not managed to find one myself.

Edit: I have not tried the Gold Card yet as I do not have an sd card avaliable, although I think I would have to use the unbricker rom as I currently do not have the CID etc to pick a rom for it. From my understanding though, this isn't even an option as I can not get into bootloader?

Can a black screen (as in, not functional) be the result of something which went wrong during a flash?
I received a device from someone I know. I don't really know the history.
I updated the HTC Touch with the firmware given to me by the HTC site. I think the device boots, it sometimes makes the Windows Mobile "Alert" sound and if I connect it to my PC, Windows Mobile Device center recognizes it.

So is the screen completely broken or did the previous owner did something wrong during the flashing ?

I m new to this forum so plz be patient :p

I have a p3600 phone which originally came to me with WM5.I flashed it with a rom [gelly 01 greek] and it worked pretty sweet.Then I noticed that sometimes no button was working except the green one (receive) and the power off/on button.This problem could only be solved if I was turning the phone off and on again.The problem continued and I was bored of that off and on over and over again.

Then I made the worst decision ever:I tried to reflash it with the same rom.Sm went wrong and now I m stuck with a phone which stays on the smart mobilities screen.I tried everything in this thread but nothing happened...

first of all The windows mobile device center doesnt recognize it but my pc sees the phone and reports it as an htc usb sync device.When i try to flash it again the rom utility doesnt sees it..Also I have a problem with mtty as it seems in the drop down menu i cant change it to usb.only com1 & com2 are the available options.instead of this i tried nuTTy console and it seemed that it works...

any ideas?how can i save it?

I have the same problem. A friend of mine has tried to CID unlocking it and it suddenly died. i don't know what he did exactly but I tried with goldcard.img and still ho success.
I am sure about the Micro SD card CID ID because tried more than one. I get the same number wit Ubuntu and under windows and ActiveSync.

the device is from Austria ELF010050 the CID ID has to be T-MOB102 or HTC__102,
because these are the 2 Mobile operators selling the devices in Austria.
tried with the Swiss one HTC__102 - didn't passed.

I am already 24 or more hours searching for solution but still no luck

Is there a way to use nbl with the same DEVICE ID number(for example the swiss one) and change the CID ID with a hex editor?

I found my DEVICE ID:ELF010050 and CID ID:HTC__102 but I am not sure if this was the original one. Seems that somebody before has tried to change something because when I try to flash with these DEVICE and CID ID i get an 270 Error.

I wonder if there is a difference in the different ROM files in the same language GER. I fond several ROMS with the same DEVICE and CID ID's from Austria Germany and Swiss but always get 270 error when try to flash.

If someone can help me I would appreciate it

Have an MDA touch 128 256
Have used custom rom Blue Elves V5 WM 6.1
This worked perfectly
After holidays I tried another custom rom, and another but kept having the error message Image corrupt.
ther tthread lerned that device prob was not CID unlocked.
The Blue Elves V5 is supposed to do that, but I presume that is not something like a one off, meaning the next flashing for another ROM needs another CID unlock (so once unlocked allways unlocked??
But being not to bright I ran the CID unlock facility. Everything ran as planned.
Took the phone of the pc and ....... end of story.= dutch)
I get the dutch t-mobile splash screen for about 5 sec than encounter a black screen.
Tried to flash from SD, but (FAT formatted only blue elves ngh file on it)
but only a tine message flashes by stating searching for sd card and then stuck at bootloader screen.

by mistake i killed mine.. have a T-Mobile HTC HD 2 and flashed a europeen ROM on it. Before that a flashed HSPL 3 and and Radio_Leo_2.15.50.14 and also an custom ROM with greek language wich all worked fine... than i had the bright idea to flash an original rom^^ and cause of beeing tired my brain blacked out and id didnt think that the original greek htc rom has a ...51... radio... so i^m %&"§$%§"

the device doesnt do anything... i cant get into boot loader nor hard reset nothing!!! this i what i flashed: _HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_ELL_1.66.482.1_Radio_Signed_15.30. 50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship

the flashing finished 100% i dont know if this makes any diference!

as there any solution besides j tagg riff box etc something i can do @ home maybe?!?!

Since you had HardSPL installed and the rom was flashed via usb I think that the HardSPL is still intact.
So if you finally get your HD2 in bootloader and flash a correct radio it should be ok I guess...
I know...From what you described the hard part is getting in bootloader!
Well, have you tried anything like this:
Remove your battery for more than 2 minutes - connect your pda to pc via usb and try to power up & enter bootloader and then re-install the battery...

My HTC Touch was CID unlocked , I've tried the Onyx 6.5.x ROM, everything went fine until i tried to turn off the device -> insert SD and SIM -> i turned on -> the "smart mobility" text appears , then the device turned off again, i've tried the bootloader screen, there's no RUU text there , so i follow the step , i pressed the reset button again and , BINGO , the "smart mobility" text appears , then the device turned off again, please help me, :(
