Would anyone here go from their Mogul to a BB Curve?
I'm asking this because my brother is considering it and I don't understand the psychology.
I'm a Kaiser user and I can't imagine going for a Curve. I was wondering if maybe other Sprint people could help me with the psychology on this.

I went from a HTC Tytn II to a curve, to another curve (color change) and then finally to the Mogul. The curve is an excellent phone, using proprietary software. I would say I like the Mogul more just because there's more software available. Also Blackberry plans are more expensive.
Curve Pros:
Lighter (A LOT lighter)
Battery (Lasts about 1.5x longer)
Better keyboard (but then again, that's opinionated)
3.5mm audio in
Curve Cons:
Less software available
Less customizable
Service plan more expensive
The curve I have sitting in my desk has been used for about 1 week. Would love to sell it.
Plan compare:
AT&T Curve (with GPS)- Voice (Starting at 39.99) + $39.99 for blackberry internet and 1500 SMS + tax and govt' fees = $90+ a month
T-Mobile Curve (Without GPS)- Voice (Starting at 29.99) + 39.99 for internet (and SMS?) + tax and gov't fees = $80+ a month
Sprint SERO- Voice (500 min, night starts at 7pm) + Unlimited SMS + Unlimited Internet EVDO Rev.A = $30 + tax = $37.67 a month for me in NYC
That's why I went from Curve to Mogul.

Makes sense. I'm not a curve fan myself. I'm all about PPC. I'll point my brother to the thread and your reply.

I was a Blackberry user for about 5 years. Comparing a Blackberry (any model) to a Mogul or other PPC phone is almost an apples to oranges comparison. They are VERY different.
If you want excellent performance, speed & reliability for emailing, text messaging, and phone operations - you should go with a Blackberry. Compared to a PPC device, it is a no-frills-rock-solid-get-the-job-done device.
The key word up there is "no frills". If you want to be able to customize the device, put on different apps for different things, tweak & hack - then go with a PPC. PPC's are "fun" - but honestly, as a person who needs to depend on their phone for calendar, email, texting and phone calls - the PPC (I have an Alltel PPC-6800) is just too unreliable and peforms inconsistently. It requires soft-resets regularly - and I'm running a nicely tweaked custom rom.
The Blackberry & the PPC devices simply are in two different classes. Think of it as a Windows PC versus Linux. Again, Windows has all sorts of little features and is pretty - but Linux get's the job done more efficiently and reliably.
Second - size. The curve is smaller & lighter. I really don't like carrying my brick of a phone around. I got this model, as opposed to the Touch, because of the slide out keyboard. Blackberry's have'em built in on their face - no sliding or "touching" required. You can control any Blackberry device with one hand quite easily. Not so with the PPC's. You can get good at coming close - but it's just not the same. For any of you who disagree with me - I hope you have had extensive experience with both devices. A week or two doesn't count. Blackberry's are much more intuitive in the controls department and easy to carry around.
I'd gladly trade my Alltel PPC-6800 for a high-end Blackberry or a Touch. At this point, GPS is cool and all - and there are other "cool factors" - but the reliability of the functionality simply is NOT there with any Windows Mobile device; not compared to Blackberry's propriatery OS.
Just my two cents. It depends on what your "needs" are, and what your "wants" are.
I'm actually banking on the 2nd or 3rd generation of the iPhone being "all that and a bag of chips" - definitely isn't there yet so I won't even consider one; we'll just have to wait and see....
