3g always trying to connect

hello, i just got the cruise.

i try to do a search but it always say i dont have enough characters

my problem is

the 3g icon is always trying to connect and i cna't figure out why..

is there a way just to select GSM? no 3g band at all?

please if any one knows.

What do you mean by trying to connect. Are you sure it's actually connecting and not just letting you know yo uare in a 3G coverage zone?

If you want to disable all 3G, then you can go to Settings | Phone | Band and set Network type to GSM. That will fix it to stay on Edge/GPRS/GSM.

But then it simply try to connect for data anywyas on 2.5G. You should try to find out what is trying to connect. Do you have a weather app that is syncing? An RSS reader that is retrieving news? Etc....Find that, disable that then it won';t matter if you are on 3G or not, it wont' try to establish a data connection.

It's probably the Weather section from the Today screen. You can turn auto-update off in the screen where you can select your city. There is a menu with the corresponding option.

or simply go to settings -> phone -> band -> select your network type: GSM
3G will no longer connect, and you can leave mail checking and weather updating on for Sync-connections or Wi-Fi
