I would have to say it is for emergency use only since cloning an ESN is highly ILLEGAL.

2 examples of this kind of emergency:
You are a Sprint customer and you have an older device, say a 6700 or Mogul, and you want to buy a Touch but do not want to extend your contract so you buy a new Touch on eBay only to find out that the ESN is bad or black listed or something like that. You are now royally PI$$ED because your new investment turns out to be a waste of your money and an expensive paperweight.
Another example of this coming into use: You already have a Touch with Sprint but you, like me, have the worst luck in existence and dropped your very expensive investment in the toilet while relieving yourself. You try as hard as you can to get it to work again but like I said, your luck sucks and the device just won't power back on. You buy a new Touch on eBay only to find out the ESN is bad and you got royally fu**ed by whoever sold you the phone because now you can't get a hold of this person and eBay won't do anything.This is when this comes in handy. Now you can clone your 6700, Mogul, or Touch's ESN to your new phone with the bad ESN so that now it has a good clean ESN. Be careful with this though. If Sprint ever found out you did this you could be prosecuted and lose your right to own a wireless phone for a long time, regardless of carrier.

The main reason anyone is going to want to do this is to steal other customer's ESNs and their phone number, and thus.... FREE CELL PHONE USAGE!!!

The other thing that happens, if you steal another person's ESN and phone number, you can receive all of the calls that are placed to their cell phone.

You are looking for that replacement phone (after you dropped yours and it hit the ground perfectly to snap the main board). You find a decent price on a Touch on eBay. After getting it, you realize how big an idot you were (buying a Sprint CDMA phone when your network is GSM). You figure, I'll give it to my wife who is on VZW. You go to the web page and enter the ESN...no luck. Call, no luck. Have them do the DMD thing...no luck here either. So then you figure it is your only option. Oh well, I can't bring myself to clone the ESN anyway. Guess I'll put it back on eBay and see if anyone else wants it.

I clone phones all the time with full legal permission. The myth that the phone will be flagged is false. I clone phones that belong to wanted fugitives, so I can monitor inbound phone calls and text messages. All I need is min , mdn, and esn. 9 out 10 times the mdn is the min.

was anyone able to do this? I tried this on my touch and it doesn't work. after using the command rtask c, then when opening up cdma workshop, i can't connect to the phone using any com port. i tried connecting with all 25 port, none of them worked. can anyone help here?

I cloned a touch to my moguls esn about a month ago and everything worked fine untill today. I only had one phone powered on at one time, never had both of them on at same time. today my data won't worked on my cloned touch but will work on my mogul. They both have the same settings. Any ideas whats going on?

I have a question about this.

I recently bought a HTC Sprint Touch Diamond, and so now I have a vogue sitting around. My g/f has MetroPCS (CDMA) and has a really beat phone, and I want to give her the Vogue.

The problem is MetroPCS will not open its network to PDA / PocketPC / Smartphones apparently. So if I cloned the ESN off her phone, and put that ESN on my old Vogue, would it work, or do I need the carrier configuration files (which there are none for MetroPCS).

2. Make sure you are on the correct COM settings. (see device manager if you are not sure which com)

Please correct me if I am wrong. Could this be used to make a phone call from my own phone, but have it show up as coming from a different phone?

A friend of mine has the iphone and found a program to do this and is convinced that only the iphone is capable of this feat. I would like to show him that this isn't true. Perhaps my reasoning is somewhat immature, but what the heck! :p

Finally was able to give this a try and actually got it working (huge steps for a NOOB very proud of myself..hahaha). I can make and receive calls fine. That all works. I can not get the internet to work. Keep getting the error 67. I am sure it is something with the username and password because I didn't change any of that on the phone just the esn.

Anyone have ideas that I can try to get this completely working? ANY help would be much appreciated. Just so you know what I did; I used the esn off my old razr (sprint) and put it on the touch (sprint). Like I said calls in and out work perfect just no internet.

My Sis has a Dying Metro phone... thing is on its last legs, speaker dead, screen dying. Was thinking of picking up a CDMA Touch on eb@y, but am worried about getting it flashed over /*not so much the flashing part, but getting Metro to accept the ESN since they don't officially support PDAs/PPCs*/. This got me to thinking the phone could be flashed over and then I might be able I could use the old ESN from the dying phone on the more usable HTC phone.

Any one give this a try? I might give it a whirl... if i can get reg-ed on the other site.

I was wondering if someone could help me out. I finally got a free minute to try and get the internet working on this phone and still nothing. Phone is working great using the donor ESN but no internet. Here is what I've got:

- Sprint Razr (donor ESN phone) and Sprint Touch (Had bad ESN now has Razr ESN).
- Have Data plan on my Account.
- Did the changes from the original post and phone works fine (can make and receive calls)
- When I try and connect to the internet it gives me error 67, can not connect #777 and 1012 error.

What I have tried:
- Start/settings/services/internet/get settings/ and start IOTA.
- Tried making a new connection under start/settings/connections/connections and setup a new #777 connection.
- Changed Active Profile from 0 to 1 in ##3282#

None of this worked. Under ##3282# my settings are:
User Name:
Active Profile - 1
MIP_MODE - Mobile IP Only
User Name - (My Username)@sprintpcs.com
SPI MN-HA - 4D2
SPI MN-AAA - 4D2
ReverseTunnel Pref - Enable
Home Agent IP Address - 0.0.0.0 (for some reason it will not let me edit this setting)
Primary Home Agent - 0.0.0.0
Second Home Agent - 0.0.0.0
HA Shared Secret (HEX) – Blank
AAA Shared Secret (HEX) – Bunch of characters


Advanced:
ESN - Donor ESN (From Razr)
MSID - My Phone number

Not sure if any of this makes sense. I am just trying to get the internet working. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas. It does say "Preparing vision services" when I try to connect to the internet but always fails with error 67 Username and/or Password incorrect. Also get Cannot Connect Dialed #777. Also get error code 1012 could not prepare Vision services please try again later.

Check this link: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=291301 for the evdo solution. the esn change is easy, its getting the internet/evdo working thats the hard part. Once youve done it once its a piece of cake.

Hey this was a PM for mlin but I though I would put it here also because a few others have PM'd me about this.........

Yea I had that same problem with my virus checker. I use McAfee and it is a false alert for a virus. I must have found and downloaded a dozen different ones and each one said it had a virus. I read that it was a false indication because the hack edits the reg.

So I turned my virus software off, crossed my fingers and closed my eyes and let it rip. Nothing happened. I have run 3 different virus checkers about a dozen times now since I first used it an nothing comes up.

Problem is that when you turn your virus software off to run the hack make sure you put the hack back in a zip format because if you don't as soon as you turn your virus checker back on it will delete/quarantine it. I am sure you will find the same thing as I did. What is the worst that can happen...hahaha ;)

Really you should be fine. But with that said.... Don't kill me if it actually turns out to be a virus (Nice public service announcement).

1 - someone in toronto could get me the htc HD with clone ESN number. And I do not mind to pay big $$$ .

OR

2 - I could pay one of you for just detail instuructions. I want very detail/simple insturction on how to clone the ESN number to new HTC HD. And I do not mind to pay $100 for just the insturctions.

No. You have one option: switch to GSM. The Touch HD is a GSM device and will not operate on a CDMA network. It's just a physical impossibility. And if you were on GSM, you wouldn't need to clone anyway. Just remove the SIM lock and pop in the SIM for your network.

meh, just found an xp machine, mtty does not work on vista/win7

plus the instructions could be more detailed. when it says to connect via diag com port. no where does it say you have to get dmrouter or the phone code to set that up and that you might need a driver on the system for the htc diag com port to work. otherwise helpful.

now just need to get the data connection to work now. also had to change the msid (i think, changed something in ppst), and the msl code uses the old esn #.

you need to download a tool called GETSPC. It's a prog that will run from your cell phone. You input your ESN and it gives you your MSL this will unlock your phone so you can make changes in QPST.
