I am thinking of making many modifications to a spare hermes/8525 I have.

I want to mod it to have a tilting screen.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Do you think it is possible to do it and make it look nice?

Thanks, Sirgatory

Darn, I thought this was going to be a guide to the mod. I would think it could work with a little modifications to the tracks. Only problem I could see if how to keep it popped up. Maybe see if anyone has completely disassembled the Kaiser to compare?

Another idea is to have tracks with a curve to them which would angle up the screen. They go flat when you slide it close, but flex and bend up/"curl" when you open the phone.

This was asked about a year or so ago and the conclusion was, (and I tend to agree) that there is no obvious way to do this as part of the mechanism is housed in the front section and the rest in the rear housing. So any mod would certainly require additional parts with no space between the front and rear housing to place a hinged mechanism. The sliding blocks on the front section would need hinges (that might be possible but the gap between front and rear sections would then become wider - which would not be particularly pleasing to the eye.

Thanks for your input. I am still going to try this as I have nothing to lose with this water damaged, bricked pda.

If I can accomplish this feat, I will try it on my functional 8525. And after that, pictures.

Thanks guys!
