I have TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03.CAB installed with TCPMPflvplugin-v0.4.3.cab.

I have run into several flv files that play fine on my laptop, but do not play in TCPMP. It advances across in about 1 second without displaying anything from the video.

I have not run into anything from YouTube that does not play.

I am going to install recomp-01 and try that.

There are still flv files with recom-01 that do not play, but do play fine on my pc, when transfered to my pc.

This seems to play them on my Fuze, but the video is choppy:

TCPMP-0[1].72RC1-GF5500Edition-Alpha4.1.CAB

It can be searched for and found on this site.

I've tried some of the non working files with this build but have had no luck. Do I need a specific version of Flash Video Bundle? I've used the skunkworks (i think?) and the one provided in this thread. Any other ones I should try?

With this alpha, you shouldn't need any plugins. But, I still do have problems with somefiles. They display 1 frame every few seconds and the audio works. But, if I tap the screen, it refreshes with every tap, so i can continuously tap the screen, and then I can actually view the video more smoothly than just letting it play.

This player is simply awesome! Thanks so much for this. It works great on my Samsung Omnia i900.

(TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03.CAB)

Is there a way i can play .wmv files with it too? I really would like TCPMP to be my player for all filetypes.
I don't understand. Does nobody play WMV files with TCPMP?

Try downloading and puting the 2 dll files from the link in pda \windows folder (just the files, not the folder in the zip!)

I have these dll files for WMV on TCPMP. They have to be copied to your windows folder on you device.
There are 5 files I will have to attach the 5th on another post

Doesn't look like the upload worked. Iwill find another way

I had to make the folder a zip file. Unzip from your PC and move to device with active sync, then move to your windows folder.

I have the same issue, this player is working great, all the original builds quit on my 6.1 Sprint Mogul, but I'd really be nice to have subtitles.

I found the same plugin: http://handheld.softpedia.com/progDownload/TCPMP-SUBS-Subtitle-Plugin-Download-70382.html That eventually points to here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcpmpsubssubtit/ I don't see source listed though.

It asks you to replace the common.dll and while your version of TCPMP kept working fine with their dll I could not get subs to display regardless of settings.

I just read this entire thread as I'm having a problem with TCPMP. About every 20 posts, someone asks this question which is the same problem I'm having:

The only thing close to a solution I found was this quote.

Did this ever get solved and I missed it? If so, could someone please point me to the fix? TIA
Is this equalizer problem still unsolved? I'm having the same problem with the equalizer. I'm using TCPMP 0.72RC1 and that's working fine eq enabled, but when I install "TCPMP SUBS SUBTITLE PLUGIN Version 0.6" the equalizer doesn't work anymore (when I enable the equalizer, there is some tremendous distortion and static).

Subs are working fine and that's terrific but now I had to disable the equalizer...

My OS is WM 2003SE.

I managed to make the original quotes disappear, read the original post by WMguy.

Hi All,

I've read most of the pages of this thread so I don't think I overlooked something but there's always a chance...

I installed the Recomp v3, and on the Touch Pro I can validate it works with the stock rom. *So happy*. I tried the first video I had, and it turns out to be a Mpeg-2, and TCPMP is throwing the "Mpeg-2 Not Supported" error. *So Sad.*

I thought it was because FFMpeg is missing but it is not. Any ideas?

TIA.

First thanks to all who have developed this app.

I downloaded this - TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03- and tried on mkv video.

unforetunately didn't play it. it just closes TCPMP down. the file has the player icon so would have expected it to read it.

I am using htc Himalaya, wm6.1 (pdaviet custom ROM)
Both mkv file and TCPMP installed to storage card ?? whether this makes a difference

is able to play the audio when video disabled , but GDI and Raw Framebuffer & Directdraw have same result as above.

are there any mkv & h264 decoder plugin?

if not any other wm6 software that may support this?

I find mkv with h264 encoding give the best file size to preserved quality ratio.

thanks

Okay so I installed this and it works for most codecs. However for AVC/x264 it does the same error, I have a .3gp video that does this (it works on my PPC2003 PDA and when I view the media info it tells me it's H264) but the 3GPs I have from my V-Mate (http://bestwikiever.wikidot.com/V-Mate) that are "MPEG 4 Videos" under the same window.

I have some DivX AVIs that work, and 264 AVIs that don' work, when I try to use the AVC.plg from my other PDA it gives the error no matter what video I load (like before)

It would be nice if someone built in the display method used in the Core Player. I think the HTC Video player uses it as well - its much faster than TCPMP. It would be nice to bring TCPMP up to date on its video output capability.

Anyway is there any HD user that can use this TCPMP program perfectly fine? I am able to play install and play video but my PLAY, FORWARD, STOP and FULL SCREEN button cannot be seem...but still can press. The Equalizer seem to distort the sound as well.

Pardon me if I missing something, but I like others have been a little confused by the different entries in this thread. Could someone please summarize the best and simplest way to adapt a pocket pc (tilt with the latest ROM) to play YouTube? I sure would appreciate it. I have tried a number of different things and still get a message from TCPMP that there has been an "unexpected program failure -- please send crash.txt..."

Thanks.

i downloaded this version because my previous version had that crash error.

I installed TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03.CAB along side with FlashVideoBundle v1.4.4

I have the samsung phone from verizon (before the omnia) and whenever, i open a fla file from youtube, it opens and closes without given a chance to play...so i downloaded coreplayer...but i want TCPMP to work cuz i can download from youtube and play it too.

I've added 4 dll files for Windows Media playback.
wmadecoder 342K
wmadmod 120k
wmsdmod 323k
wmvdecoder 885K
wmvmod 519K
With these files installed to the TCPMP folder, I still can't play WMA files on TCPMP. Is there anything else I need to do?

Where can I get these files? I want to get playback from Orb but none of the Windows media files are supported.

Edit: Nevermind found them.

Does this software work with the specified version ? Would I just need the TCPMP software or need some other things as well (codecs, dlls etc) to make sure I'm able to run almost all kind of media files ?

Thank you for your efforts,

I'm still having the same problem too. Now I have two TCPMPs installed (and moved to storage card, and new shortcuts made in the start menu), one with the subtitle plugin installed, and the other without the plugin. So now if I listen to music I use the non-subtitle-plugin-tcpmp with eq enabled... Doesn't of course fix the problem that it's impossible to watch movies etc with both subtitles and eq. :(

You can't :( For all I know the author never released them. I think the original release thread is this one (http://www.portegeclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1677&start=0&sid=10062674b905738fd00f51980d28d04d). Sources have been requested but he's been gone for some months now and no anwsers...

The 0.72RC1 recomp3 in this thread is the latest, most stable, unnofficial version with available source. Sourcewise other than this you have a flv1 plugin (http://sourceforge.net/projects/flvstreamtcpmp/), a flv4 plugin (http://nsft.108shiki.com/soft/) (for the last official version) and a subtitle plugin (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcpmpsubssubtit/)... And of course the last official releases (http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test/).

Were you planning something cool?

Ok, I have another major issue.

I have managed to install TCPMP (TCPMP-0.72RC1-GF5500Edition-Alpha4.1.CAB) on my gorgeous Samsung Omnia and it work. Well... it can play all the .flv files I tried. (I can send it if someone needs it)

My problem is that it lags SOO much, I am starting to believe it actually converts them to powerpoint presentations !!!! and then lags a bit.

The only file that it plays right is an On6 FLV6 file with resolution 352x240. Any other file (same codec but higher res) Lags like hell!!. Same thing happens with YouTube play.

However, one Flv file (FLV H.263 codec 720x 480) plays PERFECT on Coreplayer, so I guess the device CAN play them.
The same file lags like hell in TCPMP oy YouTube Play.
But CorePlayer doest not support On2 FLV6 so I can't just settle with that player.

So my problem is....

Either I must find a way to make CorePlayer support On2 FLV6, or get rib of the lag in TCPMP. (apparently CorePlayer has something, TCPMP does not, and I need it:mad:)

Any suggestions?:(
please?
Please please?

(P.S. My window is constantly open after searching for a solution for a couple of weeks...And I live on the 3rd floor......long way down .... just saying...

Hi

Sorry if bringing up an old thread, but i need a bit of help, please

I installed the version from the first post on my Ignito (O2 version of Diamond), it didn't work, then i read through the thread, installed FlashBundle, softreset and it worked. However, the first video i tried to play (AVI, 640x480) was REALLY choppy, no matter which mode is used. Why could it be so? It used to work really well on my old Orbit, which was more than twice less powerful...

I seen people saying about additional codecs, installed on top, but where do i get those then?

BTW, many thanks for making it work at all, coz it's a brilliant player

upd: apparently, it wasn't an old thread=)

Anyone tried the equaliser?

Increased the preamp by 25. Sound solid. But the equaliser doesn't work. Lots of white noise when enabled. I am using the recomp-3 'tcpmp for wm6.1' for my pda phone i780 wm6.1 pro.
Anyone tried the equaliser?

My old wm5 pda running tcpmp r72 has no problem with equaliser.

I got the same equaliser issue with my WM5 PPC after upgrading the TCPMP.

Hi everyone,

I used to have a nokia n95 (symbian OS). that was my first smartphone and now im hooked. anyway my boyfriend recently got me a XDA serra running windows mobile. I love new gadgets, trying to get all the functions working and installing new programs, tweaking it just right so that its perfect for use. However, im having real problems with my new phone playing videos.

All videos im trying to play are .avi files. On the nokia n95 the screen res was 320x240 and the settings on pocket divx encoder worked perfectly. the xda serra has 640x 420 and ive been using the same program with the new pixel setting to encode files for this new phone. However i have spent hours trying to fix the settings so that the movie is not choppy. i even turned off the touch flo 3d thingy. i was using divxplayer, and just now i downloaded the core player on the first post (which works fine) and tried to play a video on there. it still jerky (motion sickness inducing). Im about to give up (it ruined bank holiday monday!) so this is my cry for help. what am i doing wrong?

K I'm not all that great at the minute technical details, but I can usually figure out how to install something. Such is not the case with this file, though. I'm running an Omnia i910 with wm6.1, and I was able to install the basic TCPMP for 6.1 with no problem, but no matter what I do I cannot play flash files. I'm not trying to get them from Youtube or anything, just playing files I have saved on my device. I've tried every different setting, I installed the flash plugin and put the files in the root folder, and still nothing. How exactly is this new build installed anyway? When i dl the file and unzip it, there's hundreds of files in dozens of folders, but no CAB or even EXE files as far as I can find. maybe I'm missing something really obvious (god I hope so i'm getting pissed....) can anybody help?

have you associated tcpmp to play flv files?

JaredXIII
15th April 2009, 03:45 AM
yup I've done that, and even tried the option suggested by another in this thread to also associate it with MMS protocol, and still nothing. I get the infamous black screen, sometimes with sound, and then the "video codec not supported blah blah blah...." error message when I press stop. In the time since i posted, I also uninstalled everything and reinstalled just for kicks, but still nothing.....

Besides making sure of file associations, the player (or almost any PPC player) does not support On2 VP6 codec or FLV4. There have been some other pluggins created for these, but the video is very slow and choppy at best.

Post #1 has the cab at the bottom in a box. You can't miss it! It's in a ZIP file, you download it to your PC, un-zip it, the cab file is there and transfer it to your phone via active sync.:)

Hi.

I've installed the TCPMP from post #1 on my Advantage X7510 (WM6.1 -O2 ROM) and it works, but the performance is much lower than the TCPMP I was using on my Universal (WM5 O2-ROM). I've tried a few different files (.avi .mpeg etc) and they all seem quite jerky and slow.

Is this due to the player or the codec?

Appologies if this has already been answered, but with 35 pages in this thread it takes some time to find things, even with the help of the search engine.

Thanks.

I have been playing around getting TCPMP to compile in VS2008, it now builds and runs.

These new builds have 2 main advantages over the original builds:

1) They run on the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 ROMS where the original build crashes (crash.txt message).
2) They support the FLV format straight out of the CAB.

On the Kaiser you must use 'GDI' or 'Raw FrameBuffer' for decent

I have had the same problem. TCPMP will not open and run most Youtube videos anymore. I think Youtube changed its format so TCPMP doesn't work anymore.

I have had the same problem. TCPMP will not open and run most Youtube videos anymore. I think Youtube changed its format so TCPMP doesn't work anymore.Sad because the FLV is much higher quality than the RTSP type stream....

I don't think it's that youtube changed their 'format'... It's that they added more parameters into the URL, so that TCPMP gets confused and can't parse out the entire URL properly.

invario
27th May 2009, 02:36 PM
I FIGURED IT OUT!!! After much hard work, I've figured out the problem, but I don't know how to fix it. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than myself can actually FIX it now though....

For those that don't know, the way PIE works with TCPMP is that PIE creates a video.m3u file inside \PROGRAM FILES\TCPMP which TCPMP then opens. video.m3u contains the URL of the FLV file that you pull off from youtube... (m3u files are simply playlists)

Since youtube changed the format of its URL, it has gotten significantly longer.

TCPMP has a hard limit of 256 bytes (characters) on the URL. So, what happens with the new URL is that it often exceeds the 256 byte limit, and TCPMP will only read it UP TO the 256 byte. Anything after 256 bytes is LOST and that's why you get "could not open URL"

Example:
Youtube video of half life live action thingee:
http://v15.lscache4.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?ip=0.0.0.0&sparams=id%2Cexpire%2Cip%2Cipbits%2Citag&itag=5&ipbits=0&sver=3&expire=1243450800&key=yt1&signature=0FD79ABE8B1527FBDCCA117F163434544DD5226F .412B317466B85C5F1DEC05B615B47F264F845325&id=ab550f304982a99aLength = 263, I get the error. Can't play video.

same video, but instead, I edited the video.m3u file and manually resolved the domain name (v15.lscache4.googlevideo.com = 74.125.167.35)

http://74.125.167.35/videoplayback?ip=0.0.0.0&sparams=id%2Cexpire%2Cip%2Cipbits%2Citag&itag=5&ipbits=0&sver=3&expire=1243450800&key=yt1&signature=0FD79ABE8B1527FBDCCA117F163434544DD5226F .412B317466B85C5F1DEC05B615B47F264F845325&id=ab550f304982a99aLength=248 and the video plays

I'm going to look into this further....

edit: I downloaded the source, but I have no idea how to even begin (as I'm not a programmer...) I believe the relevant file is interface/win32/playlist.c but I'm not sure if that's the only one.

invario
27th May 2009, 06:20 PM
I've found the solution!!!!!!

I took the OP's source (first post), opened it in Visual Studio 2008 (freaking 3GB download from MS!!) and started snooping around.

Modified the following files:
interface/win32/playlst.c -> replaced all values of '256' with '1024'
interface/win32/win_win32.c -> replaced all values of '256' with '1024' (except the one that says 256*1024... on my source, it's line 2598)
common/portab.h -> replace MAXPATH 256 with MAXPATH 1024 (line 260)

The resulting files are now here! -
http://rapidshare.com/files/237840222/tcpmp-0.72rc1-fixed-youtube-05-27-2009-invar.rar

The bad news is this:

- I have no idea how to put stuff into a self install CAB, so the file I uploaded to rapidsdhare is ONLY the three files that were necessary. You MUST install a CAB version of 0.72RC1 from elsewhere (preferably the same version in this thread that was posted.)

- Also, the version of 0.72 RC1 I used does NOT install the PIE videoloader.dll (aka flashvideobundle), so if you completely uninstalled any preexisting version of TCPMP and installed the one posted here, you MUST reinstall flashvideobundle which is not really a problem, just an extra step. Here's a link for it! (google for 'flashvideobundle 1.4.4' if the link dies... there are plenty of sites)
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Video/FlashVideoBundle-64991.shtml

Anyway, if someone knows how to package this into a CAB or something, feel free to go ahead and do it and then post it. It appears to be working great so far, and I hope I didn't screw anything up.

Feedback appreciated!

Since you're going to do a recompile could you also do apply this fix to the subtitle plugin (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcpmpsubssubtit/)? The compiled files consist on a modded common.dll and interface.plg...

Thanks man :) It's working great!... well as good as the plugin does.

This compile has an issue that the original plugin also has (which is normal). The original plugin has this issue in which the Titlebar from the TCPMP GUI randomly disapears after you open a new file using the TCPMP file browser (even though it's checked in "Functions">"View">"Titlebar")... If this were an inependent subtitle.plg (rather than a common.dll and interface.plg mod it'd be a lot better...). I'll see if I can get in contact with the author about this.

Anyway since you did a recompile I don't know if you may be interested in the following. I found this mod that adds support for Pocket Scrobbler. But more important it also has a file that supposedly fixes an issue with some unicode characters in ID3v2 tags (I couldn't confirm this). If you're interested this site (http://www.derkarl.de/) constains the modified files.

I had a problem watching movies with external subtitles (not embedded) on my HTC Touch Cruise (Polaris). I originally had TCPMP v.0.71j but the subs plugin was not compatible with that version. Then I tried 0.72RC1 found on the web and 0.81 but both version crashed at startup!

Thank God I found the link to this thread in the subtitle plugin (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcpmpsubssubtit/) .zip file! This version works great on my Polaris (GDI video selected), the subs load automatically and of course there are no crashes!!

Has anyone had any success on the Touch Pro 2? On loading TCPMP the gui is corrupt (missing icons). On playing a file there is sound but no video and the display does not go full screen. Screen taps will pause the video as normal but the rest of the gui is unresponsive. I suspect there is a defunct window layer covering the display. A soft-reset it the only way to get the device back to normal.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298126

I think I know why you cannot watch wmv files.... MS changed the name of two WMP files (maybe others?) when they moved from WM5 (in the original TCPMP development) to WM6. Because the two files have been renamed TCPMP cannot find them. The files you need to copy into the Windows folder are wmv.decoder.dll and wmadecoder.dll. I think you can download them from this forum, somewhere - search? The first file is used by TCPMP to play video .wmv files and the second to play audio .wma files.

It works on my HTC touch HD it even play FLVs. The trouble is it won't rotate which makes it useless with such screenestate. I tried GSEN with different options. But it worked only in a funny situation where I first rotated 'Today' in landscape (the right side becomes garbage) and launch TCPMP, with 'follow GUI' checked.
Anybody any solution ? thanks

I know it is convenient to play native wmv files, but after a lot of experimentation I came to the conclusion that the majority of wmv files do not play well in TCPMP. Some do, but not all. It depends on the sampling rate and other factors. I usually use DVD Catalyst (Google it) to turn them into VGA DiVx files which always play superbly on TCPMP. It is worth the small investment in DVD Catalyst just to perform this codec conversion. All wmvs can be converted and they play flawlessly and fast. I have been through several upgrades of DVD catalyst and the author, Mitch, is very helpful if you have any problems. It will also convert DVDs, oops, there I said it, but I never use that, now do I?

I seem to have a small problem running this TCPMP on my Hermes 8525 using CRC's latest stable ROM 13.4:(. The title bar and menu tabs are totally black, I can not see the fonts or icons. They still work if I press the areas (as I have used TCPMP up till now), but this is really not the way it is supposed to work.

Does anyone have this same problem, or can tell me how to fix this please:confused:?

Thank you very much.

It is because of the start screen or "today" theme. Some of the colour settings mean that what should be two different shades of gray/black are the same that are used by TCPMP. The Black theme used by HTC has this problem.

Try changing the theme and the problem should disappear?

Amazingly SMART answer my friend:D!! You where totally right on the money! I THANK YOU SOOO much! I would never have thought about the today screen conflict, unless I fluked out and changed it in the near future while trying to find a working TCPMP. I really liked my today screen though, so that wouldn't have happened, hence my delema that is now OVER!

THANKS again VERY much.

The trouble screen is called Diamond_v2.0b downloaded through CRC's device update, on rom 13.4. MAJOR conflict between this today screen background and TCPMP. You can have the same background with NO conflict called Flat Black through same Device Update;).

'twas nuffin.....

I spend a lot of time playing with making themes and stumbled on this. I like TCPMP too and also used it for years. But I also use S2P (see other threads) from A_C. I use TCPMP for video, and S2P for audio only files.

Hello,

I have downloaded the 13 MB megapack version of TCPMP. I don't know if somebody else experienced this problem, but I'm again getting the error that the plugin is not compatible with this version of TCPMP and I have to upgrade. Now I am going to try to find version R81...
I also tried TCPMP GF5500 edition and it works perfectly on my diamond. It opens movies with AC3 format sound and it also opens .flv files. Without any additional codecs.
Here is the place to say, that I am experimenting with 2 FLV files. The smaller one, 320x240 resolution plays flawlessly, the other one lags heavily. So I think that whoever here is complaining about lagging, should try with smaller .flv files with a worse resolution. PPC CPUs are still not good enough :-( Even > 500 MHz...

The .cab on pccgeeks won't download, but the .exe does. I've deleted the Skunkworks flash bundle and, TCPMP now seems to be happy (10 mins in with it at the moment)... Also, also it's actually happy on the SD card.... Ah the promised land....

Ooo, some of you people are clever.. and we the ones who aren't, are grateful..

Hello,

I've just bought myself a new T-mobile version of the HTC Touch Pro 2. It still has the standard rom and firmware.

I'm stepping on the plane the monday, so i thought i need a few movies to enjoy myself. Now when i was looking for good players i found the TCPMP.

I've installed your latest version but it keeps crashing, It crashes when i open a video file (no matter what file as far as i know). But the sounds keeps go on in the background and the sound has good quality. But i dont see a picture. Sometimes its stays pitch black and sometimes it shows a crashed video picture (with al the colloured pixels)

The bottom bar stays in my device at all times, and it stays there untill i reboot my device. Does someone has a solution for this?

Please help

Well i think i got it working,

I got the Altered Version on page 39, uninstalled the version 3. And installed the altered one.

I Switched the DirectDraw To Raw frame buffering and it worked.

Im gonna try the version 3 and use the same configuration and try again.

Thanks

EDIT: With the Raw Frame Buffering its sometimes a bit low on FPS. When i use GDI i looks like its better

Did somebody try to set plugin for subtitle option in TCMP , and which version of tcmp is needed for subtitle plugin? I tried with suggested 0.71 RC - latest officially version, and i did everything suggested in readme, like adding 3 files from subtitle.zip for tcmp in installation folder of tcmp player, and i could see subtitle - menu in TCMP, but it didn't load subtitles, from movie folder, where is places subtitle file .SRT with same title like movi file (.avi) , i tried another .avi file - movie , but same thing ? !

Please if somebody suceed to do this , share it with us ?

I know this is hardly a pressing issue, but hopefully isn't hard to implement either.

Any chance of 128dpi (320x320) friendly icon sizes added to the executable? The icons are quite jarring for those of us with a Treo or Epix... I know there is a VGA 96dpi patch but it just doesent feel right to me. Sometimes the little things really affect the experience.

I could get the equalizer to work by defining FIXED_POINT (either as compiler flag /D "FIXED_POINT" or directly in common/fixed.h)

Can you explain how you did this, you can enable the equilizer and adjust it whitout the cracin noise ?

Hey there!
I've been using your builds for some time on my diamond and it was really nice...I tested on my raphael and on many video (divx encoded) it's pretty slow, got lots of video/sound stop (sometimes just video, sometimes just sound...). But it's more "speed" problems because of my SD card and the video resolution I think...
Then I have 2 questions :
- As a developer I opened the source code to see a little how the display is made. I would like to make the screen working on my raphael using WM6.5 builds....buttons are too small (something like 1 or 2 pixel for "play/stop" buttons)...it's pretty hard to change this lol but I'm on my way
- Do you know a free/easy video resolution converter ? to make my video smaller (not necessary re-encoder since tcpmp reads nice divx)

Last question : is there a SVN somewhere ? so I may get latest and maybe even push updates (graphics only to have those buttons visible on my raphael device)

Thanks for the great job!

Hello Woomg, tnx on your advice, but this didn't work for me, and my HTC diamond !?

Did you test it with HTC Diamond? Is it important when i set video mode to "GDI", before or after copying files from SUBS063WM6.1.zip ?

Inside .zip file, are 3 files in WM6.1 folder, and COPYING .txt file inside archive, do I need to copy copying.txt file?

I try everthing but same result, when i put subtitle plugin, TCMP can't start, nothing happen !?

If somebody has a good expirience with working subitlte plugin for TCMP, and HTC Diamond, plase share that with us?!

Tnx in advance!

Sucro

p.s.

Now i fixed it, and works lik a charm :)! Big tnx for your advice! I did wrong, cause before i put - ati3200.plg & intel2700g.plg in install folder, my fault , cause they are not necessary for HTC Diamond + TCMMP with working subtitle plugin :)

For all you, this is what you have to do for working subtitle in HTC diamond + TCPMP version from first page of this thread

1. Install TCPMP - 1 page

2. Download this subtitle plugin for WM6.1

http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcpmpsubssubtit/files/tcpmpsubssubtit/0.63%20Beta/SUBS063WM61.zip/download

3. Unpack, and put 2 files from unpacked folder - \SUBS063WM61\WM.6.1 , called COMMON.DLL and Interface.plg, to the same directory you have installed TCPMP 0.72

These files must be replaced:
- common.dll (changes some video drivers to add subtitle support)
- interface.plg (adds the Subtitle control menu)

Some other files are not necessary if your device does not support Intel 2700 or ATI 3200 drivers.
- ati3200.plg
- intel2700g.plg - these file are not necessary for your HTC DIAMOND, don't copy these files in installation folder of TCPMP!

4. If your language is not English, you may need to change your system encoding.
Select "Settings->System->Regional Settings" from the Start Menu and then choose your language.
It will help if you see strange symbols in subtitle text instead of the correct ones.

5. Now start TCPMP 0.72. You will see some changes in interface:
- A new page of settings where you may change font name, size and boldness, disable
subtitles completely or change their speed.
- Options->Subtitle submenu in the main menu. It allows opening a new subtitle file,
to switch between several subtitle streams and also to change speed.
- A hotkey for subtitle stream switching in Settings on the Hotkey page

6. Using the plugin

You may copy subtitle files to the same folder where the films are located.
The plugin will autodetect subtitles which names begin with the film name when you click the "Play" button:
filmname.srt
filmname.eng.smi
...
etc

Good luck!

These new builds have 2 main advantages over the original builds:

1) They run on the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 ROMS where the original build crashes (crash.txt message).
2) They support the FLV format straight out of the CAB.

recomp-03 doesn't play flv nor mp4 on my Samsung i200 (WM6.1).

There is no crash.txt message. The tcpmp window opens and closes again without showing anything of the video.

Any tips?

---

SOLUTION: I deleted ffmpeg.plg and installed flvffmpeg.plg (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcpmpflvplugin/#). Now FLV are playing well! :-)

Of course after deleting ffmpeg.plg TCPMP doesn't plays MP4. But that's no problem since my i200 has another video player on board for that files.

Right: It has a slower processor since it is a smartphone - but it is still an ARM processor!

This Recomb.3 opens and plays all the other formats like 3gp and avi without problems.

mp4 and flv worked also at one point. But I don't remember what I changed since then...

Installed the recompiled TCPMP on a new Samsung BT7320 with WM 6.1 and playback worked. However when I quit the program, the video screen display overlay stays on for about 2 to 3 secs before going away. Seems the code takes a while to be released. It's so irritating, I uninstalled it. Anyone with same observations? BTW, I have previous versions on TCPMP working nicely on i600 (WM 6.0), i780 (WM 6.1) and Treos 600 and 650.

Hi,
After a week of search and research finally I got this player TCPMP, which is a freeware and support all format (I didn't want to spend money that huge money on Coreplayer :D)

It works great on my Jade (Touch 3g) and plays all the video files i wanted. Thank you so much for this!!:)

The only glich I'm facing is when I run the TCPMP, at the bottom it gives me "File" and "Option" soft keys, but it doesn't display the next slot of soft keys, i.e. "Play Symbol", "FF symbol", "Stop symbol" and "Fullscreen button". Although it display it for a moment, if I click on it (I discovered accidentaly that there are few soft keys). After those button, it displays the volume button.
Not a big issue though, as I can use hot keys for executing those functions, still would prefer to have those softkeys.
Can you please help and let me know in case I missing any settings.

Thanks!!

I have come across this before. I think you should try a different Today theme. From my experience the theme colours that TCPMP uses mean that with some, perfectly valid, theme colours the text and the background are the same. HTC Black theme is one of them. Try changing the WM theme (today theme?).

Great!!! You are correct, changing the WM theme helped me to see the Soft keys. It was actually the problem with background colour.
Was wondering is there a way to change the colour of the TCPMP player, as changing the WM theme colour interfere with couple of other applications.

Without getting into the program code and I am sure there are those here who can do that. But there is a simpler solution. If you know which theme colours are causing the problem, you could modify your chosen theme your self. All the WM themes can be edited with some of the freeware programs like ThemeGenCE (Google it). This particular program is very strange. You will understand my choice of words if you try it. The French and English manuals do help. With a bit of effort you can master it sufficiently to change any of the colours. Then you can save the modified theme and install it as normal on your device. Hey presto, TCPMP and other problems solved. And you might even have a theme that you like better!

Assuming you installed the subtitle plugin from sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcpmpsubssubtit/) you just need to set video to gdi... I really wish the subtitle plugin was done better (an independent .plg file rather that modified player.exe, common.dll and interface.plg... and intel xscale support).

PS: Can anyone compile the sources of this TCPMP project (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcpmpmx27videop/)? I'm kind of curious on how good is the avc/h264 and mp4 plugin.

Hi folks.

I have a good news for those of you, who want to use original TCPMP plugins, which source code is closed.

The trick is to pack plugin with UPX. If you want more details, look at this StackOverflow question. (sorry, I can't post links now, so you need to copy&paste it yourself, if you want)

avc61.plg is attached ;)

I find that adding a reg dword (where the name is the same as the file name and value is 1) to HKLM\System\Loader\LoadModuleLow fixes most crashes in TCPMP I ever experienced.

That's one of the things I added to the setup I made (for personal usage) using components from different builds I found scattered all over the web.

And there are some is at least this avc plugin source (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcpmpmx27videop/). I'd really want to see how it behaves (if anyone here could compile it... and compile the rest of this player version).

EDIT:

There was no mpeg4.plg in the pack. Nevertheless I tried it but avc plugin crashed the player when I tried to play a video in h264.

Well the project in the source code was set up to compile only those plugins that I've attached. I'm assuming that ffmpeg.plg is used for both mpeg4 and h264 decoding. Also the TCPMPmx27 on sourceforge states that it ads hardware decoding so I'm guessing that we don't have proper hardware, or some additional steps needed to get it built properly.

Ok guys I've been working silently on an update of TCPMP and decided to share it with you. So this update is based on milesowbray's source and includes:

equalizer problem fix
updated flac library (version 1.21)
newest ffmpeg static build (can decode flv1 and flv4 but unfortunately still no h264 support in flv container)
updated matroska parser now can parse matroska 2.0 format
added subtitle support from existing sources on sourceforge
recompiled wavpack.plg with cegcc now it works but crashes the player when song is repeated
(wil give proper credits to people whose work is included when finish my work)

Some considerations: flac ffmpeg and wavpack plugins were compiled using cegcc in some cases problems can occur as they tend not to load on newer roms, the existing solutions are to add values to registry
or to pack plugins with upx. I've chosen second option so after installation all plugins should work :).

Also I'm working on some simple skin support for TCPMP wich is not ready for release, sorry too many bugs.

Also attaced another version of ffmpeg.plg which works a bit faster on my device please let me know wich one is better for your device

The files below are very experimental previews and needs a lot of testing I'm not taking any responsibility, use it on your own risk.

Greetings from Lithuania!!!

@hendrixus

Your's is actually my first feedback in 100 downloads (so thanks :) ). I never experienced a freeze while streaming (only choppy streaming deppending on media or signal)... Also what do you mean with "black screen"? If you just can't see the buttons it may be a conflict with your theme (black ?)... My pack has uses the player.exe, interface.plg and common dll that were compiled from milesmowbray sources by invar (because it increases the address max char limit thus allowing to stream from Youtube) so it would be normal getting some of the issues as the version in the first post of this thread.

Try changin the theme color to see if you get the buttons.

@ bimbam69

Nice to see a new release! Thank you for picking this app! Will try.

I have collected a lot of different sources of TCPMP I found and which may interest you. Among them are sources of flv1/flv4 plugins (ffmpeg based), subtitle "plugin" (really needs to be made into an independent component... and have Intel XScale added) and even one that one with the hw decodeing avc plugin variant. Link is in my signature (I've written small readmes with info about what the sources and binaries (including my package) contain aswell as links to the authors).

Also make sure you release your sources :D

Your version is great!
Only issue I found so far is that it crashes if I try to stream from Youtube using WVD (works with other website...). But By using the flv plugin (and splitter) from Sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcpmpflvplugin/) it works (so it's source can be of use).

The cab only installs to internal memory (not the sd card...) but that's easy to fix.

One thing I noticed in eoc builds (TCPMP GF5500) is he edited the lang_std.txt (inside the language.tgz) in such a way that he made TCPMP use the WMP dlls (in the rom) to play wma and wmv (makes these files show in TCPMP file browser and TCPMP plays them). I added his version to my pack for that reason. Might be worth looking at ( also I once found a rmsplitter.plg that could maybe be used to add RealMedia to TCPMP in a similar way ?... using the link in my sig it's in the binaries folder).

To fmariam

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions I will have a look, but must say that I'm probably not going to work on subtitle add-on. I've added it as I wanted it to be compatible with my build.

As for fvl1 and flv4 plug-ins they are implemented into ffmpeg.plg and splitter.plg. Sources of flv1 plug-in are from sourceforge and were present in milesmowbray's TCPMP source
took flv4 (version 0.55) sources from nsft.108shiki.com/soft/
The reason for doing so is that it would reduce size of build and keep it in one peace rather than having flvsplitter.plg flvffmpeg.plg and flv4splitter.plg flv4ffmpeg.plg

As for streaming crash there is some kind weird issue. I've recompiled a new splitter.plg (attached below) and now it doesn't crash when streaming form youtube.

Noticed you removed avutil, avcodec, cegcc dll dependencies :)

Nice thing you merged the code from ffmpeg plugins (milesmowbray used an older version of the flv plugin from sourceforge... I don't think the ffvp6 plugin even existed yet). I actually asked for that in the past (both in the flv1 forum and to nv... so thanks).

I also find your second ffmpeg.plg file quicker than the one in the cab.
flv4 is slower... at least with my test file ( 63% -> 56% in benchmark). Previously I used nv's ffvp6 0.54 iwmmxt_m32ce but don't know if that version works in all devices (seemed the fastest in my device...0.55 versions crashed).

Streaming is indeed fixed. Thanks!

I think it's safe to say that this is the best version of TCPMP available.

PS: I packed a new cab with your second ffmpeg and splitter plugins and with eoc's language.tgz (without the instalation dir limitation) and uploaded it to MediaFire. Hope you don't mind (all proper credit is given... will remove it if you want it so).

avutil and avcodec dll's are built in ffmpeg.plg, cegcc.dll isn't needed since i'm using more recent cegcc compiler.

Slower!? :), definately wil look into nv's configure scripts and revise my sourcecode. Its a fact that compiling ffmpeg with diferent options can make it slower or faster.

TCPMP can't play your flv file probably because it contains h.264(a.k.a AVC) video data, the existing flv plugins for TCPMP can only play flv files which contain flv1(sorenson h.263) or flv4(on2vp6) codecs. To find out which codec is in your flv file you can use vlc player on your desktop pc by opening that file and then Tools->Codec Information... (Ctrl+j).

Hi,

Can you please let me know how can we install the cab in SD card (not in internal memory). I saw that while installing this build of TCPMP (from first page) it asks about location to install, but even after selecting sd card, it installed in internal memory.

Please advice how to get it installed in SD card.

@frmariam,
Was your comment only for bimbam69's build or for the TCPMP build present in first page?

As of now, I'm looking for the repacked CAB of "TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03.CAB.zip" from milesmowbray(as attached in the first page of this thread), which can be installed on SD card.

bimbam69 build is based on milesmowbray's recomp3 sources. It's almost the same... except he fixed the equalizer and some other bugs, updated many components, merged sources of some plugins and added (optional) skin support :D

Currently that's the best version of TCPMP around (believe me... I've tried lots of combinations using components from many existing builds and this is better than any of those). Try the first link in my signature (file name is TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-WM5-2010.rar ).

PS: If you still want a repacked version of milesmowbroy (although I can't see why you would) you can easily create it with the tools I linked in my previous post.

Great !
finally I can select audio and sub streams in mp4 files...
the only draw-back for the time being is, that the play-back is a little bit choppy in comparison to wmplayer... but wmp doesn't allow to select audio or sub-streams...
I'm using WM6.5 on a htc diamond 2;
I have tried all kind of set-ups for the playback in tcpmp, but never got the smooth play-back like in the wmp...
any tips?

The answer is in other question :p Why is there so many Linux distributions and fever Windows Os versions. The availibilyty of source code alows anyone who is interested to modify it and release its own custom version.

The TCPMP RC2 is aimed to be all in one player which has all plugins that works!!! that I cannot say for other versions. About decoding speeds they should be about the same in some cases a bit slower in some a bit faster.

I found a link here on the CoreCodec forum page. I check it every few months or so to see if finally they fulfilled their promise to support subs. As usual, nothing, but then the link to this shows up. I still used the old version of TCPMP, which worked OK on my Ipaq with Windows Movile 6 Classic, except when I quit TCPMP the screen would corrupt and I'd have to reset. Still, it worked real nice for AC3 audio.

I downloaded this, and it works very well indeed. No more screen corruption, h264 anime is fairly smooth. Haven't tested AC3 yet, but I left the old plugin there, I hope it works.

Thanks very much for everyone's hard work involved in getting this great piece of software out here!

What does not seem to work, unfortunately, is subtitles. I'm trying to play some anime MKV with subtitle stream embedded. It shows up in the subtitle menu, but when I select it (it's not greyed out or anything) and I go check the menu again, it stays on "None" (which is greyed out btw).

I checked the link to the subtitle plugin's page but found no link to a forum for support.

Can anyone tell me if this behaviour is normal? If it does not support embedded subs, why does the stream get shown in the menu?

Thanks!

Mine didn't work either until I saw a kyword from another thread, which is:

That unfortunately doesn't help either. You have to coose GDI to get external subs to display, but embedded subs don't show.

Hi,

I would like to submit the following problem.

I have an Acer S200 PPC WM6.5 and I have the latest TCPMP version installed. It works very fine with all formats.

But surprisingly, when I open TCPMP and try immedately to read a mp3 file, the program crashes (access violation in common.dll). This does not happen if I read first a wma file and after this the same mp3 file.

Do somebody have an explanation ?
