AT&T locked phone asking for unlock code on AT&T sim card

I got an 8525 locked to AT&T (I believe) network. When I put in my AT&T sim card, it gives me this message:

SimLock
Network is locked. Please input unlock code.

Do I need to unlock the phone or does it refer to something else?

I guess it's a weird problem, I'm sure the phone was locked to AT&T, maybe my 4yo sim card was the problem (first twas ATT, then Cingular, then ATT again).

Anyway, doesn't matter now as Pof's unlocker http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665 worked like a charm!
