how to make "Phone bar" taskbar icon show E?

Hi, I want to make the phone bar icon in the the task bar to show a small E when i'm connect to the internet.
how do I do that? just now it just shows a coat hanger.
I want to remove the network icon to save space.

The 'E' icon only appears when your network provides EDGE connectivity, otherwise you will see a simple 'G' if GPRS is available (GPRS is slower than EDGE) or a 'X' if no connectivity is available at all.
Available (both for E and G) doesn't mean connected. When you connect to the internet, two small opposite arrows will appear under the E or G.

No you got it wrong. not the Arrow icon. the reception icon.
above the reception icon of a rom a used it show G or E when im connected to the internet. how can i get that feature?

Ummmm...you get that feature when you're connected to the internet. Its the EDGE/GPRS icon.:confused:

I'm sure I remember seeing a registry hack somewhere on here that allowed you to forcefully display the E icon for EDGE. Try HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableDifferGprsEdgeIcon = 1 (DWORD decimal). That's what its set to on my phone.

No, Its not possible in wm6 or wm6.1 but only in wm5.:D

Maybe you can try playing with the icons and notification settings using advanced configuration. It has stuff for GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA icons and all. Its all under data connections.
