sorry to missed your post.
i get language files from a chinese wm6.1 rom for moto q8
almost all language files from it, except htc oem programs
because there are a lots of UI changes in wm6.1

i thought language files in wm6 can not be used in wm6.1
but when i put CommManager.exe.0804.mui into rom, it still work.

Commmanager mui is part of the OEM mui. So there should be absolutely no problems with these. Only the SYS mui files could be a problem.

ThanksHikey, I have downloaded your ROM installed it and changed the language & locale to English successfully. The ROM is very fast indeed. I have a few questions regarding input of characters:
When I pressed * (short press) the type in the upper bar showed Chinese, then “en” for English and “1,2” for numbers. At the time when I tried to input some characters in “en” mode a drop down box came which showed only lower case letters and no Capitals.
My first question is How to input capitals when top bar shows “en” mode ?
Next – I don’t know how but suddenly the top bar suddenly showed “a b”instead of “en” and whenever I pressed any key a 3x3 grid came giving me alternatives for inputting the required character by pressing the corresponding key. I liked this option as I could easily input any character in this mode either in caps or small.
My second question is how to make this mode permanent and how to select this “a b”mode instead of “en” mode when inputting English alphabets.
My third question is there any scope for enabling t9 for English in this ROM – if yes then how ?
I find that in expert folder there is a setting for plum sip, But it is totally in Chinese and we are not able to follow. Is there any site / help for plumsip in English ? Please post the link then.

Yes, except PlumSIP everything is good in this ROM.
We should have a way to disable this app.
We are not able to change the letters to CAPS in the options. :mad:

the answers:
1) at english mode, when you press a letter, you have a list of letters.
but it is lower case, then you can use left key to change it to capital.

2) Hold the "*" key to get a list of modes, then select.

another thing i noted in your rom is the .NET CF version. It has v2.0. V3.5 would have speeded up things on your already faster ROM.. what say?

This is only the case if you are using .NET apps. It would make the ROM slower though if have both installed...

I remebered too that when you were developing one of your rom (it was WM 6.0 if I'm not wrong) you had issues with T9 and you said that eventually the speed was much improved without it...and also some users reported it...so I think it WAS NOT a your impression.

Yes French and italian have both eccented letters and writing without them is pretty unuseful

I just translated the interface to english.
it is still a chinese IME, only support pinyin and english
can not be used to input french letters.

if you want a french interface plumsip, i can help you to do it.

but it only can be used to type in english letter (and chinese pinyin can not be removed)

i have been using Hikey ROM from last couple of months and once set to English, i never needed change something from chinese to English, Chinese never interfere even a single time. I am happy with Hikey ROM always.

Only i missed to have Plumsip in English and this time Hikey Rocks! he provided it in English.

And why you want to remove plumsip from it? Are all those people mad who made plumsip?

Everything is fine as usual but could not use because even if language is English, locale can't be set in english, everything is in chinese, can u correct locale also to use with english language?

I've just flashed this ROM, hey it's good.... I like the look and speed. Impressive! :)

The only problem I have is that some of the menus are still in Chinese which is causing me a few problems especially when trying to do a sms.
I've changed the locale to english us and installed the plumsip en.

Is there any way around these small problems or shall I wait just incase there maybe a possible engilsh version released?

2)The available storage is only 33 mb in my phone whereas earlier it was around 49mb. However, your screen image shows it to be 49.05 mb. I flashed the ROM twice but found same results - What may be the reason ?
3)The locale is in Chinese. I have installed an English locale by trial and error as pointed out be Carrots99 but I am not sure that it is the English (UK) version as there are a number of English version installed. Can you do us a favour? - Count from TOP and give us the serial no. of English (UK) and English (US) version. Better still, if you can post all the locales serially as they appear in the menu so that we can just count and change it as per the serial number. It will help all of us. Rest is all good as it always happens with your ROMs.

I had changed the imgfs compress format to use the imgfstools.
and breakthough the 55M limit of imgfs size.

but the new format cost more rom space. about 10M more than old format.

thanks how for local setting. it was bothering also how to use normal ABC for writing. Like you press 1 time to get a and 2 time to b and three times same button for c. I open plum application but it is chinese and even if I change to ABC mode it shows me options with numbers that if i press once maps of characters opens.

Edit: And also power settings are messed up for me. Can not change them.

Thanks for your efforts. Although I had changed to English through trial your rebuilt ROM is a welcome for all of us enabling us to change locale easily. I will download and install it later.

About the RAM in my device -How can I increase it to to 49 mb as shown in your screenshot. Mine is only 33mb. Any suggestions / advises please. Does it seem to be a problem with my device ?

Did you install plumsipen cab (linked in first post). If not the menu will come in chinese. No problem. I will try to help you.
Press and hold * in any text mode (message, notes etc) - a menu will popup - pressing 4 will change to sort of xt9 mode or pressing 5 will change to multitap (abc) mode.
Once you enter t9 mode pressing * again will change the input to "chinese", t9(shown as "en" on screen top) and numeric alternately as required by you. You can now enter your texts as normal t9 input - default is lower case - pressing left of dpad will change to "proper"(first letter in caps) "all caps" and again to "all lower case" alternately. While you enterm sugested words will be shown in a drop down box for easy selection. You can also add your custom word - just play a bit and you can do it easily.

Seems a bit complicated while reading but very easy and innovative once you get practised.
Hope I am able to ease out your problem a bit - A word of caution though - don't go into plumsetup menu because its all in chinese and you make change some settings which may make it difficult for you to enter texts. It is better to delete the shortcut to avoid accidental opening of the menu. In any case if you open it exit by pressing the left soft key.

Screen shots are exactly the same as shown by frauhottelmann in his 20279 beta ROM. Solid black background with panel screen. Weather option added as a new panel. Mails has a separate panel too.

I did the rest but problem is here I dont want grid box. It slows your typing. Normall tap ABC mode you dont have any grid. Anyway to make it normal??

As far as I know there is no normal multi tap abc mode. It is only in grid. Maybe Hikey can tell you if there is anything more.
