Does anyone else have problems getting Windows Live to sync your hotmail? I finally got it working with the push support, but it does not allow me to download attachments. Anytime I try to download an attachment it says failed to sync. I've tried the 3 latest versions available from this board and none of them seem to work. I've also tried these combinations with both versions of biggy 4.0 to no avail. With open touch 3.0 (Windows live biggie) the Windows Live service was working perfectly. I can't imagine that having windows live built into the Rom was what made the difference. Any one have any ideas? If this is simply an unfixable bug do you know if the gmail imap works like a push client? I tried to configure gmail, but it wouldn't allow anything quicker than a check every 5 mins.

Once again thanks ttran for your hard work in creating this great rom. Without it I'd probably be an iSheep by now.

I followed the instructions and did a soft reset, after that the Micro v4.1 run really sloooow. I have to perform a hard reset and reinstall all the other cabs.

So is it because I installed the wrong dialer cab or is it something wrong with the Micro v4.1? Whatever reason is I hope this is a good info for other ppl, too.

Other than that the Micro v4.1 run amazing fast and I do miss the black dial from the Lite Black version :(

I added percent and mem feedback to the screen using QM, removed them and could not reenable htc task mgr. I want to say there used to be an option in the HTC x-button settings to show on today screen. That option is not there. Currently searching for the reg key.... will update post

Using battery status?? I get the noise while using the cpu scaler UNDERclocking below 149. If it annoys you that much raise your min to 149. Otherwise, just try setting different processor speeds...dont over do it, see if that doesnt help.

ttran...I finally resolved my problem with Pocket Nester! Turns out it was user error...:o I had the files on my storage card in My Documents instead of having them at the root level. I noticed that it was seeing some of the folders on the storage card but none of the ones in My Documents. I moved them to the root of the storage card and it works! :D

since there is talk about the dialer i thought i would ask... in OT Biggy 3.0 the dialer had buttons that were quite large.

in this version the dialer is alot better, because it has the contacts built right into it at the top. however there is alot of space between the buttons, making them too small for my fingers.

is there a skin that just makes the dialer buttons bigger without downgrading back to the 3.0 version?

I've been running a BT GPS for a while now with this phone. I've had my BT headset paired as well. I can use both at the same time. Monday, while talking on the headset, it just ended the call spontaneously. A few minutes later, after getting a call back on, it just ended the BT portion, and I had to actually pick up the phone (Horrors!:eek:)

Today, the cell phone side seems to be having troubles. (I've not tried the BT headset again, but still running the GPS) Several times I have had a "!" next to the phone icon in place of a signal strength meter... no signal or some error. I've had connection errors with the GPRS as well.

I may try out the micro with the newer radio in it, or look more into flashing an older radio version on here.

i'm using OT 4.0 biggy vista and everytime I set the backlight option to turn off after 3 minutes instead of 30 seconds and the power to turn off in 5 minutes instead of 2 as soon as the power goes off and I turn it on it's right back to 30 seconds and 2 minutes. This ain't a major issue it's just a pain in the ass cuz i'm using slide to unlock and evry 30 seconds I have to keep unlocking it.

I personally like it that way better, That way the HTC task manager and the OK button dont overlap and creat confusion. Instead, I use Quickmenu since that has it's own task manager. It shows you what's running and you can close them as well using Quickmenu.

Yes you're right. I had to hard reset the Wing since that Black dialer doesn't have the removed option. Well it's a learning experience for me too. And fortunately that v4.1 is UC, all I need to do is remove those cabs from the SDConfig.txt file and re-run it again and voila all the cabs I need is back on the Wing.

Can't wait till you post the cab for the dialer. ;)

So far I love the Lite Black but I like the speed on the Micro better. That's why I try to get the Micro as much closer to the Lite Black as possible.

1 more thing I notice on the Micro, after installed "JUVS HTC Home.v2_1_1005722_s0" cab sometime when I switch back to the home the area where the HTC Home should be got "scramble" for about 2 sec. I still try to duplicate it and report back. It already happened to me 2 times today.

Yeah um i have a serious issue....with previous roms i had to reset the phone at least once or twice every few days, but now i dont have to do that any more, and i dont experience any problems. im not used to this!! how can i make my phone mess up more so i can spend half my day trying to fix it? lol. Opentouch 4.0 is the greatest rom in the world :)

The only issue I have noticed is with Opera mini. It launched fine a few times. now, whenever i try to launch it, it stops loading and says "error no space left". What in the french toast is that all about?

I'm having an issue with Arcsoft. If I press the Messaging button, the tool bars change as if Arcsoft was running (it shows Text Messaging, Inbox or whatever at the top, and the messaging menus at the bottom) but the actual program isn't running. The main screen never comes on, and it's not in the task lists.

Also sometimes, it will minimize itself when I click on a message to reply.

Everything seems great so far, except one thing I've found:

If you bind anything other than <start menu> to the Windows hard key, it loses its binding after soft reset and defaults back to <start menu>. I was mapping SPB Mobile Shell 2's SPB Menu to it, and found that after soft reset, the key went back to default. No key mapping for the Windows key will remain as long as Quick Menu is running. I removed it from startup, soft reset, and now remaps seem to 'stick' fine.

Plus, as nextpimp pointed out, I verified that all of Quick Menu's 'win-key' settings are disabled.

This doesn't affect any of the other hard keys' mapping.

Great work on the ROM!! Enjoying it a lot now that I'm getting it tweaked to my taste.

I realized the reason I had the task manager button overlaying the x button is because black bars was causing the issue. I prevented this from starting up and the problem disappeared. I noticed some others had this issue though their issues were mostly overlaying the connection icon instead. I deleted the entry for black bars from the startup group in the windows folder and this cleared it up. I was also unable to prevent the quickmenu program from starting up even though I was ending the program and clicking yes when it asked me to. I had to do the same thing and go to the startup menu and delete the shortcut to the program to prevent it from starting up as well. Hope this helps anyone who was having the same problems as I was having with my wing.

I have this problem and have had glossy black bars disabled since i flashed the rom. It stopped doing it the other day, but I noticed I can't access the task manager drop-down from the top-right corner anymore, though.

That's an alternative. Using this method would enable the Battery status task manager, not the HTC task manager.

Rather then using the task manager at the top right. I rather use Quick Menu's task manager. When you open the start menu, if anything is running it will show you just like a normal task manager.

As stated in the original thread, if it doesn't work immediately then open Internet Explorer, minimize it (Start>Today), then try the proxy patch. With the PIE open it should load it up. Then of course you can close PIE.My proxy weather works.

Ever considered using weather panel? I did on v4 lite black and now on v4.1 micro and it runs smooth. Here's a good thread for weather panel and then a link for a good theme...

The micro is great! Thanks a bunch - Was kind of tough trying to figure out a way to play any kind of ringtones for the phone. AMR works fine but does come in a little fuzzy - WMA is what I would like to play only because its small in file size and allows for more space on the phone. For now - will just keep an 8MB wav file in the phone memory until the WMP Cab for SD card comes out. Please point me to a solution when one does come up - THANKS AGAIN!

I've been trying all TTRAN's roms except the micro one and I am now settled on the Biggy Vista one. I never thought that I would spend that much time flashing and reflashing ... The Biggy Vista is a huge improvement over my Wing stock rom. The new radio driver is great, because suddenly I now can talk and browse Internet inside the house, which never was possible with the stock rom. Thank you TTRAN and everyone who contribute. I have only few small issues:

1. IE does not save history and it does seem to have problem browsing some websites that I could browse with the IE in the stock rom. In particular m.netvibes.com gives a blank page and wsj.com gives 'not found' error. Opera Mini works fine, but it is in its own Java universe (no copy/paste, no launching links, etc.) which is a pain. Is it possible to get a version of IE that works OK? I registered myself for skyfire, but I have to wait for the next release.

2. HTC home page is great. But I couldn't find anyway to customize the automatic ring profile (did some search but couldn't come up with anything) The backlight adjustment button in the launch area has only 3 brightness levels, but the Wing has 4 levels. I would like to make the button work with 4 levels or at least the top 3 levels.

3. When I launch a program from the Start pull down menu, often the first time nothing happens. I have to press Start and select the program again for it to pop up. It seems the Settings submenu exhibits this behavior mostly.

4. SynchroTime can not connect using T-Mobile proxy connection. I have to connect via WiFi for the connection to the time server to work. Just wonder, but this is really not an important issue.

Other than that the Wing is now a pleasure to use. I was just about to write it off before the new rom. Now I even bought a new case for it :)

I'm assuming ur using the Lite Black? Either way, this is a known issue, ttran is working on some skins for the dialer so you can change it to what you like the most. Be patient, he's a busy man ;).

I like the one in the micro better, but that wasn't my point. My point was that the dialer in the lite black cannot be changed using other dialer CABs, the one in the Micro can.

ttran is working on this issue and he said he'll be posting some skins for them soon.

Something I've noticed on micro 4.1 is my notifications for SMS and voicemail have stopped the vibrate alert I typically have it set to. I tried soft reset and re-doing the notifications settings. For me this is pretty minor, and I wonder if it might be an interaction with UF, BS, or other items I have loaded to the micro version. In general though micro 4.1 is fast and stable. Nice work ttran.

anyone else here use pcm keyboard? i have open touch v4 lite black and whenever i try to change the options for the pcm kb, the settings screen displays in a pop up: error Windows\device.exe and i can't close the settings window and have to reboot.

yes i use opera mini but not when im searching the videosites like 'youtube, google etc...' and its not tht its slow its tht the memory runs really low even after closing out everything...

I would recommend Opera Browser 8.65 or the free Beta version 9.5. Real quick, Tab options, can browse the internet just like on ur PC. It's what I use and I cant do without.

Ive been getting the same message saying to close apps.. only on occasion when running PIE or Opera 8.65( when using multiple tabs )- program usage will drop to 4mb, when i close the one app it goes back to 22mb ( memory leak maybe )... but I think it has to do with the browsers trying to load up all the plugins ( plus being that it is now has flash player built in )... Not sure but i will test the hell out of it during the next week.... trying to decide if i want to go without the cube or not.... ( the cube is not that impressive to me )...

I got it to work by installing an older version of TCPMP (0.72RC1) when I was using vista biggy. I am using that version with the video bundle cab on the micro now with no issues.

I'm also going to fix the tcpmp issue on the next update, I was trying to save some time when creating the oem package for it but it was a lesson learn.

It works great if its cooked in with flash but if not then it will have issues.

I already know the problem and will fix it.

I'm experiencing the same with the Lite Black version.

As for the Micro, it's no major issue, maybe just a suggestion, but maybe it could be beneficial to include the Advanced Configuration tool to it? allowing us to have more control over it? Just a thought.

No major issues here. I was using the biggy for a while before micro 4.1 came out and noticed I was getting much better battery life. I know that radio was different. Is that available somewhere to try?

My biggest issue right now is battery life. It really sucks. I was using 3.0 biggy which would last 1.5 to 2 days without charging (this is with push email enabled and palringo IM always on). 4.0 only lasts 1/2 a day at best. Same programs and settings are installed as 3.0.

Also, the dialer isn't the best so I tried installing some cab's for other dialer's and it gives me a screen with just blank buttons. Had to uninstall them to get the default dialer back.

Look at his 3rd post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2032967&postcount=3), right under that one. it says "Open Touch v3.0 Splash and Raido". Flash it like you would any other ROM.

Firstly, I love OT. Havent used anything else since I have owned my wing. I am having trouble with Launching the Audio manager on the Front screen. The error message says, Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. Try reinstalling or restoring this file."

I am using the OT 4.0 Vista biggy.

In reading earlier posts, I would also be in favor of a big button phone dial as it is convenient when I am in the car.

figured out how to fix the audio manager on the today screen... you have to open your audio manager from the main menu first, let it scan, then choose a folder, and close it, go back to today screen, and then it works perfect from the htc home screen

I have tried many roms and I have to say Open Touch is by far the best.

If some of you guys took the time to read carefully; and actually troubleshoot the problem yourselves...then you'd realize that!

Why not go back to the forums and read about how hard it was to flash a rom in the beginning; you'd appreciate all the hard work these guys are doing for us! When I first flashed it took me almost a whole week!

I'm going to start messing around with some kitchens and learn how to make my own rom...I think you all should do the same.

BTW...has anyone else read about the rest of the phones on here? I SAY WE HAVE A PRETTY DAMN GOOD FORUM GOING.:cool:

im trying to run pocket e-sword on my device, it installs fine; but when i launch the exe it asks for the modules folder when i set path to storade card-
it tells me that there are no pocket e-sword modules in storage card folder.

i would hate to revert back to 3.0,

Or if your SD card is in the Wing, take it out until it loads up, then re-insert it. I don't know if you have to actually go back to the original ROM or not. You may just be able to reflash & try again.

Well it would be fine but its doing it over and over and it wont download any picture messages. Regular texts come over fine.

Another thing I found is when i hit my text/mms button to open a text or create a new one Sometimes only my emails show up and new account. No mms or text options.

Guess i go back to to the 3.0. Bummer

I am also on the t-mobile proxy ttran. Dont know if that helps or not. He had the same problem but he could actually download the files. My mms never actually complete. I dont want a complete debug just for my problem ttran. I can live with 3.0. Thanks for your hard work bro. Donation coming soon.




EDIT:::: well i installed 3.0 biggie and mms work GREAT no changes needed. I dont even have to download the messages manually. they automatically download for me now. So its something with 4.0

Hey dude there is a way you can use your custom dialer even with this rom!
Just install the cab of your favourite dialer and do a soft reset. Then you will have the blank buttons. Go to advanced configurations its in start-> programs ->accescoires and go to the phone tab. There on the top you will a thing named show video dialer . Deactivate this and do a soft reset. After the boot you will have your new dialer ;) Worked for me just fine.

Is it just me, or does almost every issue with this unit/os/software have some fix like the above, or "tap it quickly several times", or "install the cab, then check an option, uninstall the cab, soft reset, reinstall the cab, uncheck option, soft reset and you're good!" I didn't test to see if it worked because my monitor was set to 1600X1200 vs 1440X900 or because I was standing on my head at the time, so your results may vary." Ok, so I'm a bit sarcastic. Just how much research goes into some of these fixes? My boy revived his Xbox360... Blow into slot, hold controller power button while starting with box console button, press down, down, x, x, y, y, then release controller power button. Seriously. Just how did he come up with that sequence?

I've tried several different programs for things. If they don't work, cause freezing issues, etc., I just delete and move on, there are plenty of similar programs. I probably should notify the developer, but I doubt I'd have enough info for a debug anyway.

As far as this message is concerned, go to the Messaging Options (Messages main screen, Tools, Options), choose MMS, servers, T-Mobile MMS, and change the "Connect to" to T-Mobile Data. That will stop that message from popping up. Also make sure the settings are correct. My MMS works fine & I am running v4.0 w/VC.

One thing that I noticed when flashing the RUU way is if I have a "mobile device" pairing, or profile with activesync I get the same issue. If I delete the mobile device and just sync as a "guest" I am able to get past that error. Something to try. Also, be persistant. You will eventually get it to work. It's worth it. ttran does great work.

Once the screen turns white, if you watch it the entire time a linux logo and green print out will flash across the screen for a few seconds.

It has to copy a file over to your sd card for the flash to work.

Check the root of you sd card for a file starting with the letter H and if it's not anything standard to you delete it.

Reboot your computer and then your device and try it again.

As stated above, you must be in guest mode only or it will not work.

and my battery life problem stopped and the dialer on this rom is much better than the other rom.

Hey everyone. I am having a couple problems I am hoping someone can help me with. This was also happening on my stock T-Mo rom before I flashed, so I don't think its a rom specific thing, but maybe you have solutions.

1) Activesync loads randomly. I have seen multiple ways of 'disabling' this, but I can't get any of them to work on my phone. I don't need it and don't use it, and it is a bit of a memory hog. Does anyone know how to remove it?

2) When I am typing, there will be a MAJOR lag (up to 2 minutes for longer messages) from the time I finish typing, until the words finish showing up on my screen. This only happens in MSN Messenger and in Text Messaging, but not in MS Word or Excel. Any suggestions?

Hi, I flashed "Open Touch v4.0 Biggy | WM 6.1 | Vista Style | Voice Speed Dial | No Voice Command Build 19199.1.0.0" yesterday and after couple of soft resets, stock rom's default start menu came instead of the customized one from this rom :eek:. Even after few soft resets, the stock rom's start menu did not go away. I know I have read this issue somewhere in open touch 2.7 thread but I could not find now. It would be great if some one can point me to the fix. Thanks in advance :)

update : I was diggin into the windows folder and when I execute the "QuickMenu.lnk" under "\windows\startup" folder the start menu of this rom comes up but it goes away and the default start menu comes up when the windows key is pressed. I also see "Start clean.lnk" under the same folder and I know this is just to clean the recent items in the start menu.

well I went back to 4.0 this morning hoping it would work. still the same problem. when its on t-mobile data and I have it set to automatically download messages under mms options it shows I have a picture message and it tries to download but it stays at 0%. after about 15-20 seconds it gives up for roughly 30 seconds then tries again. it keeps doing this till I either postpone or delete the mms. if I set it to manually download messages it will get to 99% and not finish. it sits at 99% in my mms inbox. until I either delete it or postpone or try and download it again. ill keep it on till tomorrow if anyone has any suggestions. I really like this new rom but can't live without mms.

There are several different options on OT v4. Biggy, Biggy vista style, Lite (black and vista), and micro. The Lite and micro will have exactly what you described. You get to fill in the blankks. The Biggy versions will give you lots of apps already loaded.

ok so a little tinkering I found what could be happening to my mms problem. I was looking around and under start/settings/connection/connection, my t-mobile data had switched to my isp. I clicked on manage existing networks and went to network selection. it had switched from t-mobile data to my isp.
I switched it back to t-mobile data and exited. tried receiving another mms and it still didn't download. I went back to the connection settings and it had changed back to my isp. what is causing this? why would it switch to my isp from t mobile data? I never connected to a wifi or computer in that time. any help would be appreciated. getting very frustrated.

I was having that same problem as well! I kept having to switch the setting from My ISP to T-Mobile. I posted about it in the [Release] Open Touch v4.0 thread. Eventually it stuck. Maybe a soft reset after setting will make it stick, I don't know. But good luck with it either way.

Ive tried installing a cab over the old skin, but it keeps asking to uninstall the old calculator... when i go to remove programs, theres on calculator on the list to remove... So Im assuming that i would probably have to install a gif or png file over the orig one...

Hey guys im having problems with HTC HOME at first it was working fine, now it shows all 6 of the different buttons (weather, apps, profile, etc...) in the home settings i have only 4 checked off, and they are arranged in a specific order. SO any ideas on why it wont remove the buttons when i tell it to, and why it is not putting them in the order i have set? thanks

Check settings... both incoming and outgoing servers require authentication AND SSL (Secure Connection). Been playing around w/ICP touch ... will reflash 4.0 micro and 4.1 micro to confirm presence/absence of issue

The settings are (and always have been) as they should be. It worked for about 2 emails (sending) then as soon as I said something about it working, it proved me wrong. I am on the proxy if that makes a difference.

ive been running this rom for about 3weeks now and its by far the best out there no major issues or problems/bugs. One small thing tho; ive recently noticed that i have to at least 'soft reset' once daily or my home screen gets blurry and dis-coloured. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution? i dont mind too much cause after the soft reset everything is back to normal again...

To have email & MMS w/proxy you must set up 2 seperate commections... easiest way to do this is have progs that connect automatically proxied and the that connect to private networks a direct connection that DOES NOT connect to the internet. Hope this helps

that's not the case for me... I tried to post screen shots from my phone but.....
anyway, I have ttrans 4.0 Biggy rom with vc and vd ,tmoweb $5.99 per month and the proxy setup.
mms was the easiest in that I had over looked and took for granted that the ones configured by the network wizard were correct. I had to go to messaging>mms>tools>options> click on the mms proxy and change 2 things. (.050) to (.50) and port (80) to (8080)
after soft reset, mms worked great.
I just googled (gmail settings wm 6.0) and and found a tutorial with a walk through. the problem was with the incoming and outgoing server settings. as they don't both need ssl on. only outgoing. I tried to post screenshots from the phone but no luck. sorry. if I had my computer we could fix this tonight for you guys.

this is easy. Set up two connections

one with the proxy hack and one without it

for your email you can set it to use the connection setting that works for emails and same with mms

When lauching this program today it asked me if I would like to upgrade to the newest version. Of course I said yes, but this added another cab and another version of googlemaps to my wing using the biggy Rom. Did this not delete the previous version because it was loaded with the ROM?

You can not delete stuff cooked into the rom, but you might be able to over rite it.

I've been using the Micro 4.1 ROM for a while and really love it. It is very stable and fast.

I just tried this week to use my SlingPlayer Mobile (I haven't used it since flashing this ROM) and it is no longer working. It finds my slingbox, shows connecting, then shows starting, then immediately gives an error that it can not connect. I've searched the web and this forum and found a couple of fixes to try (adding some wma and wmv decoder.dll files to the windows directory) but they didn't solve my problem. (FWIW, slingplayer on my desktop works fine so I know I have my port forwarding done correctly on my home router/firewall.)

I don't use the slingplayer enough on my wing to cry about this (lol), but now I'm on a mission to see if I can find a fix. Anyone else out there use slingplayer and have a fix?

Just my 2 cents, but it would be helpful if you would include what rom are you using as you know TTran release different roms with different calculator skins. It'll be easier for other people to help you.

If I'm remember it correctly for the ringtones, you have to copy it to windows\ring folder.

Or you can create a folder, "My Ringtones", in the micro sd card and put your ringtones in that folder. This is what I did.

OK ... so the hard SPL did not take. Go through all the steps for Hard Spl again. You'll know you got it right when the SPL says canyonyang....something. (Sorry charging my phone via usb... and doing a bunch of other stuff at once) ... You should be doing this step with USPL though if memory serves me correctly.

Ok, now follow this intruction from TTran. He has the intruction in the org. Micro version 4.0 but not in 4.1, but here it is. Remember to format your micro sd card to FAT32 first.

Preinstall notes:

Your device must be fully charged.
Your device must be Hard-SPL, use the following link for more information about HARD-SPL.

Installation Process

1. Backup your data before starting this process as it will erase everything.

2. Copy the HERAIMG.nbh to the root of your Micro SD card.

3. Hold down the camera button and perform a soft reset with your stylist, do not let go of the camera button until a white screen shows up with instructions.

4. The new screen will prompt you to start the process, simply slide down the volume button which is located on the left hand side of the device.

5. Put your device down and wait for it to complete the flashing process.

6. Once you see the "Success. Press any key" appear, press any key.

7. It should go back to the Bootloader menu which is the rainbow looking screen.

8. Perform another soft reset with your stylist.

The flashing process has been successfully completed.

Now review the Autocabs.txt file for more instructions on how to install cabs.

Go to settings > personal > Today, under Items tab, if you have any apps or plugin check below the HTC Home, then it will show the thin "blue line" that you see.

That's 1 of the reason why I switch from the Lite Vista to Lite Black and now I'm running the micro since it's faster.

Ok, do this

settings > personal > today > items.
Highlight battery status > option, then click on advanced tab, click on "Reset ViewState at Today-Screen". Click ok, ok.

It should bring back the battery status on your today screen.

Ok guys...I got it installed. The problem was that the sd card was not actually being formatted correctly. I installed WM5torage and then formatted the card again. Re-installed the image to my sd...and all was good.

Got to thinking today, because I was finally able to track down the original wm6 ringtone that I like so much and couldn't use it - is the whole problem related to the micro version not having wmp10 in it? I could understand that it would tell the phone how to handle the different file associations and the like. I'd try to download it and give it a shot, but it's nowhere to be found as a cab or otherwise.

Still having an issue with the Arcsoft messaging software. No matter how I start it (pressing the side button or starting thru a shortcut), it will sometimes not launch completely. It'll change the menu bars (shows "Messaging" at the top and the menus for the program at the bottom), but it won't actually be running in taskmanager.

The second problem is that when I select a message (tapping or using the center silver key), the Messaging program will, for lack of better term, minimize itself. It's still running and it'll come up if I chose it in task manager or press the Messaging side key. When it does come up, it shows the threaded SMS, but the bottom half of the text entry box is covered by the menus.

Anybody else seeing this issue and/or know how to fix it?

I had that problem in the beginning and it got on my nerves. I disabled the HTC task manager and enabled the battery status task manager. Everything seems to be working ok now.

Hey dude there is a way you can use your custom dialer even with this rom!
Just install the cab of your favourite dialer and do a soft reset. Then you will have the blank buttons. Go to advanced configurations its in start-> programs ->accescoires and go to the phone tab. There on the top you will a thing named show video dialer . Deactivate this and do a soft reset. After the boot you will have your new dialer ;) Worked for me just fine.

Well, while I like this series of ROM's I've got a repetitive problem. It occurred with the one of the Biggy installs and it's occurred multiple times with Lite Black (the one I chose to stick with). I haven't had a chance to try and discover the source of the problem other than not using a restored backup to ensure it wasn't data corruption from a previous installation.

What happens is my handheld will start loosing icons for apps installed on the memory card.... they'll still launch fine though. I will begin having troubles syncing to the point that first I can sync with the enhanced option turned on, the next time or perhaps two times later I'll have to turn it off, only to have to turn it on again the following time. My todays screen forgets what items are supposed to be active and thus shows none. There's no pattern to the order of occurrence other than these all happen eventually, and once one of them happens it all goes downhill very fast.

A hard reset or reflash work..... for a while. Is there a known issue that I've just not seen any post about? Is there any way to spare myself from yet another hard reset this time?

It's happened to me couple times before until the last time I flashed. What I did find out is watch out for what applications you want to install to the micro sd card. Usually any applications that relate to the home screen or run in the background, you best shot is to install them on the phone instead of the micro sd.

For the active sync issue, I don't know why but the only option that work best for me is to uncheck the "enhance ..." option. What I did last time is

1. Uninstall Active sync on my computer
2. Uncheck the enhance option on the Wing
3. Reinstall Active sync on my computer
4. Connect the wing to my computer.

It's happened to me couple times before until the last time I flashed. What I did find out is watch out for what applications you want to install to the micro sd card. Usually any applications that relate to the home screen or run in the background, you best shot is to install them on the phone instead of the micro sd.

For the active sync issue, I don't know why but the only option that work best for me is to uncheck the "enhance ..." option. What I did last time is

1. Uninstall Active sync on my computer
2. Uncheck the enhance option on the Wing
3. Reinstall Active sync on my computer
4. Connect the wing to my computer.

I can't said that this will fix your issue but it won't hurt to try :)

I thought the installing to SD might be a problem. So, the last two times (in the period of two weeks) I've tried to avoid installing any apps on the SD card which may even make so much as an entry in the registry. After all, the whole reason for flashing a ROM with a ton of room for programs is so you can install them there.... but that didn't seem to fix it. I'll have to look things back over, perhaps I did end up installing something big to the SD card.

As for the active sync problem. For me it gets progressively worse. I'll have to start resetting before I can sync once. And then after a while I get the lovely "Cant start repllog.exe" or whatever. This is what happened today and this is where I'm generally forced to reflash or hard reset.

I think I may be getting too relaxed the longer I go after a clean install so I stop watching things so closely. But, I haven't gotten more than a week free of trouble yet.

At this point, if no one else is having similar problems, I'm going to format my SD card, leave it empty, reflash my Wing and not install anything and then see how long that's stable. Naturally, I'll need to at least sync my calendar and contacts... but I'll try to go without my ebooks and mp3s for a while.

Any more tips, suggestions or even idle speculation is welcome!



By the way, currently installed apps that I don't think were on the ROM are Dial Tab, Pocket Digital Clock, S2U2 v1.0, MobiPocket, MS Reader, Enlight, Resco Picture Viewer Pro, regedit, iContact and Sprite backup.

the icons issue is usually related to one of three things.

- you did not have the micro-sd card inserted during startup
- windows mobile failed to read the card properly due to either driver failure(which was hopefully a misfire) or a sys file is corrupted
- your card is failing... either it is corrupting, faulty, or cheap material used.



the activesync issue... try redownloading the ROM. if it's not a basic activesync identifying itself w one device only and being stubborn issue... then i would assume there was some corruption in the ROM d/l, activesync on the ppc is corrupting, or it's a prob with your pc...conflicting app or you have a lost/corrupted sys file or driver.

Thanks for the reply. The SD card was my first consideration. I no longer store anything which may remain resident in memory or be frequently accessed on it. I've even moved my UL icons and my ringtones to the internal memory.

I'm keeping the SD card in mind as it is a "cheapie"... but if that is it, it's only part of the problem. I think what I'm seeing is consistent with a memory leak in one of my more commonly used apps, isn't it?

First off, I love your ROM and thank you for it greatly. I am using Open Touch v4.0 Biggy vc and vsd 2.

My major issue I've brought up before and if you addressed it and I missed it, I do apologize.

I have a Vox 340 that I have paired but it is a bit buggy. First, when a call comes in I have to hit menu and turn off hands free, then turn it back on for audio to come through. Also, I can't hang up the call. It closes the connection between the phone but doesn't end the call.

The only other minor thing is sometimes the text input box on the threaded SMS doesn't resize until I soft reset.

I love it. However somehow the rough blue background doesn't seem as slick as old black theme. I tried changing the theme, however several screens still have old blue background (dialer is an example). Any way to change the theme throughout the phone ?

I am using OT 4.0 biggy....my wifi will not connect now. It shows my unsecured SSID and tries to connect, but will not. Not my router at all, has to be something in the ROM, can anyone help?

for the overclock follow the instructions from the video on this rom... click and hold the battery status indicator, go to options, set your speed, select overclock on reboot, and wakeup , then go to dynamic scale set the options there, close it, click back on the bt indicator, set the speed again this time thru the set speed option on the first pop up...

Not that I know of... I'm using Lite Black for that reason.

However, there have been some speculations about using TCMP to recognize the MP3 files and that way you can use them for ringtones... but no comfirmations on that yet.

I then press and hold the camera button and Soft Reset. I briefly see Searching for SD Memory Card and then it jumps to the Rainbow screen. I have tried 3 different MMC's and they all fail to load the rom. Is there something I can do about this? Is there a way to use an RUU instead of the MMC?

Make sure your memory card is formatted to fat32. Only the micro roms need to be loaded this way, the Biggy and the Lite can be loaded through the RUU.

hi all i installed the Biggy and its been great so far. The only two things i have problems with are the Voice Dial not working (it wouldnt let me go to the settings it exits out once i start it) ans also the HTC Organizer takes me to MMS when i press the button for new email.

Does anyone have the same issues and if so how did you fix it if you did?

i'm using micro 4.1

I forgot to charge my phone the night before so I Started off at 50%. I turned my phone! few hours later I turned it on, only to see my battery dropped down to 35%. I turned it of again! a little bit later I turned it on and i was down to 25%. I popped the battery out, and left it out, later I put it back in and turned it on and i was at 23% (that I can understand)

I just kept my phone on for the next 2 hours and it dropped down to 18%.

I think it drains more while the device is off than when it was on.

you can download the rom without having your phone conencted to your computer! yipeeeeeee

but if you needed to FLASH the rom, than it just needs to be connected. Guest or no guest, it wont matter

I notice that there have been so many issues with this current build, I'm going to go back to the tmobile rom. I'm going to cook up an new update to the current version with the tmobile rom.

Give me a few days as my schedule has changed with work and home.
It might run a little slower then the current one but it will be more stable as with v3.0.

most of the issues people are having is from the programs yall are adding... try reinstalling the ttran rom and then 1 by one install apps and see how they work... do a back up after each cause it sounds like its some of the programs you put after the orig rom that are causing conflicts.... slide to unlock causes a conflict when used with spb shell... and sometimes with the orig rom..

Even I had this issue in OT 2.7 and then I formatted the storage card & it was fine for quite some time. But few days back the moment I connected my phone to laptop most of the folders got corrupted. I am running OT 4.0 vista version now. Somewhere I read that it could be because of less quality storage card. I am still using the sandisk 1gb card that came along with Tmobile wing.
