I had a couple of problem with this ROM, which otherwise is great.

1. GPS: I had to set the baud rate to 57600 in Settings / Systems / External GPS / Hardware in order for Tomtom and other apps to pick up the GPS signal. The default 4800 baud did not work!

2. Internet Explorer had a tendency to hang after downloading a page.
This happens both over Wifi and GPS
For instance, if I try to go to http://google.com/glm
the page would load, but the download spinning wheel would freeze as well as the whole unit.

Only solution so far: Reset of the unit.
It happens quite often when using Pocket IE. Has someone else seen this?
Is there a fix?

Otherwise, your ROM is the greatest so far!

I did move the IE Cache folder to another location (aka erased the previous content). It seems to have fixed my Pocket IE hangs for now...

I think one more app needs to be open then you should see the missing arrows compared to my previous pic.

Once more it is not a big problem but it seems everyone forgot the same pics as I did in my german rom.

Having recovered from an all nighter installing v2 last week I now find myself considering v3 already (you work too quick mate! :D )

As my phone is currently running fine with v2 I wanted to check a few things before I REALLY annoy my wife and spend another night setting up my phone with v3 :D :

1. Why did you leave out TCPMP in v2 and v3 (I have had trouble getting it working by installing it myself on v2 - so that may be the answer you give me?)

2. What difference if any can be seen with the new graphics drivers you have used?

3. What benefits are there from the updated Quick GPS? (My GPS has been flakey on getting a first fix after a soft reset since using 6.1. Does this updated version fix that?)

Hi. Leo can you tell me, if gprs disconnect button now appears? On V2 after enabling button and timer trough Advance Config, nothing changed in gors bubble. And long press red key lock the device.

You can configure all buttons 'Long Press', any function you like to the button you can set. Green\Red button, Camera button, pick one and select your function.

Start\Programs\Utilities\Device Config\Long_keypress

ah, because the music plugin that you put in has no way to take you to the music application. I have 200+ songs on my phone, and don't always want to listen to the first song in alphabetical order... The home plugin gives you the ability to directly open the player.

I guess nobody uses this functionality.

ok audio manager problem found. xD!! its because i have UltimateLauncher and when i put the music plugin into it just doesnt work. :) but now its fixed..

Anyone else having problems with the Opera 9.5 beta? I just flashed this rom and loaded the opera "fixed_uninstall" cab (the build 405 from GSLEON3) but somethings not liking something else here. it sort of loads after a while and I can soom back and forth in the default ppcgeeks home screen but can't get to the menu to change anything or to the address bar to go anywhere. I can sometimes get a sliver of control at the very top of the screen to get to the today screen but usualy its a reboot.

program memory is a bit low... 81.3 mb.. theres a way to increase the program memory?

First of all, thanks for your great contribute to the community, V2 and now V3 seems to be excellent Rom’s. I will test and report back when I have my device back (the police just catch the theft today – thanks to anti-theft software and thank god the theft probably don’t know the existence of XDA-developers) and probably will make another small donation.
Is battery life (with this new build) as good as with the V2?
I’m planning do run some battery life testing to compare the 1.64.08 radio from niki, 1.64.08 from Kaiser and 1.65.14 (I know this one is not compatible, camera not working etc, etc…)

Anyone have a cab for this new, sexy task manager in v3? FOr me, thats the only thing in this rom that seems to stand out. Seems this rom was released a little early with some over looked bugs like startup animation, etc. I came from dutty's apr 09 rom to this andnoticed this build or rom seems a little slower than dutty's apr 09 rom. Also, looks like the graphics index is improved but whats the use if theres no video sites or tcpmp on this rom and even after installing still doesnt work? DOnt know how ima watch my eskimotube now?

Would there be anyway you could make a ptt version of this great rom? I love this rom but I use ptt a ton and it is really a feature I need. Is it just me or isnt anyone else using PTT? Of course I am in the US as well


The included file will restore your PTT to AT&T's PTT setup. Make sure after you install to go to Start/Settings/Buttons and see if button 6 has the PTT or it just vanished. After you install the cab file, do a soft reset.

I solved my streaming issues with re-installing streaming mediaplayer. Went back to v2.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=58145&d=1195040893)

I re-installed twice, hard reset the Vario several times but I keep having troubles with the button that should open up program files folder from HTC Home.

I can use it one time and it opens the folder perfectly. Once closed however it is not working anymore .... I have to use "free up ram" with the "close all tasks" from SKTools to make it work again.

But then it will work only once again.

I bet there is an easy fix for this but I am overlooking it :-(

Update: also without customising the ROM (softreset after hard reset) the link works only once ?!

Update II: after running the programfolder from launcher I checked taskmanager. Taskmanager shows a running proces named folderview.exe. Stopping folderview.exe allows me to use the launcher again, but again only once :-(. Is anyone else having this problem??

Googling for folderview.exe teaches me that this is the app to show the programs folder. closing the folder down doesn't stop the proces tho..

Update III: opening the folder from the startmenu isn't causing the same problem...so it must have something to do with HTC Home launcher...

Yeah, there are just 45mb left after soft reset. And when new program opened up, it takes about 10 sec. for the screen to respond. Anyone has the same problem?

I don't have these things in V2. By the way, if I wanna go back to V2, do I need to reload those dll files to enable the video call?

The only problem I came across is that when someone calls me without callerID, I get a very short ringtone and silence afterwards. When someone calls me with callirID on, there's no problem. I get the full ringtone then.
I have used several radio's, but that didn't change it.

Can someone help me? A bit annoying when I don't hear all incoming calls...

Never restore a full backup (like what Sprite backup takes) from one rom to another rom. You will screw up the registry and most likely overwrite key files in \Windows and elsewhere and you will wind up with an unpredictible and unstable device.

To go between roms, your only choice is to do a backup with PIM Backup to save off your messages, contacts, phone logs, etc that it does. Then save off anything you want to keep that is on your main phone memory (like stuff in My Documents). You'll then flash the new rom, do a hard reset, then the fun of reinstalling your apps and doing a PIM Backup restore. If the rom you are going to is UC compatible, you can read up on how to setup the UC stuff and help automate some of the reinstall that you have to do.

Personally I have a microSD card with a directory called Setup and I keep important cabs and stuff in that directory. After I flash I just go through there to install what I need for that particular rom. Yeah, its a pain, but after you do it a few times, its not that big of a deal. It takes me about 2 hours from the time I start doing a Sprite full backup (so I have a way to get back to the previous rom if I don't like the new one) until I have all my apps installed and phone resync'd and setup on the new rom.

I reflashed v3 and the radio stayed at 1.64.08.21 - I thought the radio flashed with the whole package. It also didn't change when I downgraded to v2 and back up to v3. I'll try and download the 1.58.16.27 radio and flash it separately, but I am confused?

Anyone else having problems with the Opera 9.5 beta? I just flashed this rom and loaded the opera "fixed_uninstall" cab (the build 405 from GSLEON3) but somethings not liking something else here. it sort of loads after a while and I can soom back and forth in the default ppcgeeks home screen but can't get to the menu to change anything or to the address bar to go anywhere. I can sometimes get a sliver of control at the very top of the screen to get to the today screen but usualy its a reboot.

V3 build has the default HTCHome included in the 3.51 base.
This fixed the Callhistory redirect button, so that's why I didn't change.

So far no issue here with the weather updates.

In regional settings go to time in the format ... scroll up. You'll get options with tt at the end. That's what you need. I missed it as well you can find a better detailed response to one of my threads.

To add the disconnect button use a registry editor to browse to HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\

Create a new DWORD Value
Name: Flags2
Then set "DWORD Data" to:
0 - For no disconnect button or time of connection in bubble
8 - To show disconnect button in bubble
16 - To show disconnect button AND time in bubble

Then exit and soft reset

when i was trying with the dlls i got something, the thing just did something...
well animations worked well and also the gba emulator.. but then !^&%@#$ the thing gone to a blueish screen .. then reset.. and then it wont start : )... so i did a hard reset and it worked well.. the problem here is... i cant remember what the hell i did to the registry to make that, apparently the drivers were working partially (only when i played a video or executed a game) but with that result.. a blue screen : )...
i'll keep working maybe im near to the fix xP...
((but i need remember the regs and keys xD))
but dont make an illusion of this, im only posting some of my work with it..
but i know that many more developers here are working hard with this : )...

I re-installed twice, hard reset the Vario several times but I keep having troubles with the button that should open up program files folder from HTC Home.

I can use it one time and it opens the folder perfectly. Once closed however it is not working anymore .... I have to use "free up ram" with the "close all tasks" from SKTools to make it work again.

But then it will work only once again.

I bet there is an easy fix for this but I am overlooking it :-(

Update: also without customising the ROM (softreset after hard reset) the link works only once ?!

Update II: after running the programfolder from launcher I checked taskmanager. Taskmanager shows a running proces named folderview.exe. Stopping folderview.exe allows me to use the launcher again, but again only once :-(. Is anyone else having this problem??

Googling for folderview.exe teaches me that this is the app to show the programs folder. closing the folder down doesn't stop the proces tho..

Update III: opening the folder from the startmenu isn't causing the same problem...so it must have something to do with HTC Home launcher...

There is sprint backup inside the rom, it work perfectly. Spb backup doesn't work too well with wm6.1.

I reflashed v3 and the radio stayed at 1.64.08.21 - I thought the radio flashed with the whole package. It also didn't change when I downgraded to v2 and back up to v3. I'll try and download the 1.58.16.27 radio and flash it separately, but I am confused?

I still have random vibrations. I did the hard reset solution and it didn't work. I enabled reglogger but it consistently hangs the device in sleep mode (won't turn the device power back on while logging and asleep - requires soft reset). Does anyone have any idea how I can troubleshoot this apart from removing all sounds/notifications? Is the "notifications queue" related to this?

I made a mistake about the radio, the radio included '1.64.08.21' is the right one! About your random vibrations, I didn't have more complains like that so it seems like a hardware failure :(

Wow Sir. What you just did is go into a Chevy Dealership and ask them about the Ford Motor. Totally should have posted this in Dutty's Marathon Thread.

But In Fairness I will say Clear Data works Like Hard Reset. But I just love doing the Hard Reset.

And Keep trying on the Hard Reset It Takes a While to get it right. Make sure you are only pressing the Two Soft Keys and Press in the Reset Button for a few seconds. If you get your Carriers Splash Screen. Try again. And Again until The Grey screen comes up.

Just curious if anyone has experienced this using Voice Command, when pressing the headset button, the dial pad become active on the screen and there is a channel open between headset and phone, this does not appear to drop. Typically, pressing the headset button, the Voice Command prompt is heard through the headset and visual display (little microphone) is seen.

Sorry to be so Crass, but if you find that a Rom with an included Radio has a Signal, Camera, or Battery difference. Try flashing a new Radio or two. See if that help. Then, if that doesn't work. Then ask.

Did something wrong on your rom :o . I deleted the entry in the hklm\snd\event\.scheme . Now it’s stuck on the welcomehead.png on the boot up. Always done this on roms with beeping menus. Really is a nice rom.

There's a better easier way of turning off beeping menus than to tinker around and delete keys in the registry...Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications and then uncheck the "Events (warnings, system events)" option...

This fixed the Callhistory redirect button, so that's why I didn't change.

So far no issue here with the weather updates.

To L26, the HTC Home was changed for the newer version between v2 and v3 but the radio remained the same, i've got that right? Seems weird that I'm the lucky soul to have this issue.

Maybe I shouldn't care about the weather. Anybody have any thoughts why it won't download the weather data through the data connection but when synched to a laptop happily downloads?

Just an FYI to L26 and any other interested folk.

I am in southern california and with the same radio (and different radios I tried), the v2 battery drain rate is substantially (!) lower than an identical configuration of software on v3.

Also, the 1.64.08.21 radio has a substantially faster battery drain rate than the 164.16.06.04 that I currently have installed (I tried both radios on both ROMs at least twice each). I have also headr good things about the 1.58.21.23 radio in my area, but I haven't tried it.

I know the radio issue is region dependent, but I am a tad confused at the large difference between battery drain between the versions with the same radio. I'm thinking pagepool or some other memory cache?

Of course, I won't be able to stop myself from flashing v4 when it comes out - does it ever end?

Rkrasny, as I was hoping to upgrade to v3 once the non-cube version is updated with the fixes (early next week, according to Leo) please let me know which radio you would suggest for our area, or what you find works best for you.

No, messaging works fine. The problem is the screen is blank (for the area where it displays messages). I can hear people sending me messages, but I can't see text and there is no place for me to type (and if I do use the keyboard, nothing appears). The app almost appears like its hung, but its not

Funny was this: When i first flashed V2 with included 1.64.08.21 radio, i had too problem with battery drain. But when i flashed separately only radio 1.64.08.21 afterwards, everything was ok. i dont know why, but problem was solved...i am from middle Europe (Orange).Maybe problem with this radio is in american region.

I´ve got a call history problem.
1 of 4 times when i bring up call history i am not able to close it.
Some of the graphics dissapear and i can´t close it, i have to do a soft reset.

I also have some strange lock ups, mostly right after i send a sms (and i am using the bundled radio).

First many thanks for your answer.
I will try with the new version of HTC home.
But it seems that the music tab does not work anymore. Am I right ?
I have Hex Edit htchome.dll to compare with an old version and this one contains too the music tab intruction and the Tabsetting params.
