The best ROM for s620 - explain it :)

So many versions of cooked ROMs comes every week. Kavana and Ricky works hard, but every time there are people who want more and more.

I make this topic to help Kavana and Ricky to find what is best for community and put it in next version if they wont to. I will be happy if they post here some posts about possibility of this and that and their point of view about best ROM.

This is my Best ROM:
-WM 6.1
-Most apps from Kavana-s ROM
-10-15-20 color schemes with diferent colour and wallpapers.
-SEF security - cool free utility. With this your best frend or wife will recieve sms-s when your phone is stollen and SIM card is changed - I think this is very useful
-Weather watcher or some good alternative to see the weather fast
-Some RSS reader with possibility to download all data with one click. This is good because you can download every news with Wi-Fi or PC connection and then you be able to read all staff offline.
-Opera Mini 4 (and make it default browser)
-Settings for disable voice tags
-Good startup manager. With this you can control startup applications.
-Some diferent alarm - with one so simple function RING ONCE! :)
-Some chat Client with ICQ, MSN, Jabber, etc support
-Last version of oldSAP Favorites with already configured some cool staff like Opera, Weather Watcher, RSS, ICQ, etc - its easy to remove it but hard to add it you know :)
-Some registry optimization tweaks
-Add Bulgaria in Connection Setup - I will provide all information
-Some advaned calculator

Also, i´d like to see Wifi Profiles as a bundled app in the rooms, i find it very usefull.

lol. yea no slimfast...but if you can...work on a 96DPI secondary version....im dyin to see that resolution fully operational.96DPI is not for the Exacalibur, for a pocketPC, YES, 83DPI only for the Excalibur, no arguments, go for what you know, stick!

Here in the attachmen is Sef install - try it.

For technology - this is not a discussion about who is the best rom of current ones - this is what you wont in the feature. If you don't wont anything and you think last Ricky rom is perfect - don't post here, because you make offtopic.

You've made your opinion abundantly clear. But PLEASE don't post unless it's going to be something useful or contribute to the conversation. It's just flat out annoying...


...That said, one of the things I'd like to see is a builtin backup program (I know there's 3rd party programs out there, but pretty much assume that everyone who's flashing ROM's a lot tends to back up their data...)

Another is the easy-to-use ability to change the contents in CHome. It could be I'm missing something that's already there, but there hasn't been an immediately obvious way to do this that's easy to use.

I'd like to see the Messenger app working through the tmobile proxy...
Maybe some more comm manager skins? Touch style?
How about a web cam app to either stream or upload pics to ftp?
Or something I've always wanted, the ability to control media player on my pc through bluetooth. My Logitech BT keyboard can do it...
How about full screen Google maps?
A better photo app would be nice.
Oh i have a good one, a way to make the phone auto-answer like the nokia bug phones without the display coming on....

anyway thats my wish list and i'm sticking to it! Until then I'm very happy with ricks' awesome 6.1 roms. v5 seems to be the sweet spot on my Excalibur.

I think the Kavana release is best.
I prefer extra things NOT added.
I prefer stripped down ROM with basics (e.g. MS office). I can install my own things that I like.

The brightpoint ROM, for example, has Yahoo. this is a big pain when Yahoo release updates.

Basic functionality i want is:

1. UK keyboard :)
2. MS office
3. Registry editor
4. Don't mind a nice freeware explorer (total commander, resco, etc.)
5. Task manager not really needed in 6.1
6. Java
7. Flash lite
thats it.

I always install the following, but i would not want them in the basic rom:
a. MSNBC
b. Yahoo to go
c. Windows Live
d. Freememory

I don't now about SEF and Storage Card. I always install it on main memory - 400KB I think.

I don't think we should have resco on the ROM.
I know that having WM 6.1 is dubious, from a licensing point of view, but at least we did pay for WM5 and most have a legal right to WM6 upgrade.

we should not have other software installed where there is a clear legal issue. MS may well ignore a few hackers using 6.1 unauthorised, but smaller companies that live on micro-profits may not.

No the sef cannot be installed on the SC....but looking at the specs of it. It's really kinda crappy. The site claims it takes 30 minutes b-4 it will send a text message to the desired party after the phone has been turned on with a different SIM. I mean by that time, they could have hard resetted the device. and the SEF program would not work. WHY 30 minutes? Why not 10 seconds?

about SEF - If someone know how to hardreset the stollen phone he will make it on the first minute I think. I don't think there are many people who will hard reset it :)
I am totally agree with colonel, and if resco have a DONATE button I will hit it and give him 5 bugs :).
I will give 5 bug for Photoshop & Windows & office too, but... there is no DONATE button :) :).

I know, but it does give a false sense of security that you'll definitely get a text message. Secondly, The fact that the program is in your start menu and also in your remove programs list. Tips you off that they have a security program installed on it. But what if they use the phone with your SIM card still in it? I wish there was a way for you to send a text message to your phone with some sort of code to kill your device if it was stolen and they didnt use another sim card

Then the bad guy will put other sim. If I have a some luck this sim will be associated with some name... I have the number on a text msg. I also have some location coz the message contain the cell number (cell like antenna of my provider :)).

You will recieve the message every 30 minutes to track what number is in use now and where is your phone - pretty useful to Mobile provider and police to find the bad guy.

well, i tried this by using a friend of mine's SIM card and i didnt get a text message instantly like you're talking about. Thats why i went to several sites that host the program and thats where i read that it will send a text message in 30 minutes. so naturally i thought that was the reason why i didnt get a text message. I did send a test text message b-4 i activated it just to make sure it worked and i did get that text message, but i didnt get one after i put in my friends SIM card

I will make another test tomorrow. I have read about some other free program with the same subject - try to find and I will be happy to test another product.
I am not a fan of the program but the idea - simple no cost (money or resources) security. If I have 30-40% chance to bring your phone back with one simple install I will use it. :)

Hi, i'm very new to this forum. I am new to flashing and I have successfully flashed my phone to 6.5 3vo the 33010 build. I want to know if anyone can point me out to what is the best rom suitable for me?

Here are the things that I use my Dash with.

-Primarily calling
-running nes roms (3 hours/week)
- a few wifi (lets say 3 hours/week)
- gprs browsing (3 hours/week)
- blue tooth sync with headset (2 hours/day)

My goal is to get the best battery life possible.

- I have already underclocked my phone ti 180Mhz but my phone still gets from 100% to 75% in 12 hours (almost idle - only with 1 - 10 minute call and with 2 text messages received, no txt messages sent out nor MMS/GPRS)

Hoping for a good reply.

I am eyeing on either kavana ricky vanilla page pool and/or babyjing (but am afraid of the bluetooth problem)
