First of all I'd like to congratulate Ricky and Kavana for a fantastic work on releasing WM6.1

Guys, I was wondering if anyone is having the same problem as I am. Since ricky's version 5, whenever the calupd.exe and calnot.exe starts (which is once or twice a day) they consume 84-97% of cpu usage and drain battery down. Normally in the previous versions, calnot and calup will run for a few seconds, update upcoming alarms/notifications and stop. What happens now is that they don't stop at all.... and keep running - kind of in a loop. The reason I notice that is that the whole system was getting slow after few hours of usage...

Is anybody having the same problem ? Does anybody knows a solution ?

Best regards to all. Hope this contribute to find bugs.

I found a solution for this problem.

My device CPU usage was over the normal limit due to time zone conflict on calendarīs appointments. The conflict occours when there are more than 1 time zone selected for the appointments on calendar.

To solve this conflict, use the option "Change Calendarīs Time Zone" on Outlook Desktop. (tools/Calendar options/time zone/change time zone)
On this section, select "Move appointments created on original time zone to my new time zone" and choose from the list the time zone that you wish to consider for the move.

This action unify the time zone setting for all the existing calendarīs appointments.

This solved my problem - hope itīs useful for you.

I hope I am not to late to answer this.

The origin of this problem is "Notifications Queue". It is a plague since the old days of WM2003.

The calnot.exe warnings etc. are just symptoms.

-WARNING-
DO NOT LISTEN TO SOLUTIONS LIKE "RE-FLASH YOUR ROM" or "DO HARD RESET" or "YOUR COOKED ROM IS WRONG" BEFORE THIS!!!!!
I've seen some very active people in the forum offering these advices. So...

There are two solutions that I know of,

-Use SKTools,
-Use Memaid.

If you wish to follow the Memaid way take a look in this part of the forum for info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333521

If you wish to follow the SKTools way take a look in the official SKTools FAQ page here: http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?m_qa.html , search for "Can SKTools automatically remove the duplicates from the Notifications Queue?" you will find the needed info there.

For starters I suggest using SKTools (This is the one I used and fixed my problem).

Cheers.

Another reason for this problem seems to be the auto detection of time zone from Cells in the vicinity of the phone, to solve it do the following:

“Start -> Settings -> Clock & Alarm -> Here search in the menus for -> Automatic Time/Time zone”, and Disabled (Manual) it.
